So about those region locked FIA races...

I have a NA account, but I reside in Europe. PSN doesn't even have my country in the list of supported ones.
Do I really have to get up at 12am or later if I want to participate in the FIA tournaments? Or do I make a european account just for the FIA races and leave all my progress on the NA account, which in turn, will have no FIA race progress ever.

This sux :(

I have the same issue. I still havent participated yet in any FIA championshios because for me its 2am the first race. I am awake even then but honestly i dont feel like grinding at that time lol.

Even in the correct region the times can be unreasonable, in New Zealand right now they don't start till midnight.

That's a bit of a joke! Dunno what they can do to sort that but it needs sorting.
And here was me complaining that they moved the last race in the UK to 9pm instead of 10pm lol. 10 was better for me but your issue is a bit worse than mine.

Since the game will keep evolving (hopefully) and is relatively new at this point, I and many others hope PD will hear the fans with this problem that many are having.
I will keep my optimism, it's just that it would be nice to hear from someone official regarding this topic. Until then it's N.200 Mazda races (ugh) and gr.3 bullcrap speedway in Sport Mode. :\

That's just silly.
Late evenings is way too late if the last race is at 4am.

FIA races are nothing that much extraordinary.

And the end its just a "organised tournament" but at the end you dont get any more experience that you get doing sport mode or Lobby Races with the correct restrictions.

IMO its much more fun to organise or participate in a well organised championship with friends.
You race against same people, you progress much more increasing your driver skills and end up having more fun.
Finally FIA Races are not enjoyable more than a good normal race.

Sorry my English, hope this helps you to find how to enjoy this sad game.

What is the reason for locking FIA races? What purpose does it serve except preventing a lot of players from participating? As you can only enter once per event, I don't see the problem in expanding the entry window to 12hrs or even 24hrs to give everyone a chance.

Yeah, cant be to hard to program?! Its the only reasonable solution imo.

Haha this made me chuckle. "This sad game". Don't get me wrong I personally like the game, but it was just such a perfect end to a post.

I will look in to a league to join, thx for the heads up!
And patiently waiting for them to, hopefully, rearrange the FIA races.

One possible reason is to try and have/keep full or almost full races/lobbies.If there is a bigger window, people will "spread" across this bigger time zone and there is a good possibility to have half empty lobbies instead of half full.

GT Sport uses dedicated servers. It's not like GT5/6 with peer-to-peer, and the matchmaking simply linking you up with people sort-of nearby - you connect to the servers local to your account profile.

If you're resident in Europe, but playing on a North American account, you'll be connecting to wherever the North American servers are (which I think we decided was somewhere in Virginia). If you're doing that at 4am PST then first of all there'll be almost no-one there, and secondly you're at least 6,000 miles away from them. That's an entire second of latency. You're both going to have a Bad Time. Even if you do find a full lobby, you're going to be lagging like crazy (but at least it will only affect you, unlike P2P, where the network is only as strong as the weakest link).

So yes, if you're in Europe you should have a European PSN account.

I wish they would extend the times. For the US east coast, it starts at 6pm. By the time I log in, I might only have time for one race, and I usually miss it bc I don't feel like grinding the second I finish my graduate work for the evening..

They're needs to be more options for the early and late birds out there. Why only 4 or 5 race slots? Why not 10?

Yeah Sony should allow you to change region (like once every 6 months or something). I know someone that moved to Australia from Canada and the PS account is still set on NA region.

With the current time slots, I have have to jump into a race the moment I get home from work and then do the second race immediately after that or I miss the window entirely. Very little time for practice laps. It was definitely better when it was running later. Good thing I'm in Eastern time zone. If I was PST, I would never be able to do a single race. They should be able to add a couple of slots without diluting the field too much. Current window is too small.

I’m in California and since the change have only been home in time to catch the last race once. Kind if a bummer.

Easy fix. PD should hold the FIA races every 2 hours instead of each hour. Then simply shuffle the start times (odd/even hours) for the nation and manufacturer races which gives you 10 races spread out over 10 hours.

It's still in test seasons. PD will likely expand and adjust time slots for the real seasons. For now, they're obviously just gathering data, as I've seen some of the logistics and rules of the races change through the two seasons I've done. They only need (and can probably only parse through) a relatively small amount of data, so it makes sense that it would be so restricted at first. Give it a chance. When the FIA championships really go live, raise hell if midnight races and a small selection of time slots is still an issue.
