Sound glitch after update?

Yesterday I did the F430 challenge on Daytona (A-??) and noticed that I sometimes heard the loud crash sound without my car hitting anything. Then I noticed that when I hit something with the back of my car ( slightly to the side I think), the sound would be delayed. I haven't done thorough testing, but thought I'd post it here to see if anyone else had this problem.

I already found the workaround: not crashing :-)
 
Seconded, I've seen this on Suzuka too when going under the bridge (there weren't cars going over the bridge :P )
 
Nope, I've only driven the F430 once directly after the update.

It happened in the California during the Ferrari challenge.

It's also happened during an arcade 'race' in a DB9 at London Reverse.

I'd guess it's a glitch and not related to a specific combo.

+1 heard it going through Casio in the GT06 with no other car in sight, in front or behind.
 
I have noticed the faint sound of tire squeeling when I'm on the straight and there are no other cars around.
 
I've noticed it too. In the California @ Suzuka.
I put it down to extreme lag at the time, but you guys have given me hope.👍
 
I get that too, usually in same spot of the track, for example in the Fuji's first corner after main straight, when exiting, there's a clear sound of crash even if I'm far ahead ( or behind) of other cars. I thought that some other cars were bumping into each other..
 
Am I right to say that these sounds are not delayed, but just pop up once in a while?

My initial thought was that it was delayed by a second or two, but I couldn't say for sure.

You almost sound like you're trying to compile a bug report. If we weren't talking about the apparently completely closed off PD, I'd suspect you were :)
 
Noticed this the other day as well.

I didn't even hit the wall at Daytona, I was just close to it. I still got a loud crash sound (No Penalty though).
 
I've had this too, I think I was using the Mine's Skyline on Suzuka, I remember hearing the sound of being hit but there was nothing around and I didn't get the usual effects of being crashed into, i.e. dying and/or losing the race. I thought it might have been a pair of AI cars, but again, there weren't any close enough.
 
I watched my buddy plow sideways into a barrier on Fuji Speedway with the Lotus Elise 111R /Tuned. A second later, the game realized we were missing something. "BLAM!"
 
I experianced this GLITCH on Daytona OVAL doing S missions 780pp (i think)
I was doing a sharp turn, was away about 10-15 feet from the wall, yet I hear a car slam, many times since I was doing same event to raise quick 1,000,000cr
4out of 10 times it happens to me in Daytona.

Actually I am a bit. The fact that no information comes out of PD doesn't mean no info goes in. Game developers use forums a lot to check on every aspect of their game. This probably increased with the relatively new possibility to update console games.
There are probably a few guys from PD on this forum, maybe even adding to the discussion. Their NDA most likely states that they are not allowed to post their relationship to PD on a forum (imagine what would happen then), so you'll never know if they are there. But if PD wants this game to be perfect they'll definately check a thread named "Sound glitch after update" :)

Besides that, I just wanted to know if I was going crazy, or if there really was a delay in sound / imaginary collision generator.

Do you think perhaps they've tweaked the collision detection in preparation for damage, and this is causing it?

I mentioned in another thread (that disappeared pretty quickly) about how the cars appear to have a 'force field' around them (i.e when two cars 'collide', they don't actually touch, an invisible box around them does).

Someone mentioned that this is probably just to make collision detection easier to calculate, which seems fair.

Perhaps this invisible box of collision detection is a bit tall, and hitting the bridge :scared:

Although it's odd that the 'collisions' don't affect the car at all, just trigger the sound. Maybe not then... :indiff:

We can only hope, and to me it does sounds like a fair reason.

Well, that I doubt some more. What about the tunnel at Eiger? Same problem?

I'm gonna stay optimistic and hope that incoming damage is the reason :D

I thought that too, in my case, sometimes when I hit a car on the rear there is no sound at all. I have also experienced the glith you guys are talking.
