So, this is real racing ? Don't plan on winning regularly if you race clean vs AI

Wow, the AI is dumb, dumb dumb dumb. You follow the racing line in 1st position, slow down for the corner, BOOM, AI hits you, you spin out, you're done. I have never came back to win a race where I crashed or barely drove in the grass.

I tried something, I played on easy... I don't know what's easy, I keep getting my butt whooped in the same car races (manufacturers) and in other races, I lead for 3 laps (out of 3) and on the last lap or corner, I get hit, spin and finish in 6th, 7th or 8th place.

Worse, if you hit/push/bump someone, you will end in the grass. The game is making me MAD.

It's because the adaptive AI system puts the AI at a much greater advantage by cheating. You can lead for several laps.., but due to extreme AI rubber-banding., they'll catch up towards the end and in some cases literally ram you off the track killing your race. It has happened to me on more than on occasion

Racing clean and following the line with proper braking doesn't seem to win races in this title. The AI has very unrealistic acceleration.., and they corner on rails like mad. Add in the way overly exaggerated crash physics and it gets even worse.

It's strange, before the official release in America those that got it early were saying how incredibly easy the game is and then once the game is out others were saying the game defo gives a challenge.

I found it just right, had on easy then medium than hard. Funny ... i did not see any difference between the levels. :) I win probably a bit less than half of the races on the first try, i win a quarter of the remaining races after several retries, and i gave up on the rest but still finish on the podium. I'm a conservative driver (Not a fast driver in layman's terms.) :).

If I'm ahead of the pack i try to stay a little bit away from the racing line, so i do not get punted off track. Just focus on the track and not so much on the other cars and you should be fine.

They hit you in the back because you break too early into the corner and they didn't expect you to. The AI will actually go off their line to avoid a wreck in many situations, but they can't help that you brake too soon. Not claiming the AI is perfect but it's been good to me.

NFS STILL has AI Rubberbanding? well at least they stay true to their roots in game design...

PD, please make an expansion soon for GT5 for us to "live happily ever after", thank you

Haven't had this problem, most of my trouble is the first hairpin off the line, it's tough to get through without getting bashed around a bit.

But once things spread out a bit, I've never had a problem with the AI. I've had them spin out trying to outbreak me. I've had them spin out trying to avoid me, and I've had them hit me by diving to the inside trying to steal the line, kind of like what most real racecar drivers do...

I have 2 hours of playing (PC)... wasn't rammed once! Maybe it's your poor driving.... I found the AI much cleaner than in S1 which was a very satisfaying experience! Didn't experienced any rubberband effect either...

AI is just fine. If you get in their lane while they are braking and dont give them any room to stop, of course they'll bump you! If you drive clean and skillfully, no problems at all.

I don't feel any rubber banding at all, what I do notice is adaptive AI. When I started and was having issues driving each new race the opponents were just a bit easier but during that race they were consistent with where they started. As I got better and started winning they got better. Again between races not in races.

Then again I only have a few hours in and maybe I just haven't noticed it yet. But I do know most of the wrecks the AI have caused is because I've been sloppy on lines and they thought they could make it, much like most online opponents.

They're 99% of the time behind you, if you slow down just for a second, missed the perfect angle in a corner or brake half a second too soon, they hit you and in a lot of races, I was bumped out of the track and for some reason, when you hit someone from behind, it doesn't "bump", it plows through and you slide off the track.

guess you are like the AI in GT5..i always bump into them, so if you play as AI in GT5 then Shift 2 eats you alive. Racing is hazardous and many crash if they are not pro.
Even pros crash alot...just watch F1, a simple oilpatch or a bit of dirt on the tires and zero grip in 1/1000sec you are in the tirewall..i think many think they get a warnining before loosing grip but thats not the case if you have little downforce or the tires are not of right temp. or the tires are worn or just the nature of the tires. So if you spin out, get knocked off, get bumped into...then its your fault and nothing else and Shift2 actually is much better att this than any other game i've tried. For me Shift 2 is great.

if you give them half a chance, they will try to get inside you, and if you slow suddenly chances are they will hit you, it's pretty much like any club races in the real world.

If you drive predictably (braking consistently, not changing lane last minute) and always have your inside covered, they won't try their luck, that's what I've found out so far in shift 2, never give them half a chance.

actually if you are in their position you might go for it too.

Have you ever watched a real race? The Drivers don't weave back and forth across the road sliding and bumping into each other. Being precise, hitting your lines exactly and being consistent lap to lap is what Racing is.

If you Drive good, the AI does a good job of staying off you. If you Drive bad, the AI does a bad job of staying off you...

Gosh, I sure hope there's a tube of lube in that game box. A'durr hurr.

No, they don't... I finished some races with a comfortable margin, on other I just play the position because of my errors... adaptative AI maybe, but it also that along with you they upgrade also their cars so it's maybe why they seems to catch up with you... As I said, I'm still in the lower levels with medium powered cars (not yet GT3 or 1 or supercars) so I can just speak with my experience... maybe once their driving is pretty close, it would change... and BTW I drive elite no help and manual gears

Erm... I don`t have any problems with AI (medium) either, they even make me some space if I go to wide, even if that means that they have to hit the grass:embarrassed:
And no, they do not ram into me. Just try to break a bit later / more smooth.

after racing online a bit, I must say the AI hold their racing line a lot better and is way more predictable than many real human lol.

I put 6 hours in last night, and I don't believe the AI is rubberbanding. The AI certainly cleans up their act when you're in the lead in effort to catch you. The same way you notice more AI spins and tussles between AI cars when you're bringing up the rear. Unlike FM3 and to some extent GT5, the AI in Shift 2 doesn't appear to be allowed collision avoidance physics outside the range of the gameplay engine, and this leads to contact especially if the player brakes early. If you pay close attention in both FM3 and GT, with an AI car trailing, the game allows the AI to brake without any delay at levels beyond the leading player car in order to avoid collisions. To me, Shift has a more natural, human feel, like brake checking your buddy and getting rear ended. Any of the times I got jacked in back by the AI, I was off pace and in the race line.
