this is the one reason i have joined these forums, though i have used the drift guides and stuff b4...

i want to know this one thing....will the customization/tuning in GT5 final product be improved upon to GT4's?

If not i will be very upset as i have just bought a PS3 especially for this game and i will lose alot trading it in for XBox/Forxa2...

I opted for the PS3/GT5 option as i am a loyal person and have always loved this mix...but tuning has always been a let down in GT since GT2...especially the lack of options to add custom paint jobs and body parts....

I dont know, i love the series and feel to stick with it because i know it will be good, but i feel like i have made a mistake, maybe some of you could help me feel better?

By the way names dan, from london, sorry for such a pessimistic first post...

On the plus, good things of GT5 are cockpit views, amazing gfx (obviously), changing weather i hear about, and also Ferraris, any news on porsches? Man ill take a breath now, hope for some replies :dunce:

just a quick edit, i thought i would enhance my question. i dont mean better like oh my god i need custom body kits and nine million different induction kits, i would just be interested in an enhanced customising experience...like more interesting images and animations during upgrades...

thi probably hasnt even been mentioned by PD or Sony so i would happily wait and see, but i am curious if there has been any news or shots of the interface/system...

i loved how in original GT they had those cool moving images when you spec'd ur car.

Oh and custom paint jobs/parts would be nice...

I think you're being a little hasty.

For one thing, GT5 won't be out till next year sometime, so we have no idea what's going to be included.

For another, Forza 2 has it's own issues. I need to do a review of it as I really dig the thing, but it's far from perfect and has numberous bugs besides the shortcomings. Add the fact that the 360 and it's peripherals are poorly built and prone to break - everything I bought with my Elite broke, the hand controller out of the box was bad. This makes owning Forza a game of russian roulette. The customizations and livery editor are fantastic, but having vinyls slipping around after you finish is a pain!

What's more, even though the Prologue demo has a ways to go in the physics and car behavior department, it still made Forza 2 seem inferior. It does help that the Logitech wheels work very well with the PS3 and feel much more responsive.

Prologue isn't going to have much in the way of customization as I understand it. I believe it's limited to the Arcade Mode adjustments we had in GT4. But I'm not worried. I want to play with those 40 cars and get my feet wet with online competition. Even though I seem to be 5 seconds behind the guys on the leaderboards. :P

Thanks for your post.

I agree i have been hasty and i realise it, i think it was just nerves after spending so much on something just to play this one game. I've always been a Gran Turismo'r, it would not have felt right not having this generation. And as you say, Forza too has some clearly documented downfalls. As does Xbox.

As i've said, i just hope that they will do much more and different things with the tuning this time round. In my mind it is the only let down of the series so far.

By the way can i just ask, am i the only one to keep a little book of record times around the Ring in GT4?? :)

no your not the only one keeping records.Me and my cousins have tabulated a list of 1/4 mile, standing 1km,top speed and fastest lap of Tsukuba for almost all the cars in GT4.Seemed like the only thing to prolong the game play as there was no online etc.
