This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #22:

Intermediate Level Schwarzwald League: Apricot Hill - 500 PP - SH
Expert Level Historic Race Car Cup: Mid-Field - 600 PP - RH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Best Lap - Total Time - Car - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight - Rabbit - Rabbit Total Time

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then total time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on total time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best total time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

500PP Schwarzwald League at Apricot Hill:

– 1:06.056 – 6:56.867 – Jaguar XJ13 ’66 – RH – MR – 510hp – 998kg – 2J ’70 – 6:57.601

This one is very difficult. I only saw two rabbits in 15 or so lineups: the Toyota 7 ’70 was consistently getting 6:51.xxx in every lineup; the 2J ’70 was also getting 6:51.xxx. The lineup with which I was able to win was one with two Alfa Romeos and a Dodge Challenger as rabbits. The Alfa Romeos slowed down the 2J and at the overpass turn in the final lap the 2J was stuck behind the Dodge on the inside while I was able to pass both of them on the outside. I only won because of these turtles getting in the way of the rabbit. :sly:

@Hastatus That's a pretty good start. Two at 100PP and one grade of tyres down, and beating the 2J in the Jag.👍
Funnily enough the Abarth was the first car I tried. I didn't get the win though.

400PP Clubman Cup at Matterhorn Short Track:
342PP
- 30.786 - 4:33.754 - Isuzu 117 Coupe ’68 - CS - FR - 118bhp - 1050kg - Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione - 4:34.828

This was my first outing in this car. It now has 4.2 miles on the clock and looks like new. It's rather nice to drive too.

500PP Schwarzwald League at Apricot Hill:
458PP
- 1:35.566 - 8:30.777 - BMW Concept 1 Series tii ’07 - SH - FR - 304bhp - 1520kg - M3 GTR ’03 - 8:34.147

I had few close races with a BTR in a Merc 190 E 2.5 '91 at 410PP on comfy softs. One of those frustrating situations where you keep getting to the front only to be re-passed on the final straight. I'd had enough and did some shameless blocking to which he responded by PITing me. I won by two hundredths going backwards. Not claiming that one. It was a lot easier in the Beemer.

Midfield -
Just my XJ13 - painted in Matte Light Silver -
My grid had
Japanese - H.Mizumo - Toyota 7
ESP - M.Ramos - Chaparral 2D
GBR - N.Cline - Auto Union V16 - Nickname "Steep"
ITA - G.Olivieri - P4
GBR - M.Ayres - XJ13
FIN - O.Karhu - Challenger R/T
CAN - B.Lennox - GT40
FRA - T.Rey - Camaro
USA - E.Trevino - Cobra Coupe (I expected him to be in a Golf...)
FRA - P.Leclerc - TZ2
ITA - S.Nandi - TZ2

I had ... 4 goes at this, first one I was ... learning the track... .yeah that sounds good. And after a rubbish start, and Flip (On the curbs on the double apex right over the bridge. - I flipped on the outer curbs but stayed on the track - I didn't flip over the parapet onto the track below.) But the rest of that race I noticed the lead lap times were - erratic. This gave me hope.

Next couple of races were mighty close. The Toyota 7 was the quality car but Mizumo-san was a bit too eager in places (Turn 1) leaving the road then he got stuck behind the Auto Union and the "Surprisingly Flat" Chaparral -

In my race I had some luck. Firstly the Toyota managed to get behind the V16 and the 2D, I managed to reel them in and get into the lead... before both retook the lead into turn 1 for lap 5(Don't leave the door open into turn 1 as they will lean you off the track like a Force India driver.)
I managed to dispatch the Auto Union then I had to hunt down the Toyota who was gapping me... But the final lap I managed to take the lead into the Horseshoe Left hander that comes after the first tunnel.
And even more good fortune ahead was the battle back markers of Karhu's lime green Challenger R/T and the fighting Alfa Romeo TZ2 twins of Leclerc and Nandi. I was able to slalom through them like a (big V12) cat giving me the space to get the win.

Utterly enjoyable. Well worth paying those lads that drive for the team from Milan - A Big Serpent eating a man on the Alfa Romeo logo ?...

600PP Historic Race Car Cup at Mid-Field:

My Best lap had two nice drafts on the P4 and the 2D.

Apricot Hill is always fun, so I gave the intermediate a go:

500PP Schwarzwald League at Apricot Hill:

The Audi and Merc held up the BMW for a little while so I caught him before T1 on lap 5. Ran some consistent laps even with the traffic: 48.5 then 45.2/44.9/44.9/45.1.

Wanted to upload the replay as well but it must be too large :boggled:

500PP Schwarzwald League at Apricot Hill:

Thought I was going to have the lowest there for a while but @mcsqueegy beat me to it while I was off having fun in the Ferrari. Excellent job there. I bet that won't be beat... ...waits for MadMax to come along and beat it.

600PP Historic Race Car Cup at Mid-Field:
591PP
– 1:05.xxx – 6:57.935 – Ferrari 330 P4 '67 – RH – MR – 448hp – 792kg – Toyota 7 ’70 – 6:57.992

I got the same line up as @Ryk (good to see you back in the saddle) with the two Alfas and the Challenger doing sterling work holding up the Toyota at the end. So much fun I did it four times and won three of them. The one I lost was actually my fastest overall time but I accidentally booted Mizumo up the backside and he took off like a startled hare past the back-markers.

I Don't quite get the "Tag" thing but cheers StirlingMoose. But the XJ13 stock at Mid-Field was great, most of the corners demanded you balance things, (The final Up and Under chicane is unfortunately not quite as demanding)

I had another go today - And it seemed every half mistake was punished - Had an amazing first lap lock up down the hill into the Lakeside Hairpin.... I was off line, locked up bounced over the apex... and clean over to the other side of the track.
Every lap those lines of shame taunted me! - But even 4th place gets a nice amount of cash... maybe enough to treat myself to some other historic car!
I've enough to get the 2J or the 2D - Worth getting or save my cash for a good looking P4 or a ugly Ford Mk4 or maybe an Older GT40.

Apricot Hill
- I used a M Coupe - which was pretty good, sound was a bit muted. 449pp And I thought I was being pretty cocky gifting the AI 50pp... But Hastatus lampshades what a part timer I am! As does Stirls too.

Baby Matterhorn
I used a Renault 5 Turbo - Fun but not as much fun as I expected, back end was loose, but not quite as I wanted.

The good looking P4 any day. I've got them all and the others don't get a look in. It's similar to the Jag but lighter and wilder. Save your pennies, you won't be disappointed.

Bought the P4
Have to say it doesn't sound very great - but it is at least as pretty as the Jag
Had a load of goes with it today - and with great Fanfare managed to get a win with a grid that was pretty weak. Just the Toyota 7. But the Toyota would just beat me every race, One mistake from me, and I'd be half a second down at the end. Even a great exit from the Lake Hairpin into the tunnel and the Toyota would just pull away even if I was in the slip stream.

I did Manage to beat it, but the time was over 7 minutes and I'd had several which were sub 7 minute races but I was in second place. Strange when you win it is oddly slower.

Great fun though the layout is just about right, but the AI make it tough. But I tend to get the best when the Alfa Twins are getting blue flags. The leader gets Wrong Footed, The second place Ferrari sweeps into the lead, the Tifosi go wild! The Englishman carried down the pitlane on the shoulders of the crowd which breaks ranks and swarms the track

600PP Historic Race Car Cup at Mid-Field:
588PP
– 1:06.760 – 7:02.888 – Ford Mark IV Race Car '67 – RH – MR – 503hp – 1000kg – Auto Union V16 Type C Streamliner – 7:09.893

The ugly duckling of the trio is very easy to drive compared to the other two, probably because it's a bit slow. I had to find a grid with no Toyota or 2J but it was easy against the ocean liner.

Edit -

Looking for another one to try out and didn't really fancy the American muscle so I had a go in the Alfa TZ. It's such a lovely little car but chances to use it are rare and chances for it to be competitive even rarer. Needless to say it's not competitive here but I saw off the other two in the first lap and then spent the next five chasing down the Camaro. The others were miles away. I decided that a three-Alfa tussle would be my goal. It was too easy on SS and I couldn't catch them on SH but on SM I could just match their pace. It makes a nice change to have a proper close race against the AI, having to drive defensively (These chaps like to take a dive down the inside, and on softer tyres they can pull it off) and plan passes. And for added entertainment on the last lap we had the leaders joining in.

Have been running a Tuned version of the P4. Easy wins! Then ran it with no power or weight mods... again easy wins. (6m40's race times 1m03/1m04 best laps) (Just for reference purposes!)

Then dropped back to bone stock. And won out of the box. -
The main difference is the lack of down-force - so bone stock the drive was much more dancing on the edge. The back end was stepping out in all the wrong places (Turn 1 - Turn 4 - Turn 8) and the fronts were locking up in a few others (Turn 6 Turn 11) but an action packed 7 minutes that you can attack every time.

591PP – 1m06.4x – 6m58.9xx – Ferrari 330 P4 '67 – RH – MR – 448hp – 792kg – Toyota 7 ’70 – 6:59.???

6m58.9 race
1m06.4 best lap

Toyota 7 was the leader but the grid was just perfect. Or else I am getting used to passing them now and avoiding getting the AI turning into a Crashtor Maldonado. Going to miss this event when it goes!

Going to miss this event when it goes!

Yeah, me too. It's shame the 2J and Toyota were nearly always there. I would have been nice to have a P4 rabbit or the Jag occasionally to have a chance of winning in the slower cars, but I didn't let that stop me. I must have run it at least 10 times in the GT40 (great in the corners but too slow on the straights) and half a dozen times in the Corvette (a rocket in a straight line but you have to tippy-toe round the corners) and never got better than 3rd. Great races in the little Alfa on SM too. Not much in the way of credits but plenty of enjoyment.
But... You despoiled your P4 with a wing? How could you?

2J power limited to 50% / 573PP , not the easyest win vs Toyota 7 and another 2J. Finishing time 6:50 , best lap 1:04.2

I must have spent 30 minutes reloading the event without getting a grid without Toyota 7 and/or 2J , so i gave it a rest and did a few laps of GTAcaddmy round 1. Did 2:08 flat after too many restarts and headed back to seasonal events. I took a look at eligible 100% stock car list and figured I'd try the GT40. I was 2.2 million short from buying it and went back to the event in 600PP 2J. After 5 races I had enought credits to buy that GT40.

562PP - Ford GT40 Race car '69 7:09 vs Toyota 7 12.2 sec ahead

2nd try: spun by 2D while in 3rd place 1st corner , lap6. The P4 had gotten in the top 2 and dropped the 2D.
3rd try: a battle for 1st between me , 2D and the Audi

A small write up of the race:

Lap1: Passed 1st Alfa on the straith 2nd from outside in turn2.
The Cobra Daytona at the exit of left hander after 1st tunnel , Camaro at the downhill and Challenger coming out of 2nd tunnel.
Lap2: Overtook the Corvette Z06 from inside before 1st tunnel and another GT40 from inside entering the lefthander.
Lap3: Passed Mark IV at exit of 2nd tunnel.
Lap4: Caught P4 coming out of 2nd tunnel and passed it after some drafting.

Lap5: Entered 1st corner side by side with the P4 and stayed on inside line for 2nd corner , before which the P4 had already given up on battling.

Next up was the 2D which I catched coming out of 2nd tunnel. I went for outside pass and the 2D tried to push me out of track.
Got 2 wheels on grass , but held it together and was past the 2D.

Lap6: Took a wide line for turn 1 , 2D in my draft and at the 2nd corner right on my rear bumper. Approaching the lefthander just before 1st tunnel the 2D pulled off a huge divebomg going wide yet not off coming to 1st tunnel.
I took inside line and took a line for inside for oncoming lefthander when the 2D cut across in the tunnel.

Entering the lefthander I kept inside while the 2D was on a wider line. By now we had reeled in the Audi and I was almost boxed in.
The Audi was hugging the apex and 2D was 3 car widhts from inside rumble.
I went for the gap between the 2 cars and got past the 2D coming out of the corner.I was in the draft of that Audi and coming to the esses before the lefthander leading to 2nd tunnel I took inside line , expecting the Audi to brake for 2nd part of the esses.
This was a mistake and left the door open for the 2D to catch the Audi's draft and get beside me on 2nd part of the esses.

Now I was not on the optimal line coming to braking zone for the next lefthander and the Audi (on the inside) and 2D (on outside) were about to enter the corner 2-wide. I slid far to the inside barely slowing it down enought to not go off track & hit the Audi at the apex.

The 2D and Audi made contact at the apex causing the 2D gain speed and go wide while the Audi was got slown down.
I got thru the corner clean carrying good amount of speed. And I caught the Audi coming out of the 2nd tunnel , I overtook it from outside which put me on inside line for the last corner.
To my supprise the 2D was now half way thru the last corner coming to the last straith.

I was carrying more speed than it and caught a little draft at very start of that straith. I had managed to dip my left side tyres to grass on last corner exit and was in a small slide when I overtook the 2D from right hand side on the straith at start of pit lane barely missing the 2D's rear.
I kept that iright side line and the Audi catched my draft. The 2D and Audi were side by side crossing the finish line.

I may may have left unmentioned a few mistaked I did on my own  , but aside that this was one of the best races I've had with the AI in a long time.

@MadMax Great stuff. This is far more fun than GTA round 1. GT-R on SS, no thanks.
Short of credits? That's the problem with winning everything first go. Me, I'm never short of credits.
