Hey GTP, I'm a huge fan of drifting ever since I saw the anime Initial D.

I currently drift cars completely bone stock or a couple of upgrades (to boost the HP)

Not that great at drifting, but I think I'm a God in my own world :sly:

I've uploaded a replay of my drifting style, want to know what you guys think.
Also want to know if it's recommended to tune my suspension setup and stuff

You need to download this onto a USB and play it on your PS3

There's an entire thread for people to post drift settings, go check it out and fiddle with yours to see what suits best.

+ There's no such thing as too much power when it comes to drifting, contrary to popular belief :sly: TUNE IT!

I think a billion hp might be a bit twitchy

i think you will be disappointed with the drifting scene if initial d got you interested in sideways . . . all they do is go around tsukuba endlessly on rubbish tires and there's no winning or losing. it's all for looks so it doesn't matter how dang slow you go people will still think it's cool.

you should actually tune cars to 450pp or 500pp with sports hard tires and go check out LOTS (legends of the streets)
It's badass.

Trolls will be Trolls. :sly:

You just made LOTS look reaaalll bad sir. Nice 👍

=p

I played online for the first time last night,

to be honest it WAS actually kinda fun just doing fun laps on tsukuba with a bunch of people, though I WAS trying to find an eigernordwand (or whatever ) room . . .

that was untill some twerp switched to an f1 and started ramming everyone, then it became not-so-fun.

Maybe I would enjoy something less angle-oriented and more race-oriented, I think.

And no one on the nurburgring is interested in disallowing the racing tires! so that kinda sucked too . . . oh well, it was totally worth trading in my ps3 =D

I don't care about competition. It's all about the style IMO

Im kinda new to. I been drifting with GT5 with RX7 spirit r type a and AEM S2000 for about week and a half and the community is cool. im getting the hang of the cars throttle, gears, and steering control. all i need to learn is the entry points. If you want to drift with me, my PSN is domino5343.

I often have a room on the 24h Nurb with only SH or less allowed, no aids, 600PP and real edge. It's the only way to keep the fgt and x1 goons away :)

Exactly.

Edit: Also for the newcomers, the FC Rx7 Premium is the ultimate (imo) learner drift and tuning car. It is the proverbial ae86 of gt5. The actual SS ae86 is not really what Initial D makes it out to be.

I dont know why people think its easy to drift that car because of the show. Throughout the show, people always reference to the car as old, slow, and difficult to maneuver. They said at the beginning that the AE86 dont have a ABS but have a Human ABS. I just want the trueno for the show (its so rare and i cant find one)but i might not drift it yet because im still learning.

You're completely right. I think the dad says that it will make him the perfect driver by learning it because he has made it into the perfect car, but honestly I think it has too many flaws to really be the perfect car, but my FC is an amazingly neutral handling machine which allows you to work on technique instead of fighting a car while trying to learn, so I would argue that it is the perfect car. Although if you can make the SS perform like the FC, that would prove some skill. :) If you can do it with no ABS, you are a better man than me. lol

HAAAATE the x1 jerks!

I stayed up like 2 hours past my bed time last night playing in an open drift room, I gotta say, I'm over whatever my issue was with it in the first place, if I wanted to race I'd . . . join a race.

IT IS FUN!

there was like like 10+ people all doing their own thing, sometimes you scoot to the side and wait for someone to come by that you want to try some impromptu tandem . . . there's like 2-3 people drift-racing around the track, a handfull of pairs or groups tandems going on, the tolken n00bie-guy who crashes to the outside or spins out every corner but is sensible enough gtfo the way,
It's all around just a fun hang-out sess.

gotta love it.
especially when you DO find a good tandem partner and you are mirror-fencing through the corners and . . . geez it was worth every one of the 160 dollars I spent to get a proper machine to play online!

about ABS - this is just coming from a ds3 user : Isn't it better to play with ABS off so that when you want to slide NOW you can just mash it, and if you want to slow down you half-depress it. . .

this might be different with pedals, if they don't "feel" like real brakes, it would be tougher to threshold brake I bet.

OH AND the AE86 in the show is a race car not a drift car which is probably why it's not the "best" for drifting. Also, short wheel base can be spinny outty for new drivers.

Exactly. I hate being in a tuning room or free run and people start races. So usually it's better to just make my own and see who shows up. :)

I'm a ds3 user as well and previous hks user, but for me on either of them I leave the abs on 1 and it makes the braking drifts a bit more controllable. Usually I set my lsd to 58 on the brake setting which really allows for the sucker to slide the way I like with just a slight bit of wheel lock up on the front. I am also an avid handbrake user, so I'm used to completely locking the back wheels, but prefer not to lock the front ones as much. When I turn abs off It's about the same but I have to be extra touchy with the brakes and sometimes extreme hard braking will completely lock the front and plant me in the wall, so I just leave it on.

YES hand brake can make the coolest looking slides! I used to hate it but I found out the hand brake is good on stuff like when you're on grand valley reverse, when you go over the bridge you can smear your bumper on the wall heading into the tunnel by doing the feint drift to get your bumper next to the wall, then hold it there and delay your entry with the ebrake before you use the gas to drift away into the tunnel . . .

the reason I like ABS off is I can choose to lock them when I want to lock them . . . a little bit harder to do with abs hehehe
then again I also have my brake balance at like 4-6 or 5-7

usually 4-6 for racing because I get excited and press it more and I don't want to lock and ZING into the wall =p
