Does someone besides me drives this baby? I personally think is one of the best Mercedes Benz ever made. Sure it´s heavy, underpowered and sluggish, but man, what a beauty!

I rather stay with the SL500 for the simple reason that it´s a little bit lighter than the SL600. Plus I´m glad that PD took their time to put an actual V8 sound on it, instead of the one it had in GT4. And boy, what a sound it has now!

I just wish PD added the AMG SL73 variant some day.

Glad to see someone else loving the R129 SL. It's a fine car, indeed. I'm a fan of it too, especially that SL73. The classic, timeless look on the big '90s Mercedes-Benzes is hard to beat; I think the SL's of this era are timeless. My pick of the litter is the SL600, for it's amazing 6.0 liter V12 pumping out nearly 400 horsepower.👍

Well looky here, I just had to have and tune this car up...I totally love the SL, a couple have been in my family and I used to beg to go out in them...

Repainted to honour my Grandad's black SL600, although his didn't have 620bhp and drift or spit flames like our one over at RKM does :dopey:

My Dad owns one, it's an early model 500SL. Black on black and aside from the interior being a little rough from 19 years of use and sun it's still a wonderful car. The way it runs at highway speed and the way it stops you'd never think it weighs as much as it does. It's almost funny though that the modern day V6 puts out almost identical power.

A R129 was actually my first real experience with a car that was of "supercar" caliber. It was a 1999 SL600 prepped by Renntech. Armed to the teeth, this monster put out every bit of 500 horsepower. I was informed it also cost more than my parent's house.

In game I pick them up every chance I get, like all Mercedes they need a stage 1 weight reduction at the very least to really bring out the best of them. Personally though, I'm at W201 guy.

Wish my Grandad had an SL600. Mine has an '00 Lexus ES300 that he can't even drive anymore. :dunce: Ah well, it's still a nice car. Very, very low to the ground though.

I've also always wanted the SL73 to be added by PD, but oh well :grumpy:

I've posted this before but here goes nothing

There's a mistake in the description of the Mercedes SL500 (R129). In the description page it states "At the time of its debut, the SL was powered by a 5.0 liter DOHC V8 that produced 302 HP and 339 ft-lb of torque."
This is inaccurate, this car was powered by two different V8s the M119 and the M113

M119 was a DOHC 32V V8 from 1989 till 1998 with few changes in fuel injection systems:
1989-1992 had 322 HP and 354 ft-lb of torque
1993-1998 had 315 HP and 345 ft-lb of torque

M113 was a SOHC 24V V8 with dual sparks from 1999 till 2002 on the R129
302 HP and 339 ft-lb of torque

The 5 speed transmission was introduced in 1996 in the V8 and V12 models, they previously had a 4 speed.

There's another mistake in the design of the R129 in GT5, if you look closely at the rear license plate you'll see that it doesn't fit the body of the car. In real life there is an Amercian spec with the square license plate panel and a Euro spec for the rectangular license plate. GT5 put a Euro plate in an American spec rear panel.

On a side note, yes I do have a lot of free time on my hands.

This can be fixed. 👍 However, more particularly in the R230 models.
