Spring rate

I know i'm a noob, and I have searched and cant find the answer to my question.
I want to know if the spring rate number is lower, the harder it is, and the higher the number, the softer it is?
As I'm confused when tuning my car. I'm not asking what the effect it will have on my car, just to understand the settings.

Urghh, I've been doing the opposite, setting the number low as possible to get it hard as possible, but i've just been making it softer! :( Thanks lol

Depends on whether you believe that "all suspension settings are backwards" crowd who happily add confusion to the GT series since GT1. :)

Lower # is definitely softer springs, you can test it yourself on any high speed corner with a rumble strip. The final turn at Deep Forest is a great example. Raise the spring rate way up and take that corner, allow your front right to touch that rumble strip on exit and it will shoot you strait into the pit wall. Soften the springs and run the same line, barely feel the strip.

Yeah but this can be taken to an extend! Backwards, as the front setting is actually the rear setting or a low number means a high number or even both? So a low front spring rate is then a hard rear spring rate ;)

There is something a bit weird with it! I have my problems with dampers! High dampers # means it compresses or extends slower? Or faster?

Higher number = more resistance

High comp = high resistance to compression

High ext = high resistance to compression

High resistance = slower

Low resistance = faster
