Here are a few of my better ones this week that didn't make the cut for the competition:
I love the composition on this one, just the car came out a little too blurry. I wanted to keep the wheels blurred because there's nothing I hate more than a nice drifting shot of a car that looks like it's parked because the wheels are perfectly still. But in trying to keep a blur to the wheels the car got a little blurred as well.
This one I was attempting to create a sense of speed with full focus on the background and shouting fans by letting the car whiz by with a little motion blur. I kinda liked this one, but my girlfriend shot it down. She said that if only the car was in focus too.
My dad liked this one and this is the one that I was originally going to enter into the competition because of the "unique" angle and composition. I say unique in quotes because when I WAS planning on using it, there were no other overhead shots. However, I waited too long and now there are two other similar shots... so this one was cut.
This one was another of my girlfriends choices that didn't make my final aproval because I felt it was a tad too boring. It looks like a posing shot, which it sort of is... This was taken in Photo Drive and I had actually spun out at that corner, so the car was perfectly still at that point, which is why I took the picture. But I feel that for it to have been sucessful, it would have looked better with the front wheels turned slightly to give the 'posing' look. Either that or a nice action shot of a drift right there would have been good too.
This one actually IS a good drifting action shot, one of my more favorite shots this week really. My girlfriend shot it down however, because she didn't like how much countersteer angle I had. She said it looked like the front wheel is broken because it just looks TOO turned to be natural. After looking a bit longer, I sort of agree. Maybe 5-10 less degrees and it would be the choice this week.
But alas, all these great shots and none made the cut! Which one did I choose? Well you've gotta visit the PMC week 3 thread and find out!
