This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #23:

Beginner Level Non-Racecar Challenge: Grand Valley East Reverse - 400 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Racecar Challenge: Matterhorn Dristelen - 500 PP - RH
Expert Level Non-Racecar Challenge: Cote d'Azur - 550 PP - SH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Best Lap - Total Time - Car - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight - Rabbit - Rabbit Total Time

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then total time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on total time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best total time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

400PP at Grand Valley East Reverse:

500PP RC at Matterhorn Dristelen:

– 1:11.087 – 6:27.749 – Honda CR-Z Touring Car – RH – FF – 199hp – 910kg – Megane Trohpy ’11 – 6:28.115

550PP at Cote d’Azur:

:banghead: I have serious doubts about success here. I was still only half way through the pack with a Ferrari 430 Scuderia ’07 at 549PP. The competition accelerates abnormally fast in the straights and there is no room in most turns to pass. Then if you do earn a position, they rear end you constantly like you are not there. I resorted to trying my tuned GTR V-spec ’09 and still had to put in much effort to reach first.

Is it just my imagination or does the AI on Cote d'Azur accelerate as though there were no elevation differences on the track? They pass very quickly when going uphill but seem to be going slow downhill. :odd:

Maybe it's the(ir) way to get through without crashing. Though I saw a CTR2 hug the wall. I don't have a way so will likely not try it again.

edit: saw that in older threads the figures were what I have

Thanks to the rubber-band man I won this first go with a very slow time so decided to do it again... and got beat. Had to go again to get a decent win.

338PP – 1:29.640 – 4:51.828 – Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale '63 – CS – FR – 112hp – 950kg – Prelude Type S '98 – 4:51.874

An old favourite which usually comes up trumps. Not too hard so I expect there will be lower PP winners.

Went for a sure-fire winner for starters. Great fun. When I think what a chore the Viper was on this track few weeks back.

486PP – 1:09.444 – 6:23.987 – Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2 '65 – RH – FR – 168bhp – 620kg – AMG Mercedes 190E 2.5 – 6:25.258

Well what can I say? Thank you PD. A second chance in two weeks to use this car. And this time to win! I've been making the most of it and I might just carry on.

550PP at Cote d’Azur:
Can't see this happening. Likewise half way up the pack in the Scud and the same in the LFA. 20+ seconds down. Someone could probably find the 4 seconds a lap but, through the traffic? I doubt it.

When will I learn to keep my gob shut? Still at least I proved myself wrong this time. 4WD is the key here. Being able to get the power down coming out of the tight bends. I'll own up to being a bit pushy with AI but certainly no worse than they were handing out. I only bought this car last week for the 4WD TT and I'm glad I did now. 'twas expensive, mind.

Not too sure about Mont Carlo. I had a try in a X-bow, and just wasn't gaining anything, and then bought a Nissan R390 - I just couldn't get the feel for "riding around the kitchen on a bicycle" No too sure where I could pass as the straights had my car going backwards so the only options were sneaky block passes which gets you a place but kills lap times and the fun.

(That was yesterday but not posted)

Had several goes in a trio of sporty racey cars in Sun lashed Switzerland.
1996 Elise Touring car
1999 Motorsport Elise
..... MX5 Touring car (It has pop up headlights... Mk.I version)

Each was good. The Premium Elise was very good but you will hammer the rev limiter into the Epic turn one. I found it was best to feather the throttle into here so you don't hit the top speed wall and end up with no power at a critical time. The following uphill bit will punish every mph you fail to carry through here.

The Motorsport Elise was much more fun - with an extra helping of oversteer made the first corner a place of extreme danger. I managed a fishtail through the entire corner through traffic. The car was a bit long on the gears, 5th was just too long for the first part of the lap... but 4th is too short - maybe it was just the power was just a bit too low.

The MX5 (Roadster) - good fun but after the two Cars from the land of the rising Turnip Hiroshima's finest Lotus Elan copy had some understeer. The first corner you need to really attack the apex... if you don't get inside you will drift out to the righthand side and you may need a change of race overalls. (Nice view on the other side of that 2 foot high retaining wall...

Not sure how I got the same rabbit - I think they started in 2nd place But they were never really a hard rabbit to catch. I was often getting to the lead by the end of lap 3. But even if you muck up a lap you could reel them in without much bother.

Elise TC best lap
17.0/25.9/25.1 - But best sectors would get a 1m07.

The Elise TC was tip top other than the short 5th gear.
The Motorsport Elise was much more eager to rotate and the brakes felt a bit feeble. But I plan to get sub 70 seconds in this as the edge of the seat drive is great (You get slides but you can balance the car quit easily)
The Roadster TC - Not bad but understeer is awkward into the full banana turn 1.

Loads of fun here. Almost tempted to go "Non stock" and drop them down into sports tyres.

For non-stock here I'm going to up the tyres on the Ferrari 250 GTO. It's a right handful on CS but fast. Maybe it could be done stock. I also did it in the Prius Touring car but didn't note the times. Not driven it before. It's quite good but I had no idea what was going on. It sounded like a washing machine on a rinse/spin cycle.

----(Re cap with numbers filled in)

Ran the Honda S2000LM mostly as I saw one in the previous races - liked the look of it so wanted to give it a go.

Honda S2000 LM
484PP - 1m06.726 - 6m05.089 - Honda S2000LM - RH - FR - 315bhp - 1050kg - 190E Benz - 6m07.324

Like the MX5 - the S2000 didn't have that pointy front end, hunting the apex that I need for a good turn 1. I felt I had to dither about to get the car to stay on the grey bit. The brakes felt odd too. uphill the car seemed to take an age to slow down... Probably due to the weight and momentum.
Yet on the down hill stop near the end of the lap the car behaves like it has magnets and when it gets out of shape (And it did for me!) the car is very easy to control the slides and skipping about.
But the Elephant in the room is that the car is far too fast for the event.

I then bought a Trial Celica SS-II - only to find out it isn't racey enough. So I bought a Mugen Motul Civic Si from 1987

Mugen MOTUL CIVIC
433PP - 1m11.719 - 6m32.823 - Mugen MOTUL CIVIC '87 - RH - FF - 221bhp - 890kg - Megane Trophy - 6m33.321

Front wheel drive but for 45,000 an easy car to get 300,000 with. But it was front wheel drive and not much fun to drive. Well better to say it isn't as much fun as an Elise or a MX5 or a S2000....

Also had a most excellent celebrity AI driver.
In the Toyota WEDSSPORT Celica I had Z "Theodore" Logan.
Looking out for Bill S Preston, Esquire now.

500PP RC at Matterhorn Dristelen:

– 1:11.xxx – 6:39.497 – PRIUS Touring Car – RH – FF – 201bhp – 1035kg – Lancer Evolution IX GSR Touring Car – 6:39.764

Another go in the Prius to get some times and I still forgot to note my BL. I did it in the CR-Z too. I was thinking that @Hastatus had picked the winner there straight off but then @Ryk chipped in with one that eluded my car search. I'd put a minimum price of 50k to narrow the search thinking that you wouldn't get a decent racing car for less. How wrong I was. Bargain!

I had one more that I thought was in with a chance -

500PP RC at Matterhorn Dristelen:
417PP
– 1:15.482 – 6:47.907 – Mitsubishi Pajero Rally Raid Car '85 – RH – 4WD – 225bhp – 1202kg – SX4 WRC '08 – 6:48.723

It took a few tries and a lucky line-up. It's rather lacking in power. That hill seems endless when when you've got your foot to the floor and are gradually losing speed. Turn one is crucial. Slightly mess it up or meet another car at the apex you can lose 5mph all the way up the hill and you might as well quit there. On the up side it corners and stops superbly and is great to drive as long as you are going downhill. And the view from up there is fantastic. The wall of death is even more terrifying when you can see over the top of it.

Off topic - I've been messing about with the 250 GTO on different tyres. You know I said it was a handful on CS? Well it is on RH too. It's squirrelly, understeers and lights up the rears at the slightest excuse. But the acceleration, once it finds some grip, is phenomenal. Very messy but easy win on RH. SM seems about best for a close race.

GVE is good fun either direction so I jumped on a couple :)

Bit sloppy on the driving side but managed to win this without any problems.

Tried a different lineup with the SLK as a rabbit, no luck but I managed this one first time.

321PP - 1'30.975 - 4'56.769 - Mercedes A 160 Avantgarde '98 - CM - FF - 100bhp - 1115kg - FTO GPX '94 - 4'56.887
Took a few goes and a bit of luck with the AI on the final lap! My sneaky blocking on the last stretch almost denied the FTO its title as the 'rabbit'

Had a go in the 250GTO in the land of Cuckoo clocks and Toblerone fermentation tanks.
(The 500pp race car event at Matterhorn)

474pp - 295bhp - 880kg - FR - Ferrari 250GTO - 1962
All nice - but it comes with the very finest Bias-ply tyres. Comfort first - Grip later - much later!

So I had two runs with stock(CS) tyres.

1m17.999 - 7m01.645
1m17.042 - 6m58.830 AI (Cusco Impreza 6m40.8)

At this point I knew no amount of skill in my car would match even the weirdest bit of bad driving by the AI.

SO how about a swap up to Sport Hards. (Boo hiss from the Hardcore Stock fans)
BUT - lets not forget the AI are all on big fat Racing slicks. And Sport Hards are not *that* far from Comfort Softs but they are a long way from Racing slicks.

(Sporty Hards)
1m14.085 - 6m46.1?? - (-5.3) 6m40.8 Subaru BRZ (I.Zaytzev -CCCP)
1m13.848 - 6m43.629 - (-2.7) 6m40.8 Subaru BRZ
1m14.014 - 6m43.506 - (-3.2) 6m40.2 Subaru BRZ
1m14.179 - 6m43.463 - (-3.1) 6m40.3 Cusco Impreza (G.Neri - ITALIA)
1m13.911 - 6m44.643 - (-3.8) 6m40.8 Cusco Impreza
this race was a killer. I was dong wll and felt I may have a shot at a closer result.
Laptime in seconds (Gap)
76.987 (-24.2)...
74.497 (-16.9)...
75.205 (-12.3)...
73.911 (-6.1) ...
77.560(-3.8)

Yes Dropped th ball on the last lap, (Turn 2 the blind cresting almost flat left - I had a slide, caught it... but ended up running wide into the wall... and lost two handfuls of momentum. Did it cost me the race?

I had to run again
1m14.020 - 6m40.585 - (-1.7) BRZ Subaru 6m38.8
77.036/74.020/74.801/74.067/74.178
The race time was enough to have won 4 of the last 6 races - but in this race, it wasn't.
Loads of fun on SH tyres - car is dangerous in turns 1 and 2 - the uphill hairpin is tough on the brakes... then when you try to get the power down over the crest... the inside wheel will spool up - and just for good measure the inside right will spool up on the downhill right that follows. The left kink at the start of the final sector isn't flat. The brake zone for the 90° right is "hairy" and the left-left-LEFT turn that follows is tough as my tyres were cooked from the previous right hander and the exit is hard to get the power down as the tyres spool up and the car will drift to the outside if you get too eager.... Overall an excellent waste of 7 minutes! Many places where you can screw up a lap - but also many places you can "get it right" and know you as a driver made the difference.

I only got 3rd place... but that is 150,000 credits - not sure how many 3rd places I need to rank up before I break even on buying the car. (I think I managed 5th place on Comfort tyres and that earned 105,000 credits and was just as much fun to drive.)

All times with No Traction Control, no ABS and no SRF and impacts or corner cutting.

@Ryk, Fun isn't it? It took SM for the win for me, and that's with abs.
I've trying out the Alfa Giulia TZ2 on SH too. It still grips like a leech, most of the time. I did get it to step out a couple of times which is impossible on racing tyres. I think CS is the most appropriate tyre for this car but I doubt it would win thus shod.
I'm getting a lot out of this race and I'm not finished yet. I've yet to do it in either of the Lotuses and, having seen the AI driving one, I want to have a go in the Stratos Rally car.

Also had a go at GVE with a couple of borderline contenders, without success. Opel Corsa Comfort at 313PP (like a teenager driving me mum's car) and one of those little sporty Dihatsu things at the same PP. The Corsa has the best chance I think but I was 5s down and not even on the podium.

Not got the TZ2 - (Paint it white (Some Fiat 500 shade) so you only have 130 in blue on the side!)
The 250GT still has more miles left as I've yet to dial in the corners, and they are all tough. In the Elise/Mazda/S2000 a few corners were automatic pilot / full throttle jobs. The older cars not only have serious grip issues but the ramp angles in the differential are very old ---

Had a dash previously in Suzuki... Frothy Milky Coffee (no power) and the GT86 but that was also anaemic for power - I had to row it up the hill changing gears.

I gave up on the GT86 when I got to the top of the hill and realised I'd already lost about 3s on the leader.
Now I'm a bit of a traditionalist, all my Ferraris and Alfas are red, but I like the idea of painting it white. I was watching the replay of one of my three-Alfa tussles at Mid-Field and half the time I didn't know which one was me. Does a paint-job work retrospectively?

Some awfully sloppy driving and overtaking around here, despite that I thrashed the opposition due to the 2 SLR's starting from the front.

– 1:12.116 – 6:31.864 – Lancia Stratos Rally Car '77 – RH – MR – 272bhp – 880kg – Lancer Evolution GSR Touring Car – 6:33.061

After the usual first shot mayhem I remembered how to drive the beast and it was a pretty easy win. It's plenty fast enough without any heroics, which is just as well as straying off line or making any sudden moves usually ends badly.

464PP – 1:09.240 – 6:21.105. – Lexus IS 200 GT-1 '04 – RH – FR – 277bhp – 1010kg – Superautobacs Apex MR-S '00 – 6:24.162

Fast and very easy to drive. First attempt and I was still trying to find its limits. It doesn't seem to have any.
I had a go in the two loti and the Mazda (with the top down and the wind in my... er, helmet) and surprisingly found the oriental the easiest way to victory. Even after the Stratos I was struggling getting to grips with MR handling on this road.

Doesn't happen often but I'm going to have a rant now. Why does the eligible cars list exclude cars because they have the wrong tyres fitted even if you've already bought, or they come as stock fitted with, the right tyres? That's just sloppy. And another thing.. I've just reached 500 cars in my garage and it tells me I have to move some to the stockyard. But I want to use pretty much all of them. I moved the Red Bulls and most of the VGTs (not the Mini and the Alpine 'cos they're great) but I don't know what else can go. I could probably do without the Veyron and Nissan Cube. It's already difficult enough to find eligible cars without having another place to go look. I'm sure it will all be better in GT7.

474pp - 295bhp - 880kg - FR - Ferrari 250GTO - 1962

Fitted with SH tyres I had to try again but, did it on my first go and then proved it was no fluke by doing it again (Obviously a weak AI grid!)

1m13.813 - 6m40.982 - 6m41.617 (190E Benz DTM)
77.5/73.8/74.7/74.3/74.0

I thought I was just having a fun run not pushing too hard but the AI was getting reeled in and with 2 laps to go I could see the leader who was just 6 seconds up the road... I thought the Merc had woken up as we both rushed up the hill after turn 1. I was in his slipstream but he was holding the gap. I managed to sneak through into the hilltop hairpin but it is such a hard place to overtake as you get so much wheelspin out of it you may as well gift wrap the lead and hand it over. To make matters even more hairy the next three cars had followed me to the back bumper of the Merc. Amazingly fun - I doubt I can drop to Stock Comfort tyres and fluke a win - The AI go slow, but not that slow!

Ouch 500 cars. Just reminded me that I ran Tsae Yellav Dnarg.

Had a search through the sub 400pp cars... and saw a cluster at 388pp that I never driven... and were quite a good spread.

From France The turbocharged Renault R5 Turbo. Mid engine with the stale tang of countless Gitanes fag ends in the passenger footwell.

From The land of the Rising sun the Celica 2000GT-Four - Turbocharged four wheel drive, Pop up headlamps - how can it not be a winner?

Also from Japan the (What you talking about) WiLL VS? When you find out it was partly designed by a beer company... you can see how sober the draughtsmen were when they finished the project.

From the land of Lager and Sausages- The BMW 120d... A diesil... a filthy oil burner... well at least it isn't a hybrid eh...

And finally from the land of Mustard Turnips and Saint Delia of Smith the all new (but looks a lot like the old one )Lotus Elise 2011. Mid engine, with all the added lightness money can buy.

388PP - 1'22.8?? - 4'33.1?? - Renault R5 Turbo '80 – CS – MR – 159hp – 970kg – Mitsubishi GTO SR - 4'33.8

388PP - 1'26.2 - 4'42.7 - Toyota WiLL VS '01 – CS – FF – 187hp – 1190kg – Prelude Type S '98 - 4'42.9

388PP - 1'24.5 - 4'37.449 - Toyota Celica 2000GT-Four '86 – CS – 4WD – 182hp – 1350kg – Accord Euro-R - 4'38.0

388PP - 1'24.313 - 4'37.008 - Bayerische Motoren Werke 120d '04 – CS – FR – 166hp – 1415kg – Mitsubishi Eclipse Spider GTS - 4'37.73

388PP - 1'21.340 - 4'27.873 - Lotus Elise '11 – CS – MR – 134hp – 876kg – Mercedes SLK 230 Kompressor '98 - 4'28.6

The Renault was good fun (only one wing mirror? Guess the smoker in the passenger seat removed it or sold it for more stinky French smokes. Fast, the issue with me was the gap between 2nd and 3rd gear. (Little did I know how bad the next car would be!)

The WillVS was a horror show, all that power, the more you push the more it pushes. Gears that feel like they are going through a divorce - such a wide gap between them.

The Celica - Felt nice for a four wheel drive. And a good sparring partner with the Oil burning Beemer - Both were good fun. The Beemer has a fat torque rich engine and the car is nicely balanced - I wanted to hate the car. I even picked "Havana" as a nasty shade of brown... but it isn't too bad. Looks bad though.

But the winner was the Little Lotus - It feels fast anyhow as you are lower. So it feels faster Turns through corners like it actually wants to (Will VS!)

BUT the Will VS will win this event and only costs 20,500cr for a win of 186,000. SO in a funny way - the Toyota Will VS is the best car... for 388pp If you are a tightwad skinflint! Get any of the other 4 cars and have some fun.

(That's Grand Valley East in Reverse - obviously)

You couldn't let it lie, could you? Nor could I. Got the win on SH earlier and now gone on to try CS again. I got close enough to think it's possible, 3rd and 4.5s away against a 205 group B rally car. Only need to find another second per lap and I'm there, in theory. That sharp right-hander at the bottom of the steep hill is a nightmare. The braking zone is huge and hit it slightly late and you're sailing off into the sunset. In three races I think I only properly hit the apex three times. There's some time to be made up there.

Oh, and I'm not allowed to paint my Alfa apparently. Fair enough really.

400PP at Grand Valley East Reverse:

1'30.030 - 4'55.892 - Opel Corsa Comfort 1.4 '01 – CM – FF – 87hp – 998kg – Prelude SiR '96 - 4'55.982

Wasn't too hard to catch the leaders but the Prelude and GTO got in my way on the last lap... lost 2 attempts on the final straight from bad blocking :scared:

Lost count of the times I had "just one more go" at this. I think Senor Estrada in his RX7 was the easiest rabbit to catch but I had a few close seconds against the Pug 205 and the S2000. The steep tight uphill section is where I was losing the race every time. There is virtually no grip and you can't really get any power down until you're over the brow. Just have to carry as much momentum as possible without overdoing it then very gently with the throttle until you're over the top. Got to P2 at the end of lap 4 and had a whole lap to chase down the leader. Actually not a whole lap because if you're not in front by the hill of hell you might as well forget it. The first time I did it by barging him out of the way but I wasn't happy with that (nor was Estrada, I imagine) and went again. This time I got a clean pass just before the bend and snuck in front. He stayed behind as I chugged up the hill then Ferrari power kept me out of trouble until the braking zone at the bottom of the hill where he caught up. He took a dive down the inside over the curb in the last bend (I should have been defending that but went a bit wide in the excitement) but I got the power on cleanly and kept my nose in front. I gave him just enough room but he chickened out at the narrowing gap between me and the wall and crossed the line with a fine view of the Ferrari's four gleaming tail-pipes. :D

That is a great result - bone stock, Comfort tyres, no tuning, no exchanges of scarlet and yellow/blue paint.
It is nice that a "fail" means a nice chunk of cash and hopefully a good ten miles of hard driving. But to get the pony to prance like that. Molto Bene - have an extra Ferrero Rocher!

I meanwhile had more fun in my Motorsport Elise (475pp/301bhp/700kg/RH/MR)

475PP - 1m11.286 - 6m32.575 - Motorsport Elise - RH - MR - 301bhp - 700kg - Megane TC - 6m32.575 - B.Mazur)

(*I think B.Mazur was the Megane)

Loads of fun in this car - Turn one is critical and the car is a real test to get through clean and with lots of full fat speed. That hill is pure misery if you stuff this corner up. But if you get it (sort of) right, it is happy days.

Odd car loads of grip but just the wrong amount of power - the hill just saps it out of you I had to drop to 4th gear most laps as the steam began to cool. It does however stick to the road like a week old road kill and is rock solid in the brake zones. Maybe a combonation of aero (150/400 default) sticky slick tyres and more weight at the front than the Elise. (The Elise loves to shakes its booty if I brake a smidge too late.) -

To be honest I am amazed how close the Beemer and Elise are in terms of race pace - The BMW feels so ponderous up the hill, but I guess the Elise feels faster mostly as you have probably just saved a fishtail or two as you start heading up the hill.

@Ryk I tried out the BMW. Man, that thing is planted. After the Ferrari it took me a few laps to get used to the fact that you can just go flat-out most of the time. Easy first time win although quite a bit slower than your times. I must say it did seem maybe a trifle dull but then I wasn't really pushing it.

Also took the Miura for a spin at Monaco. At 512PP I wasn't expecting to be in with a chance but it felt right at home in the home of millionaires. (So Messieurs, you think you are cool driving round the the streets of Monte Carlo in your modern supercars. Well my Lambo cost more than your yachts and I know how to drive it.) Ran rings around them in the corners but it just hasn't got the pace on the straights. Fourth place and ten seconds down was my best effort so... just maybe. I'd be interested to see what some of our fast chaps could do with it. This is definitely one of those races where you can have a lot of fun if you're not desperately going for the win though.

I had a dash in a VW Golf (Part 4 - Augustus Gloop fat car) GTi TC.
What a horror show of understeer. And Guess what happened into the tight 90° right near the end of the lap... Ryk dropped two nice thick lines of black rubber for over 100 yards all the way into the concrete wall... This modern day Touring car is fitted with Comfort Softs as standard.
But it has a Roll cage - no back seats - the rear doors are bolted shut... why has it got road tyres?

Even with SH tyres it is a brick and the front tyres lock up if you so much as think about putting the brakes on. I was half tempted to use the hand brake as it can't be as "on/off" as the footbrake. Can it?

It is nice to swap about a bit the Ferrari was fun do to its nice balance and knife edge grip. I love the Elise as it is like that psycho ex girlfriend you take for a meal... and you hope she doesn't throw coffee over you or burst into tears or get so drunk (it was her second Bacardi Breezer) you have to hold her hair away from her face when she is sick into the gutter... whatever an interesting night out is guaranteed with a Psycho Ex or an Elise
- Just never let your Psycho Ex drive the Elise.

I'm impressed you got the Golf that far before crashing. I got as far as turn 1. I hadn't noticed the tyres so it was a bit of a surprise. I gave up on it at that point. Top marks for perseverance. Useful if there's ever a seasonal for modern race cars on comfort tyres.
Speaking of psycho girlfriends, have you met the lovely Miss Lancia Stratos? She's a lot of fun and if you treat her right she'll reward you in all sorts of ways. But she carries a revolver in her handbag so you've got to watch your back.
I had another bash with the Muira at Monte Carlo and got up to third by seven seconds but I don't think I'm going to do it. Also tried the Ferrari GTO '84 (520PP). Felt faster than the Lambo but didn't translate to better lap times. The AI here are a menace. If you so much as tap them they go off on one but if you're in their way, you've had it. In the end I amused myself by deliberately booting one of them up the backside then trying to keep up as he went charging through the pack knocking everyone out of his way. The guy in the yellow RUF was particularly entertaining to wind up. It's nice to see that they are as ruthless with each other as they are with me. I'd hate to think it was something personal.

I was searching for a grid for the Corsa when @mcsqueegy posted that he had won with it. 👍
Racing against different grids in stock Ferrari GTO 250 after reading about people almost winning with it.
Then I saw that @StirlingMoose managed to win. 👍

- 4:57.986 - Opel Corsa Comfort 1.4 '01 - CM - FF - 87bhp - 998kg vs Honda Prelude Type S '98 +0.117 sec behind , bl 1:30.164
This was a hard fought win , I had good first 2 laps (fastest lap was lap2) And the 3rd started without draft. The Prelude , GTO and FTO were bundled together. I passed the FTO approaching T1 and GTO on the next righthander by diving on inside. I got close to the Prelude here , but it ran away from me before I could get in it's draft.
In the final corner exit I got outside next to the Prelude And the Prelude got spooked and it lifted off gas. I made a move infront of it towards pit entry/pit wall to keep it behind me and I almost got "pitted" by that Prelude when I held that line. I came close to Furistrong'ing it @nascarfan1400 , but barely missed the <-Pitt sign and the red'n blue blocks behind it.

Audi A2 might be able to win this vs the right grid.

The top 3 cars: AMG Mercedes 190 E 2.5 ... , Lancer Evo IX TC and NSX LM RC were bunched up together. When I passed the leading Merc in turn 1/lap5 the other 2 caught me and I got sandwiched coming to the lefthander after T1 , at this point the Evo IX TC got past me. I managed to outbrake the Evo in the downhill and by doing so I secured the 1st place.

474PP - 6:43.187 - Ferrari 250 GTO CN.3729GT '62 - CS - FR - 295bhp - 880kg vs SILVIA spec-R AERO (S15) Touring Car '02 +0.781 sec behind behind rabbit vs , bl 1:14.419 (ran over 300km on this track before winning)

This win was a result of countless re-starts/retrys , I raced full race against various line ups before I got a grid of SILVIA , CUSCO DUNLOP , Lexus Weds Sport. On the first try vs this grid my final time was 6:50 and I finished less than 1 second behind the Silvia. At that point I knew that this was the grid I had been waiting for.

It was not a perfectly clean race , so I tried to rerun it and came 4th with faster laps..I did one mistake on last lap that cost me aboout 5 seconds) The 2nd place car SuperVeloce got past the One-77 and clocked a 9:02 while I had time of 9:15.. Random luck + rubber band effect.

512PP - 9:17.124 - Lamborghini Miura P400 Bertone Prototype ... - SH - MR - 349bhp - 980kg vs Viper GTS Launch Edition '13 +1.451 sec behind SRT10 ACR 5.183 sec behind , bl 1:44.765
I was 3rd approaching the hairpin on last lap , I got inside for the entry in 2nd place , 1st place ACR went in too fast & straith into the wall.

I reran this too in hopes of a cleaner race : 2x spun by AI .. 3rd time I ran good laps and could not catch leaders that ran 5 sec faster.

492PP - 9:10.034 - Suzuki GSX-R/4 '01 - SH - MR - 172bhp - 640kg - vs Aston Martin One-77 '11 +0.534 sec behind 1:43.480 (I passed the Aston martin after T2/lap5)

Got a grid with One-77 , SLR McLaren '09 and Viper GTS '13. After the first try (9:15) I knew I'd have a chance vs this grid. I had been doing 9:10's on average with this car vs other line ups. The SLR McLaren held the Viper back enought that I could get past it before it'd go chase the One-77 and cause them both speed up.

EDIT: added Audi R8 4.2 power & weight.

398PP - 1'25.749 - 4'42.719 - Elan Series 1 '62 – CS – FR – 103hp – 639kg – Celica SS-II ST202 - 4'42.963

Celica - Love the look of the car. But Front wheel drive and a parsec between 2nd and 3rd gear make it a trial at times. Solid engine. car seemed to pendulum in corners at time a the weight transfer seemed to ebb and flow about. Could just have been the front tyres cooling down and the grip returning.

GTO SR - Big handsome sporty car. The engine pours out power and has gobs of torque. And the all wheel drive let the car get out of corners with less headaches than the Celica. But the weight is the issue. The tyres get punished in the corners but they recover swiftly - I really enjoyed the car despite it's horrendous horn.

Elan - I was expecting good things here. but the lack of power was the factor. the track is -mostly- flat out so it lost chunks of time on the straights. To get the most you have to think back to 1962 - In F1 the cars only had 1.5 litre engines and the skill of the driver was not to muscle a car about but to coax the car through the corners with as least resistance as you can, to keep the momentum going keeping the revs high and the speed higher. Silky smooth driving skills can be honed in this car.

I guess if I were to rerun this the GTO would begin to post faster laps. I see much more potential in that car to go faster. the Elan struggles to get fast and traffic only hinders it as you are forced to shorten a corner radius up the inside (Which costs you on the following straight or pull a loopy long outside line which costs you a bit at the time but exit speed should be good.
