The Spyker Double 12 is a hand built aluminum road car developed for both road use and endurance racing in the GT class. The Double 12 shares its chassis and suspension with the Spyker C8 Spyder. The name Double 12 refers to one of Spykers sporting successes in which a road going C4 broke the 24 hours endurance record at Brooklands. 79 years later Spyker intends to prove that production cars are capable of sporting success. Spyker intends to enter two C8 Double 12 R in the 2002 Lemans.

It was an Audi in the later versions and its in the street version of this car.

This car though I swear I read had a BMW V8.

Yes, you are right ... it was equipped with a BMW.
The had plans to use a Mercedes (Maybach) engine.
Thanks for the heads up.

BMW made a five valve V8? Since when? I know the later street models used an Audi engine. It was listed as a five valve V8, which confused me cause the newer road cars do indeed use a five valve Audi V8. Though I didn't notice the displacement is 4 liters. The Audi engine is 4.2.
