Hi all,

Long time reader, first time poster.

Just wanted to share an experience that I had in an online lobby last night. Given the negativity shrouding this game currently, I thought it would be nice to share a good story about GT and its online community.

I had just purchased a lovely new Honda NSX, and tuned it to just under 550pp. with Sports soft tyres. Jumping into the online lobby, i found a 'lets share setups' room on the Nurburgring. I jumped in and started driving. (what a car by the way).

After about 15 minutes, the room host started the first of many 1 lap races. With 10 others in the room, I thought 'this is going to be chaos'. Boy, was I wrong. Ten blokes, flogging their cars, racing clean, results differing after each race. What a blast. A few minor bumps and accidents, but thats racing.

It was by far the best fun I have had on GT.

Cheers guys. I look forward to contributing to this site that has kept me glued to it for many years now.

I hope you sent a friend request to the host and maybe a couple of the participants. Good rooms are not easy to find in GT so linking up with a host and some good racers then joining their lobbies when they are online is a useful strategy:tup:

Welcome to the forums. 👍 As far as your experience, every once in a while you do get lucky like that and find a online room like you described. If you didn't, the best thing you could have done in that case was send a friend request to everyone in that room. That way, next time you go online, you know who to look for, for some more good, clean racing. Odds are that they probably have other friends that are good, clean racers also. Its an easy way to get a friends list of good racers. Anyways, thanks for the positive story and hope you have more experiences like that in the future.

EDIT: TREED......Damnit Johnny. (Great minds think alike I guess. :P)

That would be great. I would love to be a part of a regular race group, but unfortunately I just don't get the time I used to.

I would play for at least 3 hours every arvo after work a few years back. Now I am lucky to get that in a week.:irked:

Welcome to the marvelous and funny world of actually posting @ GTP :)

As the friends above said, one of the best advices is to add people that you find around as good racers... another hint I give you, try to keep into the "popular" PP range, such as 450-500-550... I usually race @ 450PP using Sports Hard and that's a pretty sweet spot to find good racers. When we switch to Nordschleife it really gets intense!

You have just named exactly what I love to do. 500pp on the Nurburgring is as intense as it is fun.

I was lucky enough to do 6 laps on the Nurburgring back in Septmeber 2012 when the GP bikes were on, so naturally the Nordschleife was busy busy busy.

It's rare, but once in a while you'll get these rooms. I haven't gotten any since the GT5 days. Then again, I don't go online very often. The biggest mistake for me was not sending friend requests.
