SNAIL-Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge (Season 2): First Post

Event #4 at Nurburgring GP, Friday, 10/23/20, 9pm est Race Event Details Post

@Akzl298
@aedenmaddok
@Budgie1120

Just tagged you fellas to have a look. Extra Reserve drivers are welcome and needed. Priority among Reserve roster goes to those who confirm their availability first on down. Team Reserve liveries are provided and issued based on the primary driver(s) reported absent for an event.
We currently have 3 primary drivers reported absent for our upcoming Event #4 at the Nurburgring GP on October 23rd, so plenty of room and opportunity if you would like to join us for the event. Reply here in the thread to formally sign up as a Reserve if interested.:cheers:

I'd love to sign up as a reserve driver. However, my availability on Friday nights is nearly always pretty poor. I can pretty much guarantee I will not be available for the October 23rd event for a family event. The more heads-up that I can get the better, because I'll have to get approval from the boss (aka: The Wife) and that may take some time and effort.

I'm a decent driver on most tracks and with most cars. I'm not great at tuning so it is likely that I'll need team support on figuring out a decent tune.

To set the mood:
For anyone interested and didn't know this was posted on the 1st page of the thread, this post linked below is every available and broadcasted "Real World" Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA 2020 Season race. Those not available have been noted. Some very close and contested racing, among "gentlemen driver" level racers. This is one of the main feeder series into the real world Euro Porsche SuperCup, IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, IMSA WeatherTech Championship, and other higher level endurance series, and many of these drivers are in the 18-23 age range. Amazing talent, and very fun to watch.

Enjoy fellas. :cheers:

May I inquire as to the Pace / Lap times that were prevalent during your practice?
The fastest Gold Drivers were dipping into the low-mid 1:59's fast laps with avg pace around the 2:00.0-2:00.3 mark. Most Platinum driver pace is fast laps in the hi 1:59's- low 2:00's with avg pace in the 2:00.2-2:00.7 range. Got a feeling after this event and the next one that some of these remaining Gold drivers that are setting some blistering times will be getting a bit heavier on their way to a tire change. Expect to see some of the variance in lap times level out as we get deeper into the season.

Was watching the Race 1 race broadcast of the real world Road Atlanta triple header, and heard this is starting up next year under IMSA as the upper tier and pinnacle of Porsche Cup racing in North America to run in line with other established Carrera Cup Championships around the world and to replace the current Yokohama Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge. Michelin to provide tires. The other notable detail is top finishers in the young drivers grouping go on to race against European competition and top drivers can be eligible for seats in the SuperCup.

And

With GT7 and PS5 on the horizon, we may have to consider rebranding our series for a possible Season 3 next summer. Let's hope PD affords us a real deal GT3 Cup version of the 911.;)
