TVR Speed 12 “Road Car”

Legends are proud to offer the iconic TVR Speed 12 “Road Car” for sale. With its awe-inspiring looks and astonishing performance, the Speed 12 is one of the most memorable hyper cars ever produced.

Four racecars were built, whilst the road car was always evolving in the background. There were supposed to be a number of road cars built to homologate the racecars and also to sell to the public however this never happened as the car was felt to be far too fast to sell to the general public and hence only one road car was ever built.

The car was used very sparingly by TVR as a major PR device (i.e. Goodwood Festival of Speed, etc.), then sold to the current owner in Sept 2003 who then spent 3 years further developing it with TVR. The last iteration of the engine used heads developed by Dallara, full carbon-fibre body work, a brand new latest-spec Hollinger sequential flat-shift gearbox and the whole rear end of the car was rebuilt using all titanium parts.

The car has been used about 5 times - The drive through London (where it made the 6 O'clock ITN National news) on the way to the Sony (Polyphony) Gran Turismo 4 launch (Sony based all of the visuals and sound of the car on this Speed 12), the test that was done by EVO magazine, the drive up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with Tiff Needal driving.

It is believed that there is one racecar that went directly from the factory to Japan but without an engine. The other three racecars were destroyed. That means there are two cars left, one racecar in Japan and the only road car, which is offered here.

Weight 950kg. An under stressed 820bhp and 650 ft lbs of torque. Twice the power to weight ratio of a Bugatti Veyron! British Beef at its best. Please inquire for further details. Trades considered.

"Trades considered"... how about straight-up for my 2004 Chevy Venture!

The guy from Prodigy finally realized he wouldn't always be bathing in tubs of money?

I saw that car in the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu last week, there's nothing about it on thier website though.

How!? If I had an abundance of currency, I would buy that sucker in a second (and be dead the next)!
It's a legendary car, but far from the most practical or user friendly thing around. And that's merely in comparison to other ultra-cars.

OT-> I alway see the Speed 12 is this version:

BT-> But if I had the money just for sheer craziness, I'd take it. :)

Since when do people buy hyper cars for either of those 2 things?
If I was a rich man this would definatly be on a list of cars to have for sheer insanity.

Untill you can contemplate just how unruly this car is, you won't understand why people aren't queuing up to buy it.

This is why nobody wants it.

It was said the driver never went over 1/4 throttle. And it was driven on old race slicks.

Back when I was following this car (and the owner was posting and answering questions on that site's forum) they actually had no idea how much power it had, because it broke the last dyno it was on, and it was rated for 1000hp.

I don't care if anyone else wouldn't want it, I do want it.....period and wish I had the moolah to buy the sucker!

I've always loved the TVR Cerbera. My love for the Cerbera first spawned with the Speed 8 from the moment it came out, topping the 993 Turbo as the favourite of mine at the time. The looks of the car were stunning and the 4.2L V8 it first came with was a beautiful sounding motor. The AJP8 still rates in my Top 5 ever and is still such a cool car!!

When they went from the original Cerbera to the Cerbera Speed 6, I felt it was a backward step but they then responded with the Cerbera Speed 12, the ultimate expression of absolute aggression from a road car, bar none. 800hp+ in a package under 1000kg, yes please!! I wanted this 240mph coffin, and always wished at the time that they would've pitted this against the McLaren F1 and watch the Speed 12 walk away from it....but it never happened. :(

However, being as mental as I am, if I ever roll in mountains of $$$ and bought this car, I'd take the sucker back to TVR for more development....like rebuilding the motor for fitting a couple of nice sized turbos (GT42's minimum!) onto that V12 and shoot for a reliable 1500hp+. Plus I would beef up the rear end even more and look for some Michelin 'Veyron spec' tyres on there and go for the ultimate record for a road car now...300mph!! 👍

Then it would be Veyron, what Veyron?? Oh, you mean that tiny speck way back in the mirror. :D

Here's some quite frankly terrible pictures of it at the GT4 launch party held in London, 2005. The room was dark and my camera was bad, so apologies!:

Kaz was at the launch party, and he stopped in the middle of an interview to get up close and hear the thing being fired up!
