One of GT6's most hyped features is driving on the moon (And when GT6 is hacked, if anything I really want them to hack other cars on the moon outside of the rover).
The Gran Turismo series' signature song is Moon Over The Castle (Esp in Japan).
GT6 also marks the 15th anniversary of the series.
Maybe that's why they put the moon in the game? Or am I putting too much thought into this?

It would be absolutely ridiculous to drive anything other than the moon rover on the moon. First of all, a combustion engine wouldn't even run and if anything did run you would have no grip.

Yes, that's why. The only two kinds of hacking I'm okay with is 1. to make it more realistic or 2. to do wacky things like this (NASCAR on the moon would be insanity, and it would be hilarious to see) without cheating.
Anyway, that would honestly be my only guess as to why the moon is in the game to start with. Outside of it being the home of one of the most important vehicles ever created (Why hasn't the Model T been in a GT game yet then, it basically revolutionized the car industry), but I doubt people are screaming for Mars rover DLC.

Fun! Those missions are a nice break from normal racing. And I really like the reasoning: "It has 4 wheels and an engine, so let's race it!"

Actually driving on the Moon it´s awesame, realy did enjoy it, and the music really helps seting up the mood.
And you even have a nascar style "Hit the cone" thing....

I think it's creative and unique. Not many games let you drive on the moon in the first place. I'm excited to try it.

I can name at least 15 cars that I would rather have seen modeled into GT6 than to drive the Lunar Rover on the moon.

I do, however, understand that this is the kind of "revolutionary" thing that Kaz attempts in his games and one of the features which distances GT from other racing games.

Disclaimer: I have not done the moon mission yet, so I could be swayed (but I doubt it).

I only want 2 things surrounding this:

1. I want to know that the moon is actually over the castle when doing the events.

2. A telescope camera in photomode to take pictures of the parked rover FROM the castle.
