Starting all over...

I recently accidently saved over my copy of GT2 :grumpy: So now I am starting all over...I need your opinion...I want a good, easy car to start over with...any ideas?

I think the Nissan Pulsar GTi-R is a good car to start with.
It's a cheap 4WD car with more than 200hp (more than 400hp with upgrades) and 1200Kg.

I always started (even GT1) with the Supra Twinturbo, it's a good one but heavy, not the easiest one to drive through corners.
Another good one is the RX-7 Infini III, it has a bit less power than the Supra but it's lighter and it's easy to drive :)

Each one of the big japanese manufacturers has good cars to start the game, it just depends on the type of car you like to drive... FF, 4WD, FR, MR, powerful but heavy, or not so powerful but light?

Hmm... i don't have this one on my GT2 version...

Would it be this one?

There's also a 4WD version...

The Familia Interplay 4-Door Sedan is the one I'm talking about ... It kicks ass fully-tuned (I was very suprised), but isn't very good stock or with a few K in mods ...

Yup, in the NTSC version it's known as the 626 or Protegé and it's a pretty sucky car before you tune it. I remember this being my 3rd or 4th car in GT2 and losing the Sunday Cup even after buying stage 1 parts and, computer, semi-racing exhaust, etc.

Another really bad, but cute car is the Toyota Starlet ‘turbo’ S. It's not really a turbo, first of all, and 2nd it's cheap but even after using up all your 10,000 credits for better parts, the Starlet still can't break the Sunday cup. This was my first car in GT2 by the way. I finally took the Sunday with an Infini III.

I recently won the All Stars in Super Speedway with a Taurus SHO, which has about same power as the Mazda Familia (370hp) but more 400Kg... so i think the Familia and others on that list can win it too, and if you win the most valuable prize car in the game with your 1st car... what else do you need?
The Familia after tuned is a good car, you probably just gave up on it too soon.

I know that when you play for the first time everything is a bit harder, i remember some hard races with my Supra Twin Turbo against LM cars. I did almost everything with that car in GT1 and in GT2, it's a kind of tradition already... :D

EDIT: Oops... you don't win Speed 12 on Super Speedway... well but it's close... :P

Are they in any particular order or is it just a list of 10 cars that meet with that criteria?

Best to Worst ...

I drove all 50-something cars available on Day 1 for 10,000 Cr or less in the following forms ...

1) Completely Stock
2) Cost + Upgrades totalling 10,000 Cr or less (i.e. 6,000 car + 4,000 in upgrades)
3) Completely Modified (every upgrade available)

then marked the times to do 2 laps @ Red Rock Valley ...

With a little math, you can see that's 300+ laps, not even including the times I screwed up and had to start over ...

Pheww that's some exercise, but there are some cars that I wouldn't have put at the top of the lists.

They're based on lap times ... If they're one of the 10 fastest (w/ me driving) in comparison to everything else, why don't they belong on the list ?

Which cars ?

I meant I was surprised by the results. I would have thought the Skylines and FTO's would be better than the Silvia K's for example.

I just restarted a new game.
I have Golded all 60 licenses and at day 61 I used the GT1 prize car from S license to win the 5 races in the All Stars races. That nets you more than 1,250,000 credits by selling the prize cars.
I am now buying cars to use in the manufactures events and using these for all the other races.
My question is, can I do each race only once and have enough prize money to buy all cars and race mods required for 100% completion?
I am about 21% complete and have 1,500,000 credits.

Have you tried searching for the answers? I'm sure there is a guide somewhere that tells you how to beat the game by only racing each race once in the minimal time.

It is in Yen, but he might also be using a GameShark. And as reference PB, GT's in-game Yen doesn't follow real world's currency rates . IIRC 1 GT Dollar = 10 GT Yen (in US version you start with 10,000 cr, in JP version you start with 100,000 cr).

Still a MASSIVE amount of money though.

I also started GT2 again this week... I bought a 91 CR-X and raced it stock in the national cup race (up to 197 bhp) until I had enough money for Racing SS slicks and have won quite a few trophies since... will now have to upgrade though... I'll have a look at that RX-7 infini III.
