Spectator glitch?

The weirdest thing just happened, I entered the beginner sports car race at HSR, except when the race started my car wasn't in the race and I was watching the race though the camera views that come up during the pre-race menu (the nice panning shots). None of the controls did anything except the start button, so I just watched the other three cars go around, it was definitely online because the tags where showing and they where running into each other. After the race it skipped the "you came Xth" screen and went back to the pre-race menu.

Has anyone else had this happen? Anyone know how to make it happen?
 
Its happened to me a few times, but that was a while ago. It hasnt happened in the last 2 months.
 
It happened to me too. But it was kinda worth it because it was a really good race and I got to see some really good Spec Shots of some of the intense racing. Too bad there isn't a spec view to begin with.
 
it happened to me about half a year ago (specII i think) on fuji, but i spectated the race in chase view of a participating blue f430. weirdly, i couldn´t see this cars online-ID whilst the others´ being fine.
 
It has also happened to me. Makes you wonder how such a thing is possible if they haven't put it in the game yet.
 
Never happened with me, but i hope it will now lol. Most likely a feature in the game which hasn't been unlocked yet.
 
Its happened at Daytona Rd,& Fuji before.Like others have said may be something in the game already that sometimes "pops"up.
 
That hasn't happened to me but other strange things have. At high speed ring sometimes i get started way back or much closer to the next car. In one 12 player race the leader was past turn 1 way before i got to the start finish line. I won the race anyway.
 
still on the glitch topic has anyone while online either:

1. been shot miles ahead before every has control of thier car, because this has happened to me and i've seen it happen to other racers who then become almost impossible to beat with a rolling start they are about 25-30 seconds ahead

2. seen a racer called OFFLINE with the country code as [--]
is this a pd test car do you think, however when i saw it (on the hsr supercars in a grey nsx) it was driving awfully and shunted me off, so maybe not

No. 1 has happened to me but not no. 2. Thats was on the hsr beginner track.
 
Well i don't feel left out!

This has happerned to me about 4 times a while age

I have seen a car called OFFLINE[--]

I have seen big leads at the start... Ive seen it all.
 
Guess I am a fortunate one , I have not encountered that situation yet.Maybe have to go with Matt1245's idea , " feature in the game which hasn't been unlocked yet " , don't really know.

s15specr - OFFLINE , is a connection deal of some sort. I have been online racing , but my screen name says OFFLINE , it's kind of hard to explain - your online actually racing , but your name is not registering to the server I guess , but yet it knows there is a real driver there participating , it is wierd though.

I've seen 'OFFLINE' [--] a few times.
'OFFLINE....' or maybe 'OFFLINE___' is someone's tag as well, either from CA or US, I forget.

Last night on Expert DRC, the spacing at the start wasn't uniform between any of the 5 starters.
 
I had the OFFLINE tag like 3 times in the last couple of months. But on topic, how did the view looked like?? As if you were watching a replay of a race, however it is an online?? Can you explain it a little. I'm kind of interested in this....
 
It never happen to me, all though I wish it did. Spectator online mode and see some guys drift would be nice.

Thats I would like to see how it works... I drift a lot with a lot of people (sometimes even up to 10 in the same room) and if we had Online Replays, that would help us make the best GT drift videos ever!! lol
Thats something could really give to us GT5P users. I really don't think that adding Online Replays so that they can be saved after a race would be too hard.

It was the same as the background scenes on the last menu before you start the race (the one with start, replay, quick tune etc), except there was no menu and you could see that there was other cars on the track, it doesn't follow the cars around like in the replay so you just see bits of the race.
 
Happened to me in a beginner event. I saw my Lancia come round the final corner at Suzuka east, then all of a sudden I never cut to car view. I ended up watching nobody in particular but just floated around spectator views.
 
It has happened to me one, and it was a worthwhile glitch! :)

I think it is a bug / glitch and completely unintentional, and not a secret feature.

Paulie: there is no reason why it wouldn't work as an accident / glitch (without a poper spectator implementation). The online race is still taking place, it's just that we're viewing it from different cameras (the same cameras that switch around the track in the online track menu screen, before hitting start to join).
 
Yeah I had that a while back...

Also had it where I was sat on the front row on the grid and was rammed from behind before the race had even started!
 
Yea its happened to me a couple of weeks ago on fuji 10 lapper i was stuck on the grid when the race started,but to the others i was not there because my mate was in the same race and he told me i was not on the grid,but the noise of the cars as they went past and through me at 150 mph was fantastic.
 
i think this would be a cool feature just to have anyway. its already in gtp as a glitch so why not just add this feature in an update.

Ever since the server maintenence and the PS3 upgrade it's been happening a lot more often. I've gotten the Offline tag myself, a few times.
