How many versions of GT2 are there? Is seems the one i ahev si far too easy sometimes. There is a guy for example on one of the threads who said that the AI is usaully all over hom when ever he brakes at the last corner of the Laguna Seca race cource and he sometimes even runs off into the wall or the grass. Whenever i race at that course, i am no less than 3 seconds sometimes way ahead of everybody. How come? Am i that good or is the AI too slow? or is it the version i have (Provided there are various versions?) I need a challenge. In Enduros, i usually lap everybody several times, except the Toyota GT1 which i can only usually lap twice or thrice.

Help, Help, Help please!!!

I think it is par for the course. The enduros that have "street cars" like xk8's and subarus will always mean you will lap em a handful of times. Enduros like ss5 and LS which have tougher cars mean you only win by a lap or so. The AI competition is generally poor, but then again, most people pick cars that are head and shoulders above the AI for fear of losing (I'm not saying that is you, but just generally :) )

The thing however is, even when i go to the GT500 races with a car like the RX-7 LM, IS 200 LM and The Dodge Concept Car LM (sub 600 HP cars) there is still about a 3sec gap, even at the Super Speedway. I think the AI cars tends to brake too much into turns and therefore don't carry that much speed out of the turns!!

Yeah the AI cars are not very good at driving. Thus, if you want a challenge, you'll have to drive cars slower than theirs should be.

You are actually right. Have you ever played the F1 2000 game? Now that game has some serious AI cars. hard as nails to beat!!

Actually yes. :) It's my second favorite, after the GT series.

It's hard enough just getting around the course with a respectable time with no driver aids on without spinning, let alone racing anyone!

(I'm talking about the version for the PC, I dunno if they dumbed it down any for the PSX if that's the one you're referring to... )

The PS1 version is so hard!! you might be leading a race, but come 5 laps to go, everybody will be on your tail waiting for a mistake (M.Schumacher especially!!) and when you do make one, at least 6 cars will pass you and you will not catch them. The French and the British Grand Prixs are very hard!!

"How many versions of GT2 are there"? Poated by cmviper.
There are thee(3) versions of GT2:
Version 1.0, sometimes called the buggy version.
Version 1.1, somewhat fixed version, but still has a lot of bugs.
version 1.2, this is called The Greatest Hits version which is suppose to be fixed but still has a couple of bugs in it.
I hope this helps someone out. crb

I have 1.0 and 1.2, and I can't tell a difference in the AI's ability. Pretty limited in both releases.

The AI driving I found is very similar to realistic racer style. It is very gentle and non aggressive. Whereas the player, many ppl drive aggressively and recklessly(you dont gotta care bout the car in GT, its not gona cost you a penny if you crash). Wall slamming is a symptom of aggressiveness, and so is spinning out much too often. Also, only in GT ALL STARS and the GT300 and GT500 series is there any challenge at all. The rest of the races, are ***** races. For instance, don't you ever wonder 'Wow, my 300hp car kicked the 594hp race cars' asses! I must be superman!'? There ya go. AI sux.

The best races you'll ever win are the toughest, try to race 591 HP races with a Toyota MR2 99', or try to win red rock (All stars) with the FTO trampio.

These are the only replays I have ever saved.

Cheers

There are no changes in the AI in any of the versions. They simply were made to be updates with bugs, etc. The AI is incredibly easy in this game if you play it right. That means you must be playing it right. :)

Its true, the AI tends to race like in real life, minimizing damage to the cars. I drive GT2 to beat my own records and that means fast and furious. But that don't mean i hit walls or anything or spin out (except when using the TVR Speed 12 sometimes, damn car weights too little and has way too much power, Tarction Control doesn't do nothing!)

Sorry man but iwas acrually refering to F1 2001 (PS1 version). I have also played F1 2000 on the PS1 and in terms of presentation and driver views, the latter is better but with AI difficulty, the former is way more intensive!!! Sorry bout the mix-up!

I treid your suggestion and tried used an under-pwerd car so as t get some serious competition. I got the Amamiya RX-7 (GT300) and used iy to race in the GT500 championship. They were all over me on all the starights but i had them in the corners, won the championship though and all the races. On the first race, at the Laguna Seca race course, i beat the Danso Supra by .001 of a second, close as hell.

Try the third Historic race at Rome long. It says '295hp' limit, but there is usually an AI Ford GT40 (305hp) on the grid. That provides the closest racing when I use a fully modded BMW 320.
