Does everyone remember the :ferrari: look-a-like Venturi Antlantique from :gt: 2? Maybe, maybe not?

Well it looks like Venturi are moving away from flowing curves :curvyrd: to a Snazzy/Funky (whatever you want to call it :D ) Check out this new 'Fetish' Concept Design

A good spec too:
- 2.0 Litre 180 bhp
- 850 Kg and 140mph
- FR Drive :burnout:

What's Everyone Think?

Have you got a Fetish? A French Fetish? If you haven't now, you could do next year if Venturi put their concept car into production. They've named it the 'Fétish'.

After some years of turbulance, the French manufacturer is back in safe hands after Gildo Pallanca Pastor took control last year. He set the company the challenge of designing a 100% new French sports car. Now, after eight months of top secret development, the Fétish offers a bold statement of Venturi's vision of the future.

Venturi position the car as a 'GT Light' - a car that is accessible, easy to drive yet has sufficient stowage to make touring possible. It's also been designed to be low maintenance.

Venturi are trying to position themselves in a niche where they could produce around 500 cars a year for €35,000 (£21,000). They no longer want to be seen as a French Ferrari or Porsche, but as a company producing a new range of very stylish products with no competition.

France is not the target market though. Venturi are aiming at thirty or so cities around the world with significant populations of young execs with plenty of buying power and a favourable view of French products and style.

They'll have to rely on selling the style as unique though if they reckon there will be no competition. The car is built on a welded aluminium chassis with a 2 litre, 180bhp engine driving the rear wheels. Target weight is 850kg and it should reach 140mph.

It has the potential to be a good looking car, IF they scrapped the front end and sides and started over. Come on people, give it a decent grill.

The sides look like they've been put on backwards!!

It's good from the B-Pillar backwards. The glass house is a bit too much of a 'bubble' for my taste, but the front end is unfortunate - I like the headlights, but the nose rolling over under the front of the car - oh dear...

Must...resist...foul...language....Must...resist...foul...language....

It seems like they tried to copy the Elise (or VX220). You can almost see the underlying frame, but the actual skin on it needs more work than I have words for. ;)

A perfect car to put into GT Concept:Tokyo-Paris (if possible) since Polyphony has relations with Venturi.

The car itself is like a concept car, I think it will come out in a 'tone down' version in real life. Not like this.

Direct competitor (maybe): Tommy-Kaira ZZ, Lotus Elise, Toyota MR-2 Spyder, Opel Speedster, MGF.

You don't like it guys? Gee common the majority disliked the :bmw: Z4, people weren't mad for the :nissan: Skyline :gtr: Concept, and now this :(

Do you genuinley not like the design or are you finding it difficult to come to terms with modern designs? :gcar:

Well I respect everyones opinion, but common it is a nice lookin Roadster, right? :smilewink

No. ;)

These "modern" designs all suck, basically. Sticking a big piece of plastic on a car that makes it look like the front end is melting and is starting to slide down under the car IS NOT A GOOD THING. :P

This isn't just a "modern cars" thing. There's been oodles of ugly noodles^H^H^H^H^Hcars made over the decades. The AMC Gremlin immediately comes to mind. I'm sure there's a number of concepts that (thankfully) never made it to production.

www.uglycars.fws1.com/photo2.html has some interesting ugly behemoths. :)

It's a nice idea. But your poll captured it perfectly with the "What's THAT?" question.

What is it? Bad, that's what.
