Depends what you were going for and if you had the option to edit it or if it's film... It's really flat but if it's supposed to look old and "film" then it's works sorda (underexposed)
There isn't really an interesting focus other than the angle of the photo. The headlight the wheel or the bumper feature aren't overly interesting... So that's a challenge to make a good picture and couple that with not enough contrast and I'd rate the picture neutral to uninteresting....

Believe me a lot of photography I do is not great and your "eye" for what you're wanting to capture can't be explained - so it's hard to judge based on what you were going for... Look to Ansel Adams for your B/W inspiration.... The measures he took to get rediculous levels of contrast is what makes his B/W photography amazing...


Edit: also my eye doesn't like too much blue tint in my B/W...

I really appreciate the feedback, you two! I'm still very new to this kind of photography, so I'm trying what I can.
 
If your camera allows you to choose a faster shutter speed then you will get a bit of a darker photo... (More contrast perhaps based on lighting) of it allows for a slower shutter speed then perhaps you can go for more of a "high key" (google it) image and that could make a boring subject pop depending on execution.... I only know how to make an image look amazing using my photo editing abilities... Doing with a camera is an art and why you must pay attention in class grasshopper

I want to actually.mention that the negative for that picture was near perfect black. I got lucky that it even developed right.

if you are new to B&W photography, you might want to pick the object which can give you more definition, ie more contrast, sharp edge, thus you can make the object more "pops".

try shooting at building or trees as a starting point, things with lines and shadows, thus the composition will have lots of contrast.

the problem of your pictures is too plain and too soft, the car doesn't "pop-out" from the pic, it almost blends into the background, you should take it when it has more sunlight but not at noon time, either moring or later afternoon when then sun "shoot" the object at an angle.

and make sure don't over expose otherwise the composition will turn out too bright thus it'll look like a piece of white cloud.


check this one out, the sun hit the tree at an "angle", thus you can the the "pattern" on the wood becomes very define, very simple object but you can see how the natural light can bring out all the details when you "use" it at the right time.

I took my photo at about 3 in the afternoon, so I didn't notice the poor contrast. Could the color of the car have messed up the contrast or was it just poor lighting?
 
Black and white is black and white and should be void of any color tint... It's probably old film or something - but as Alex said you need lighting for black and white to create more dynamic range... Highlights and shadows etc...
Other than the film I don't know why the photo came out with the tint on the whole image...

And yes I will be at casual night Thursday!!

It's on pearl paper, that might be why it seems tinted.

Now that we've hit the SAC milestone of our 310th page I feel I should provide you fellas with a casual night agenda you won't soon forget. Well that may only be true for some as other will be too drunk to remember anything at all.

I also want to send out another shout-out to @GTracerEHTeam @alcheng and @FAN_Lawless for the great race this past weekend. I know i'm repeating myself but I was very proud to see you guys there and not only that it was just very cool to see that race.

Anyhoo, I was on here for a reason and again, when you guys do see the agenda, if you feel anything could be changed to make it better, let me know.

Race 1 - Starts at 8:05 precisely. This will be a one make race at Deep Forest with the usual 5 laps but be careful people as the damage will be set to heavy. This will make that first turn critical.
Race 2 - Vision GT Cars VFT and 625PP damage back to normal.
Race 3 - VFt and 550PP
Race 4 - Ayrton Senna is back with 10 laps at Indy.
Race 5 - VFT and 575PP
race 6 - Lets head back to @sgohsixthree territory and do a few laps at Laguna Seca. Vision GT cars at 600pp.
race 7 - What would a night of racing be without a Dirty NASCAR race.
Race 8 - Tsukuba circuit (yep, the little one). boost and slipstream set to strong. 500PP any car.
Race 9 - Matterhorn race no BS and 550PP any car
race 10 - Autumn Ring mini Kart race. exact kart TBD or should I say VFK.
Race 11 should time permit - 1 lap around special stage route X with whatever you've got (no redbull cars though). Although BS will be on for this one also.

See you all on the track.
