Hi all.
I've just bought a Datacolor Spyder4 Elite with the TV upgrade. Calibrated my Panasonic GT60 on it last night and I was loving each step of it taking the readings and me adjusting the different levels of everything. It was a bit of fun. Then the process finished and I was left baffled at how they never bothered to include the adjustment of the individual colour channels.
I emailed the firm I bought it off and expressed my disappointment, and how I had hoped for a more thorough and precise adjustment process. They replied telling me that the HCFR software might be able to satisfy me. I downloaded it this evening and got it installed and running........but it is a nightmare to use. I understand they quote that an investment of time is needed to learn the software - I'm more than prepared to learn it as I think it will be very rewarding fine-tuning my television. But, it's the initial hurdles I can't overcome - when I click to measure greyscale and the other icons on that top bar, I keep getting error messages. And I'm not even sure that my Spyder is connected to it - I've seen a guide online where you can specifically select an X-Rite meter or an earlier Spyder but there's nothing to confirm that it has detected my Spyder4 and is using it. The guide was for the 3.0.4 version of the software, but I have downloaded 3.1.5 so maybe a lot has been changed or removed.
I'm hoping there's some one or few of you out there that have used this software before and are willing to help me learn the ropes. Or inform me of any alternatives, or other third-party software that would be able to do my job.
