I know some of you guys will flame me for this one, but I feel that this needs to be said. So here it is:

Can we stop doing sectionals in open lobbies?

If you are having a comp - then I'm all for sections BUT if there is no comp why are you drifting a section?

Please explain to me how it is fun to "tandem" with 12+ people on the D1 section of Suzuka East. Seriously - I want to know how that is fun when you cannot even see the car in front of you due to Polyphony's changes to tire smoke (I miss the old tire smoke). God forbid that one person makes a mistake and crashes everyone. Or my personal favorite, someone doesn't look at the map (or just doesn't care which is usually the case) and heads into oncoming cars and crashes everyone.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not questioning anyone's skill in this post. But why are you limiting yourself to just a section when the whole track is driftable?

I'm done ranting. I just wanted to put this out there to see how many people feel the way I do about this. :sly:

I totally agree with you Gambino, sections in a crowded open lobby causes to much problems and frustration from lack of communication and common sense. As stated the tire smoke is a horrible issue, same goes with people paying no attention to the map or thinking they have the right of way. Overall its to much to deal with people you dont know to keep a section style room flowing properly.

Drift full madrid have fun trying to tandem the U turn

I'm not sure what you mean? That section is fun! I admit that anymore than 4 cars makes it tough to tandem but I tandem that U-turn all the time with my boys... 👍 :sly:

Thanks Ant!!

Even with people paying attention - its still a joke to me because of the tire smoke. When I go into a room and the people are just drifting a section - I leave.

You are completely right Gam, simply because most people dont have the decency to let other people go first, or just not have the brains to, like Ant said. Common sense is lacking on GT5, so we shouldn't make things more difficult then they are. (Partly the reason i insist on using comf hards to keep speeds lower etc.)

Easy Eddy!

I honestly can agree. I mean we try to make it as realistic as possible, but we still turn around in the middle of the track. That makes no sense at all. Also since we're on this subject, why cant anyone take there time going down the backstretch? I personally know from going to real life drift events the past 3 years, once your done the curves you don't mash it and enter the 1st turn at 150. And unless the person that is following is skilled don't try to pull a backwards entry. Anyway that is my 2 cents. Like what you like, hate what you hate. It's just an opinion.

I agree with Gambino, crowded lobbies with sections are no fun, just all run one way and it'll give it a drift matsuri feel to the whole lobby. Madrid is the only track I will run in sections, Suzuka section is boring as I love trying big angles in the first turn, admittedly I normally end up in the gravel but I have fun :dopey:

^^This.

Too many random people that don't know each other, and their styles, cause a problem, especially with no communication.

Some people think its a race and push as hard as they can to "beat" the other guy, then they end up in the grass. I don't get it too, it's not a comp! Drift the track and chill! This is the reason why I try to keep out of public rooms, especially with a non active host. If the host is active, things aren't as bad as they can help regulate the room and keep a flow of traffic.

Still, a section with too many people is not fun!

I'm feel the same way DGambino does. Grand Valley is my alltime favorite track and have had some epic tandems with many amazingly talented drivers and it never fails that someone has to just get in the way. Drifting the whole tra k will only make you better as a whole

I also have to say it does take skill to tandem and realizing how much room and when to transition when following. Giving the lead driver enough room to transition so it looks almost like a dance. That takes practice and skill

When I open lobbies I pick tracks where you can link up the whole track. If there is a course with a good section (GVE for example) I drift around the rest of the track until I get to the section start again. One night I was in the D1NZ room with a couple others drifting the D1GP line. Everyone kept crashing and failing because when coming back to the start people would drive on track and collide. TopGear can be bad as well because on the back straight people usually do drag races
