I searched and found no answer.

I'm still rocking my 5-year(?) old fat PS3 with a 40G hard drive. After formatting storage, I'm downloading the 15G GT6 file presently. Just wondering if anyone a little further down the line knows if I'm about to run into a brick wall during install or shortly after. I had 31G of free space before starting install. I'd rather not spend money on a new hard drive or screw around with backups, transfers and reinstalling if I don't have to. GT6 will be the only game running on this system. I occasionally rent movies, but I could sacrifice that convenience.

Experienced advice welcome. Or, maybe I'm the guinea pig.

Gosh, it will be close.

PSN downloads require double the free space of the download size. If GT6 is 15GB to download, your PS3 will need 30GB of free space to install it, as it unpacks the download file during installation but leaves the original download file intact when complete. Once it is installed though, you can delete the original 15GB download, freeing up some space.

You might just be OK.

But when unpacking the 30 GB the 15 GB download is still on disk. 45 GB alltogether, plus system files which are quite a bit of GB.

In my opinion that wont fit. I hope I'm wrong though!

Install of original 15G download successful.
Download and install of 1.2G 1.01 update successful.
Game seems to be working just fine. Ran the intro movie and the track day opening event. My 5 bonus cars were already in my garage without having to do anything to obtain them.

EDIT: Check System Information. After install and update to 1.01 it says I have 15G free of 37G.
