It would seem that the baanhammer was primed and waiting for executive orders.
I've a few questions in the realm of snowboarding. I completely understand that I live in the land of flat and it's not even the end of September.
I recently ordered a pair of Burton Rulers to complete my setup, and had them on in the bindings to test the feel. It was a little similar to the setup I had with my old board, which was +18 and -6 on a liquid venture 144. +18 -6 didn't feel quite right on my Arbor Element. If I'm not mistaken, that's a duckfooted stance, which offers far greater stability and is primarily used in the pipe.
I'm a freerider/carver. I've been trying to figure why my old setup seemed so lethargic on the mountain no matter what I did. Part of it could have been the Liquid Venture, part could have been the drake bindings, and part may well could have been the stance.
I've tuned my new board a little, and my bindings are right on the center marks. (I'm about 5' 7", the board is an arbor Element 152 and the Bindings are Burton Missions) I changed it to +24 + 6, and that seemed to feel much better with the spacing on this board.
This element has never been ridden even though I've had it for a year. Assuming that I were to try both +18 -6 and +24 +6 binding angles on the same slopes, would any of you expect a noticeable increase in speed and responsiveness? What's the normal range of angles for someone who rides regular?
And also. I'm pondering one or more ski trips with friends on winter break and spring break. Living in Kansas, Colorado is the cheapest option for me. I haven't been to Winter Park in years, so I might end up going there. A-Basin would be fun as well. Are resorts in Utah or Montana worth the extra expenses in gasoline in lodging? i.e. Are the mountains just
that spectacular?
And here are a few pics taken with my far beyond terrible digital camera:
