Lumma restyles 3-series E90 in M look

Well-known BMW customizer Lumma from Winterling fits the current 3-series E90 with a new, elegantly proportioned styling kit, transforming it into the CLR3 RS. At the same time, the specialist tunes the 2-litre diesel engine of this mid-range saloon.

The heart of the modifications is the power increase of the 2-litre diesel. Lumma uses the D-box (750 euros) to breathe 145 kW/198 bhp into this turbo-charged compression ignition vehicle and boost the torque to 395 Nm, thus making this saloon significantly punchier.

After attaching the Lumma body styling components, the 320d transformed into the CLR3 RS, looks a great deal more powerful - without giving the impression of being excessively "souped up". This is because Lumma has been careful to only emphasize and not to distort the lines of this 3-series saloon. For example, with its racing grille and five air intakes, the front bumper made from PU RIM for 810 euros blends harmoniously into the basic design, signalling the driver in front to move over and give way. By fitting the TÜV-exempt headlight lens covers of ABS plastic, Lumma lends the front of this BMW a more serious look, which should further improve its overtaking prestige. Costing 406 euros each, as its pièce de résistance, Lumma fits two extremely light wing assemblies from fibre-composite materials, into which louvres have been integrated. These "gills" are reminiscent of the M version of this 3-series BMW and only add to its sporty appearance.

The sporty theme is continued on the sides by fitting electrically adjustable and heated sports mirrors in the M look for 599 euros in addition to a TÜV-exempt set of side sills from PU RIM for 562 euros, which are attached to the original fastening points. As regards the rear end, a roof edge spoiler for 289 euros and a three-piece rear spoiler lip - one section for the boot lid, and a section on each side of the rear (for the price of 463 euros) help to reduce lift. Thanks to a TÜV-exempt licence plate holder, which is secured with glue, it is possible to style the rear view of this 3-series BMW further in the M look. To round things off, Lumma equips the standard-fitted rear apron with a rear apron attachment that simply oozes power (520 euros). Occupying its cutouts on the left and right are the two mirror-finished (and sporting the Lumma logo) 90 mm thick stainless steel pipes of a sports rear silencer - naturally with EC type approval - made from stainless steel. It is currently in preparation and the CLR3 RS will shortly announce its arrival loudly with this wherever it goes.

Lumma further enhances the driving dynamics of this 3-series BMW by fitting a KW coilover suspension for the price of 1199 euros. Added to this, the BMW tuner equips the CLR3 RS with the set of wheels consisting of "Lumma Race" wheel rims in the dimension 9.5x20" with Kumho size 245/30-20 tyres at the front and size 285/25-20 tyres at the rear. The price for the complete set of wheels: from 5500 euros.

It looks more better then a M5 or a 7 series. I wonder if BMW would improve the looks of the 7 series then bring out a M7.

:(

Yes, I still think the new 3 is ugly.

If I was more arrogant I would say that I know the new 3 is ugly. :(

I just hope they don't screw up the M3.

Look at what they did to the M5!

Last generation it was one of my favorite cars.
Now it's just a beast that looks as ugly as the "beast" title would imply. :(

Oh well, there's always the hope that Mercedes will be on their game with the style of cars for years to come. :D

BMW is great but the style they are using for the newer cars is just plain Ugly! :yuck:

Still not loving the styling.

It'll take more than bigger wheels and a bodykit to warm me to BMW's current designs.

You dont like the M5? What about the M6?

What about Audi's game?

Never thought it was ugly, but now it looks uglier.

How can something that wasnt ugly in your mind get uglier? Dont you mean its now ugly?

yes, i do like the looks of the 3 and i think what lumma did to it made it look even better. Only complaints are the mirrors and the eyelids.

They should have stuck to the stock mirror and take out the eyelids because it makes the car look sleepy and less aggresssive. :guilty:

I think the rims are sweet as hell, but I always like rims with the bolts sticking out of them.

Not really crazy about this one. The bodykit almost seems Lexus-ish, the eyelids hurt the "performance look" more than they help it, the rims need thicker spokes, or to be replaced with BBS-style ones, and the vent doesn't belong on a 3er without an M engine under the hood. I'd take the ordinary E90 over this in a heartbeat.

In any case, I'm still holding out for the 2-door...

Still looks ugly but perhaps slightly better at the back than the normal version (Front looks as ugly as normal). Hate the wheels though, far too bling bling for my liking :yuck:

I never thought the E90 was ugly, bland maybe, but not ugly - however, this E90 is ugly, especially the wheels. I hope the M3 looks better.

Well let's pick the car apart shall we?

Bottom 1/2 of the bumper looks like some defunct Mazda Rx8

Side skirts look like a horrible attempt at body work on a Camry(follow none of the lines on the car)

The eyelids on the headlights...seriously, were they necessary? they're like 1/4 of an inch thick....

I love how they don't have any jack-holes on the car anymore...Except the one in the back...Lol..what a stupid move..

and that signature...wow..I'm sorry, i know it's a tuner car..

but...Lmmmm/Rmmmm or whatever it is.. doesn't appeal to me..
