So im at the end of my rope regarding the World Championship

So..
Right now I'm saved at race 7 of the championship, 2 points one way or the other with the R8. the R8 and Toyota 7 are the only competition, and im driving a nissan r92cp. Having finished the 7,8th races, i went into Grand Valley 2 points behind, ive struggled through the series thus far. This game causes me so much grief its not funny. I'd be cruising around 1st place, until a make a small mistake, and the R8 passes me, and procedes to get further and further awat, gaining almost a second per split ( WHY IS THIS?! ) I though my resolution was clear when he pitted, going into the 10th lap, i nursed my worn tires around, until the last turn of the last lap, The R8 was in my mirror, and i spin out, and the R8 procedes to win the race. I let out a yell of anguish like non before heard, which was greeted by a chorus of SHUTUP from throughout the house. I proceded to turn off the ps2, to revert back to before race 7. So what im asking is, am I that stupid, and that bad of driver, so I should burn my ps2, and go play in traffic?
Im really PO'd right now..

just be patient, i had a similar problem, just get as much part upgreades as needed for the '92 and drive dirty, use the 'no gt4 damage' to your advantage, mash your main rivals off in the corners, but make sure not to miss them, or may be told to shutp alot more

hope i helped

Or you could just practice driving the R92CP more, and you won't have to resort to driving dirty. (this sort of thing (driving dirty) is frowned upon at GTP).

Or learn the track.

Try using an all-motor Mazda 787B. I only had to pit on a couple races, and I know I pit ALOT more than many people. Plus it sounds like sex.

The 78b is very good with tyre's, also bear in mind if you've installed a bigger than standard turbo the car will be wheelspinning a lot more than normal. so the tyre's will be wearing faster still. What I'd do is if you have no additional power use the hardest tyre's and try to do the race on a single set, you will still have to pit for the Hong Kong race though. However if you have additional power use mediums and pit half way through the race, every race but you may need to use Hards for the Hong Kong race.

Super hards on the back, hards on the front. I had to pit about half way through each race because of my driving style. I was using my Minolta Toyota 88cv with nos. Apart from that the car was standard. But i didn't have the R8 in my races though :ouch:

Just pit at exactly half race distance, whether you need it or not. You're going to pit once anyway, and not having to go through a wear-out phase can save you enough time to make the difference.

I won all the GTWC races with the R92CP and only used a stage 4 turbo in the 2nd race. It did take me several attempts though (tokyo and opera paris were the most difficult for me as I was up against the Minolta 88C-V) as you really have to work your car setup to ensure a decent race pace.

Make sure you also qualify before entering the race but in the end having a strong car setup is the key to winning this series. Do a search for Scaff's tuning guide or alternatively search in the tuning & settings forum for setups for the R92CP.

That's not true at all. Clearly you haven't been reading the 200 A-spec point threads.

I don't see how it's not. There's generally a solution to spinning out, is there not? That solution is USUALLY practicing to find out what makes it spin out- and not doing it.

Basically, vivalasoad883, you should try to remain calm(seriously), because you're more likely to make a mistake if you're upset.

Practicing helps, but it's no use if you get upset and throw it away. 👍

I was referring, of course, to the "dirty driving" part.

But I agree with the rest of what you say; when you get frustrated and upset the best thing to do is get up, walk away, take a breather. Otherwise you make dumb mistakes, which upset you more, leading to still dumber mistakes, etc.

Who needs a stage 4 turbo to win in the worlds. I mean 88C-V, GT1, R92CP and R8 are all able to win stock. About the only thing I add is hard tyres on the rear.

Well obviously but my first run through was just for completion sakes and I'd have to admit my setup techniques and confidence perhaps weren't so good back then :P

#1 Dont put turbos in Group-C cars, turbos will increase tire wear!
#2 Dont drive dirty, drive clean, one slam into a wall could cost you several places!
#3 Lower the ride height a bit, turn off the driving aids.
#4 Dont use hard tires! You have to make a pit stop anyway so hard tires are usless, pit in the middle of the race so you have always tires with grip.
#5 I suggest you to use middle-hard tires at the rear and soft tires at the front and you will fly around the corners.

I even made it with the Toyota-7, it was quiet a bit of work but it was much fun.

The R92-Nissan is one of the best you can use at the champoinship, with a good setup It shouldn't be a problem to win all races against AI.

i think that to play it safe you should put hard racing tires on. you don't mix tires:grumpy: , you change the suspension geometry. mixing the tires makes the handling unpredictable at times. leave the ride height, leave the TCS and ASM!! unless it's a smooth track, leave the ride height. i found that its a good setup if you leave the ride height stock.

I know that. But don't use hard tyres come on what's up with that. Yeah I'll drive five laps pit in, let my 30 second lead go to a 20 second gap to fifth. Yeah that sounds like a realy good idea.

With new tires against the stupid AI wquipped with worn-out tires you should recover the lead very quickly.:sly: - If you werent leading before the pit stop.

i want a 787, need more $$$

CLK Touring Car, German Touring Championship, play in B-Spec mode(3x speed). You win a CLK-GTR which is worth like 800k.. shouldn't take you more than an hour to have enough for any car in the game

Good point. But I still don't like that idea, pitting when the AI does or after makes more sense to me. Like at soul (Probably not Spelt right) its like a 18 lap race and I pit in two laps from the end lapping three of the ai cars. Yes I'm in leading before I pit by a minute.

Bear in mind that the people giving you this advice have golded every single GTWC race in a variety of vehicles...

Here's why pitting at exactly half distance works:

1. "Pit-in when tyres go off" method.
- Initial tyre wear-in phase (2-3 laps of lower performance)
- Good tyre phase
- Tyre wear-out phase (1-2 laps of lower performance)
- Pit-in lap
- Second tyre wear-in phase (2-3 laps of lower performance)
- A couple of laps, if you're lucky, before the race ends.

So you have 5-8 laps of reduced performance and can only really make the most of one set of tyres.

2. "Pit-in at exactly half distance" method.
- Initial tyre wear-in phase (2-3 laps of lower performance)
- Good tyre phase
- Pit-in lap
- Second tyre wear-in phase (2-3 laps of lower performance)
- Good tyre phase
- Race ends.

So you have 4-6 laps of reduced performance and also make the most of two sets of tyres - and you don't have to deal with tyres going red on you either.

The first time I ever won this championship was with a fully tuned Nissan Fairlady LM, was the greatest moment i've had playing GT4 :)

Hey

I'm trying to decide on which car to use for the chamionship... Mazda 787B or Toyota GT1? I've only done about 20% of the game so I don't have a car that seems able to win the chamionship, although Fairlady LM race car in stock setup is about midfield.

So I'm Racing the Costa Amalfi Rally winning and selling the toyota rally car to save up 3.5million for 787B and 4.5 for GT1.... So which car should i save for/use to win?

If your choice is down to those two cars go for the 787B, it's cheaper and faster.

For cash, do the Deutche Touring Car Meisterschaft (aka DTM) in the European Hall instead of Costa di Amalfi. Just under 900,000 in 16 minutes using B-spec, vs 275,000 in 9 minutes.
