This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #24:

Beginner Level Classic Sports Cars Race: Brands Hatch Indy - 450 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Kart Race 100: Kart Space I - 457 PP - SS
Expert Level Roadster/MX-5: Tsukuba 6 Laps: Tsukuba - 450 PP - CS

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Best Lap - Total Time - Car - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight - Rabbit - Rabbit Total Time

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then total time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on total time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best total time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

450PP Sports Car at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit:
373PP
- 0:59.699 - 5:27.939 - Toyota 2000GT '67 - CS - FR - 153hp - 1120kg - DOME-ZERO '78 - 5:28.366

Kart at Kart Space I:
457PP
- 0:36.230 - 3:54.646 - Gran Turismo Racing Kart 100 SPL - MR - 22hp - 80kg - Racing Kart 100 - 3:55.261

450PP Roadster/MX-5 at Tsukuba:
391PP - 1:10.259 - 7:33.158 - Mazda Roadster RS (NC) '07 - CS - FR - 164hp - 1100kg - Roadster RS (NC) '07 - 7:10.004

I highly suspect gold with a stock Mazda is unlikely. The highest PP car I can find is the Roadster RS (NC) '07 at 391PP which is far from the 450PP limit; this was also the rabbit in my races. I could not get beyond 6th place driving stock. When I used this car fine-tuned to 450PP I was still only able to catch up to the rabbit in the last lap (with 1:06.xxx lap times).

And thanks to those who have been entering their own or others' data into the spreadsheets. 👍

Won't be able to get onto these until tomorrow but they look like a lot of fun. I know I'm very much in the minority but I love kart racing. Plus classic sports cars at Brands and an "impossible" challenge. Excellent.

It requires either a 1-move block at the end (which this race has, as the Dino started out front) or the E-Type starting out front to keep the true rabbits down, but the Classic Sports Cars race can be done with the 1974 Mitsubishi Lancer 1600 GSR (no assists and flappy-paddle manual):

450PP Classic Sports Car at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit:
358PP -
1'00.962 - 5'30.866 - Mitsubishi Lancer 1600 GSR '74 - CS - FR - 107hp - 825kg - Ferrari Dino 246 GT '71 - 5'30.974

I agree on the Miata seasonal being impossible with a stock car.

450PP Classic Sports Car at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit:
317PP -
1'04.061 - 5'48.060 - Nissan SILVIA '65 - CM - FR - 88bhp - 980kg - Alpine A110 1600S '72 - 5'48.401

An interesting race, partly since the rabbit decided to become a mobile chicane on the very last corner while I was still behind him!

My best time for the MX5/Roadster challenge was a couple of 7'22s, depending on the rabbit I'm still at least 6 seconds behind winning pace :guilty:

I passed the Alpine from outside in last corner pretty close to it and it lost all will to battle for position. After passing the Alpine I focused just staying infront of it. At finish line the 300SL sneaked past the Alpine.

Kart at Kart Space I:
457PP
- 0:35.533 - 3:49.831 - Gran Turismo Racing Kart 100 SPL - MR - 22hp - 80kg - Racing Kart 100 SPL - 3:50.731

457PP - 0:35.985 - 3:51.963 - Gran Turismo Racing Kart 100 - MR - 22hp - 80kg - Racing Kart 100 SPL - 3:52.514

I ran the race about half a dozen times with each kart and apart from a couple of blunders got the same result every time. I understand that it might be tricky with a controller but with a wheel I can't see what's not to like. You get a quick, intense, close race against evenly matched competition and it's a hoot. I'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between the two though. I did a better time in the SPL but that might have been because I did it last and had had more practice.

450PP Classic Sports Car at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit:
410PP -
0:58.952 - 5:27.483 - Lancia Stratos '73 - CS - MR - 185hp - 900kg - Stratos '73 - 5:28.068

Remarkably I didn't bin it in the gravel on the first corner, in fact I did the whole race without getting it out of shape once. Obviously didn't have to push too hard to beat the twin sister so I was going pretty cautious but it felt very comfortable here. Maybe need to try it against the Dino.

338PP - 1'02.633 - 5:42.206 - Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 Duetto '66 - CS - FR - 108hp - 960kg - A110 1600S '72 - 5:42.309

I'm sure there'll be more to come.

Expert Level Roadster/MX-5: Tsukuba 6 Laps: Tsukuba - 450 PP - CS
So not impossible then. @MadMax You could have kept us in suspense for a bit longer. 👍

20 lineups Pekka? :scared: Reminds me of those GT4 endurance days where I'd spend ages looking for the right cars for maximum A-spec points. Nice one 👍

@StirlingMoose : I only suggested improbable, not impossible. ;)
@MadMax : Nice find. 1 in 20 line ups... A rabbit that is 15 seconds slower would motivate me to improve by 10 seconds...alas my Blu-ray laser has died so I must wait until I get a replacement. :grumpy:

450PP Classic Sports Car at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit:
384PP -
1:01.750 - 5:37.534 - Mini Marcos GT '70 - CS - FF - 74hp - 559kg - E-Type Coupe '61 - 5:37.587

I always thought the Marcos had a rather high PP rating and indeed this will be the first time it's made an appearance in the spreadsheet. It's light as a feather and what little weight there is is mostly over the front wheels so just point them in the direction you want to go and they'll drag the rest of the car with them. But with only 74 Longbridge horses it's a bit of a slow-coach. Couldn't beat the Dino or the Stratos without blocking.

359PP - 1:01.928 - 5:31.771 - VW Golf GTI '76 - CS - FF - 107hp - 620kg - Dino 246 GT '71 - 5:31.834

Maybe the GTi has a particularly generous PP but this was a lot easier.

A few more..

358PP - 1:03.175 - 5:41.358 - Corvette Convertible (C1) '54 - CS - FR - 149hp - 1309kg - A110 1600S '72 - 5:41.523

Well that was much more enjoyable than I was expecting. It's heavy and those comfort tyres don't provide much grip but it does wallow and slide about in a nicely neutral and predictable way. Two gears is not really a handicap with so much grunt. And it looks so elegant.

415PP - 0:59.049 - 5:23.869 - Pontiac Firebird Trans Am '78 - CS - FR - 219hp - 1640kg - Dino 246 GT '71 - 5:24.365

Sticking with American muscle and this one's a lot more hench. Easily beats the Dino but somehow it's not a much fun as the old Corvette.

375PP - 1:00.266 - 5:30.520 - Lotus Europa S2 '68 - CS - MR - 79hp - 624kg - Stratos '73 - 5:30.542

398PP - 1:00.022 - 5:27.462 - Lotus Elan S1 '62 - CS - FR - 103hp - 639kg - Dino 246 GT '71 - 5:27.480

A brace of Colin Chapman's finest and testament to the "Simplify, then add lightness" mantra. It's hard to believe the Europa is only 79bhp. The Elan (painted white in honour of Emma Peel) took three attempts. The Dino came back and won by 0.02s the first two times.

317PP - 1:05.276 - 5:55.387 - Nissan SILVIA '65 - CM - FR - 88bhp - 980kg - Corvette Coupe (C2) '63 - 5:55.435

This one took me by surprise. I was expecting the Corvette to be fast but he certainly wasn't.

Edit-
429PP - 0:58.878- 5:22.811 - Corvette Coupe (C2) '63 - CS - FR - 248bhp - 1370kg - Dino 246 GT '71 - 5:23.327

I wanted to see why Aguilar was so slow in the Corvette but he's got no excuse really.

And a few more -

370PP - 0:59.741- 5:28.007 - Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (KPGC110) '73 - CS - FR - 157bhp - 1145kg - Dino 246 GT '71 - 5:28.173

373PP - 1:01.274 - 5:29.248 - Nissan Skyline HT 2000GT-R (KPGC10) '70 - CS - FR - 157bhp - 1100kg - Dino 246 GT '71 - 5:29.311

Not much to choose between the two Datsuns. Fairly pokey, two litres and "GT" in the name meant fast in those days, but they suffer from pretty horrible understeer. I have to admit to a couple of unwelcome meetings with Mr Gravel at turn 1 early on.

359PP - xxx - 5:36.776 - Alpine A310 1600VE '73 - CS - RR - 123bhp - 930kg - Corvette Coupe (C2) '63 - 5:37.331

Not a hint of understeer here. This is much more like it. Got the dream line-up of the Corvette on pole with the Plymouth in second so opted to make the most of it by running comfort hards (won) then CH and no abs (second by a smidgen). One less lock-up and I would have had him for sure.

Sorry been rounding up the undesirables for the new British Government and placing them in - as the French say - an Oubliette. Good time to forget about bad news and all that.

Anyhow - got a few timesfor this - the MX5 looked impossibru for me. I can go faster than the lead car - but I need to find 4 seconds every lap... Which isn't going to happen soon as I guess we all have done a few hundred laps with this combination over the last decade.

The Kart Space one was amazing - how bad I was (Reverse... how do I get this into reverse - why are the Marshalls not helping!) eventually I improved and on my 4th go managed - what was a fairly easy win - so long as you don't get punted or you don't end up nose first into the barriers.

B-indy - I've never felt at home in Kent. But the combo is neat and many cars can win.

Good luck drivers

Expert Level Roadster/MX-5: Tsukuba 6 Laps: Tsukuba - 450 PP - CS
A dozen reloads to get the grid then six races with results ranging from 2nd by 0.5s to 5th and about 10s down. I'm not sure I have the patience for this, assuming I have the ability. Looking at the number of goes it took @MadMax I could be here forever. Added a supercharger just to get the gold. Have to see what tomorrow brings. If there's nothing too exciting I might have another go.

Had some fun in the Lancia Stratos - with Comfort Hard tyres. - Comfy Softs are default so

Hakosuka - 373pp - 157bhp - 1100kg - FR - CS
