I dont usually qualify for races except the ones i know are gonna be really tight. So i settle for 6th on the grid and work my way thru. Well i say work. Its more of a bang, nudge, shove, and get the %$&$ outta my way kinda deal with me....lol. Anyway i found it weird that on a rolling start (me not in control of my car) i actually started in 6th yet after turning a corner i overtook the car infront of me and actually crossed the line starting in 5th, and wondered if anyone else has had this happen?. Is it just a quirk in the game, or is there something to this?.

Thanks

Yes, it can occasionally happen if the 5th place car is markedly slower than yours or it's a car/track the AI doesn't cope so well with. I have it happen a lot at Autumn Ring Reverse - the AI runs wide out of the final corner and kisses some kitty litter.

I actually think it was on the Autumn Ring when it happened. Lucky its not a real driving sim or id of had to of gone into the pits on a black flag.

Ive seen this happen on Opera Paris (Normal).
I was using the Mercedes CLK-GTR Race Car in the Legend of the Silver Arrow event at Mercedes-Benz's event area. I can't remember what car i was behind but he ran wide on both of the last two corners and it let me past quite easily.

When I ran the GTI Cup recently at Opera Paris I was already around the Lupo by the time I was in command.

I've had the opposite in one of the Opel Speedster races. My autopilot fell off the track (is that still called "doing a Coulthard"?) before the startline while trying to keep up with the cars in front, who to be honest also struggled around that corner. Can't remember what track it was.

I get mad at the autopilot when he bangs my car into the wall at the last turn of the 'Ring before handing it over to me. Forget the body and fender damage, he's putting me even further behind at the flag!

You should try a Dodge Ram, on -10 difficulty on Opera Paris in arcade mode. ;)

I started in second place once, but forgot which car I used. The other cars kept on drifting around, while mine was as smooth as silk on the turns.

This only happens when you pick a car for serious overkill. :mischievous:

...as long as George doesn't hit the barriers at the start in GT5, otherwise it will be harder to forget about the body and fender damage....

(assuming they actually model damage in GT5...)
