Hi there everyone!! :)

I've played GranTurismo and the F1 games for ages now, however only with the controller... But now I finally decided to buy a seat and wheel.!!! :D
I want something compatible with the PS3, PS4 and PC, to play GT6 on the PS3, GT7 on the PS4 next year (whenever it may be...) and Assetto Corsa and Project Cars on the PC (whenever I get to build a good PC...). As you can see this investment has the future in mind.

I was looking at the Thrustmaster T300RS or T500RS or the Logitech G29 with a Playseat Evolution. So you can see that in total, I'm willing to spend around €600 (£430). I've been leaning towards the T300RS, it's cheaper and seems to have gotten positive reviews, I would obviously like a third pedal and a shifter, but that is something for the future considering my budget (Fanatec upgrade when on PC?). And I like the Playseat due to the fact that you can fold it, which helps storing it away. Also I don't require a stand (?) for a monitor as I will be playing in front of a 40" TV, when on the PS of course.

This is the bundle I was looking at: http://www.playseatstore.co.uk/evolution-alcantara-ready-to-race-bundle.html
(You may change the currency on the top right.)

Do you guys have any suggestion for a Sim racing hardware noob? Should I wait for the G29? Should I buy the T300RS over the T500RS? Would I have to worry about the issue people are reporting? How does the Playseat compare to its competitors?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

Edit: Oh, I know that PCars is available on the PS4 and AC is coming but I want to get into PC gamming.

It's not a bad way to start to be honest, personally, I'd wait for the G29 and then when you want your next upgrade either pick up a set of fanatec elites or clubsport V1s/2s for pedals.

I got the G27 and playseat. I like the Wheel. The playseat is another story, it Works allright, but there is some major issues. It wobbles like crazy and there is a plate between your legs... so you have to do some customizing to make it optimal.

Wheels and pedals: it seems like most people with ' high end gear' is using t300 with another set of pedals

Thank you for the responses!!

It seems like the T300 is quite popular, but why shouldn't I wait for the G29? Are the improvements over the G27 too small? Is it going to be overpriced for what it has to offer?

And regarding the Playseat, what are the solutions for the plate between the legs? Does it really wobble that much, is it that unstable? And what alternatives for a similar price would you guys recommend?

I don't know about the G29. But some of the very fast sim racers on GT6 they use t300 with g27 pedals or fanatec clubsport pedals.

About the playseat: the plate for the pedals are made as if you use all three pedals. So you have to make an extra hole (since you only have to use gas and brake pedal). So you can mount the pedals a bit more to the left. This way speed pedal is on the right side and the brake pedal is on the left side of the centre post.

Wobble: yes it does wobble. I put books under the pedal plate, and I have a big table on top of the steering wheel to keep it stable.

In other words; You have to do some work to make the playseat good. and there is tons of other seats out there without center post and wobble

I think the G29 is gear driven like the G27 so it won't be as smooth as the belt driven wheels. I have had a T500 for a few years and very happy with it, but haven't tried the T300.

Again, thanks for the replies!!
Are there any other seats in a similar price range?
Playseat seems to do a lot of marketing compared to others, they just seem to get more exposure... I haven't really heard much about other companies.

I had the G27 and have upgraded to the T300. I will keep the T300. I also kept the peddles from my G27. I did not even bother to unpack the stock peddles that came with the T300.
As far as the new G29, just a remodeled G27 and you now have to pay more for the shifter. Close to $500.00 with tax and delivery. The T300 cost just $309.00 , no tax , and free delivery. You do the math.

If you need a rig, here is a list.

Wheel Stands, Racing Rigs Cockpits, Pedals, Wheels. Master List

The go-to starter wheel (best bang for the buck) was the Logitech G27. However, since that won't work with the PS4, I'd immediately go with the T300.

As mentioned above, the G29 took Logitech's strategy and threw it out the window (asking $400+$60 for the same gear as a G27). The T300 (which appears to be a better wheel - although mediocre pedals/no shifter) is less money and should work with everything you mentioned.

Start with the T300. Then just eventually add a stand/seat/rig...then upgrade your pedals, grab a manual shifter etc.

I started with a $220 G27 set...and have just built up from there.

I have an older version of the Playseat Evolution & have to say I found it very stable and didn't have any issues with wobble. I've had this seat since GT5 Prologue and would say it is fairly comfortable even on longer races. I did find that it creaks/squeaks a bit which can be annoying, but mostly you learn to ignore it. The centre bar is a bit awkward & for me it's worst design feature, you can offset the pedal mount placement to somewhat counter this but even so it is less than ideal. Like I said I've had this set up for a few years now & although it's not perfect, it ain't that bad either & in my opinion would be worth it.
Best option if you are anyway handy would be to build your own rig, which is what I plan to do when I have enough space for a more permanent set up.
