some questions about tuning...

i've been playing gt3 off and on since it first came out, but just recently i've become really addicted to it. i guess it's cuz i'm actually getting better and winning races, cash and loads of great cars. now i wanna get deeper into the game and start tuning my ride before races. i just want to get some pointers on how to do certain things.

first, what do i do to get better acceleration. i don't want advice saying things like buy a turbo or na kit for more hp. or get the weight reduction upgrade. i already know these things. i just want tips on tuning the car in the tuning and settings menu. so anyway, i also want to know how to get a higher top speed. and lastly, how do i get the car to have better handling going around curves.

can someone please just say where to go for each one. i'll have time to discover which settings work best, all i want to know is what settings to adjust for each thing(better accel, higher top speed, and better handling). thanks

Take a read through the LSD tuning threads, and you'll see that each one is interlocked with another.

There is no real "Holy Grail" set-up that makes each car handle best. For instance, Sukerkin and I each set-up a WRX wagon, we had very similar times aroung Laguna Seca, but drastically different settings.

Different people have different driving styles. For months, (and nearly 3 full trips through the game) I played the game with out touching the LSD. never gave it much attention, as the effects were too sublte for me to notice. When I did knwo what to look for, I was amazed at how much effect it had. Likewise with camber.

If you are looking for "standard" cookie cutter settings, check ww.gtvault.com (I think). If you are looing for help and hints, post it up here, with as much description as you can.

Couldn't have put it better myself AO :)!

Soccstv, if you explain what you want to get out of car and post the mods done to it and what track you want to use it on I'm sure you'll soon get a number of opinions on what to do.

Some of these will match your driving style and some wont; like Alta says there is no such thing as a perfect generalised set-up (though there are a few terrible ones :D) and the requirements for FR/MR, FR and 4WD are all different.

If you experiment with the advice people give you then you'll soon learn what works for you and what doesn't.

Depending on how deep into this you want to go, then a viable option is to trawl the net looking for sites that detail 'real world' tuning experiences. This is how I learned the ropes tuning wise for GT3 and you'll be surprised how accurately the physics engine in the game mirrors the behaviour of real-life inspired suspension adjustments. It really is as close to a touring car driving simulator as we've got for the PS2 (just don't expect as much from the Rally section!)..

The best way to get better acceleration OR the best top speed with the same HP on your car (you can´t have both at the same time) is throught the transmission settings.

By adjusting the "general" ratio level (you need the full costumizable transmission for this), you can have better acceleration (close ratio) or the better top speed (long ratio).

To make a car go better around the curves, you have to deal with a LOT of factors, especially related to the suspension settings.

Maybe you should look around FAQ´s.

Or learn a little bit more about how cars handle and react in real life. I think this is the key for good tuning!

as above....

more down force = less acceleration but more grip :)

got adjustable down force? take off as much as you can and see it accelerate faster (but loose it in the corners :P)

disagree do you? :odd:

then your view on downforce would be? :embarrassed:

also it is my view that less downforce = more speed...

of course if you have less downforce on a high powered car then it may induce wheel spin...

i have a quick question. please dont think im dumb. i dont know how to tune my cars in gt3. please someone tell me how. i also dont know how to make a new post cause im new to this site. pleae help me with that too.
