This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #25:

Expert Level Racing Car Challenge: Tokyo R246 Reverse - 700 PP - RH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Best Lap - Total Time - Car - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight - Rabbit - Rabbit Total Time

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then total time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on total time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best total time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

The AI are intermediate drivers in expert cars. I watched as one forgot the brakes, flew past me, and spun out another car 720 degrees...and they still kept going like nothing happened.

20150521 GT6 seasonals

Interesting prize cars - Maybe in "unique" paint colours... yeah right. Can you win them mulitple times???

WHich stands out.
##
642R Oykot in a bit 700pp racer to win a Vette Z06 C6 LM Racer
Silvastun International - to win a TVR Tamora - 500pp SHtyres - Normal car
Or High speed ring in a 450pp SH car to win a 10 year old VW...

I'm in the Alpine... lets go to the High SPeed Ring
450PP at High Speed Ring:
422pp - 1m28.019 - 4m44.694- Alpine A110 1600S 1972 - CS - RR - 138bhp - 715 kg -
- Impreza sedan WRX STi 94 - 4m45.334 (+00.640)

Alpine topped out at 123mpg so I had ot half throttle near the rev limiter in 5th. Managed to reel in the leaders but the SUbaru seemed to get a second wind once I was on its tail. Just pulled away while I was speed limited.
HSR is like an old fashion GP track but 3 times as wide. The long sweepers would be much more of a test if hou only had half the track to bleed into. Still- until they do Retro 1960's versions of the old classics, I'll have to vent.

156,000 kazulas

450PP at High Speed Ring:
422pp - 1m26.663 - 4m41.053 - Alpine A110 1600S 1972 - CS - RR - 138bhp - 715 kg -
- Ford Focus RS 2002 - 4m41.659 (+00.606)

AI just unable to take the speed the Alpine can through th final corner which is very nearly full chat - Fun but easy.

Only got One "Gift notification" Once exited the event I got a single VW Golf GTi - any colour you want save for Green....

***On to Sunny Northamptonshire***

picked an unused car from ones I have got... the 1992 Mazda RX-7 RZ (FD,J)

Big Merc SL600 on pole... this isn't looking great, 5 laps to turn it arround
500PP at Silverstone International Circuit:
438pp -1m18.555 - 7m10.590 - 1992 Mazda RX-7 RZ (FD,J) 252bhp - 30 torques - 1230kg - SH tyres (In Brilliant Black...)- ISF 2007 - 7m11.196 (00.606)

You start a fair old way behind but even in my 654cc Japanese car I was able to haul them in and get into the lead on the 4th lap. Then they remember how to go fast - but no need to block (Maybe get out of their way at times!)

240,000 kazulas and a TVR happy days! (Ash Green Metallic as I don't like Cream Coloured Leather.)
Gah this RX7 now has 10.8 miles on the clock - no wins... but I got it just before GT6 wouldn't update for me back in November... Why does my drive feel the need to mince

about in the garage - I'd be slouched in a deck chair - or else in the motorhome with the new massusse.

450PP at High Speed Ring:
410PP - 1:24.742 - 4:36.868 - Lancia Stratos '73 - CS - MR -185hp - 900kg - NSX '99 - 4:37.320

High speed ring, low speed cars. I thought this might be a bit dull, but 140mph round turn 1 in the Stratos is anything but. I thought the AI were pretty feisty for a beginner race.

500PP at Silverstone International Circuit:
463PP
- 1:16.884 - 7:00.614 - Tesla Roadster '08 - SH - MR - 277hp - 1238kg - Viper GTS '99 - 7:01.478

I hadn't driven the Roadster in ages and had forgotten how much fun it was. The AI didn't put up much of fight, indeed they seemed slow and timid. Maybe I need to try something a little less dominant.

700PP RC at Tokyo R246 Reverse:
This is going to take some doing. It always takes me a while to get my eye in with really fast cars and on top of that it's going backwards. Is it best to look over your shoulder or just use your mirrors? I optimistically tried out a few no-hopers and of course got nowhere. But it did give me chance to learn the track, and I didn't get any bother from the maniac AI as the only time I saw them was on the odd occasion I passed one that had crashed.

Will give the others a go later. This is a great idea BTW! 👍 I haven't played GT6 for well over 12 months but after the disappointment of no G27 support for pCARS I decided to jump back into the GT series to get my racing fix. :)

Cheers.

I was trying various cars out at HSR and realised I was getting very bored trundling around. I don't think it's a great combo. Too easy in fast cars and too dull in slow ones. Happily I found a couple of middle-aged Italian ladies to cure my boredom. The Ferrari handles just lovely on CS and has enough power to leave them in the dust. As always the Stratos is a more demanding playmate. Thinking of maybe going non-stock and trying the Ferrari on CH.

Edit - Maybe CH was a step too far. It took me four goes to get the win on CMs against the Countach. On CH I was half way down the field with a total race time nearing 8 minutes so that's going to be a tricky one.

Alright, so in keeping with the MR2 theme from the first challenge, here is my submission for the second challenge...

Intermediate Level Non-Racing Car Challenge: Silverstone International Circuit - 500 PP - SH

- 1:22.567 - 7:27.095 - Toyota MR2 Spyder '99 - CS - MR - 138BHP - 970kg - Jaguar XKR Coupe '10 - 7:27.150

Will give the last one a go tomorrow hopefully. Suffice to say that I won't be able to maintain the MR2 theme with that one...

Cheers.

I expect this can definitely be bettered. I expect the 787B @ 678PP would be one that could definitely do it but I'm not sure I will get a chance to test the theory. Good luck. 👍

Cheers.

EDIT: I did have a go with the mighty 787B and managed to get the job done comfortably...

Tried out a trio of last century sporty MRs and all great fun. The Renault provided the most entertainment although I had to go grid-hunting to get the win. And I now hold the record for the slowest race so far. I'd done it faster and lost by 10s and the only other time I'd got close I'd had a disastrous first lap. The moral of the story is "If you want to win drive crap". I can manage that.

@X3rx3s44 Great job in the MR2 and in the expert one. Puts you at the top of the table in two out of the three races. That's not a bad debut performance. If you feel like putting your times in the spreadsheet (link at the top) feel free. If you don't it's no problem. I go through the thread every few days and enter any missing times.

Tokyo - I'm impressed that anyone can win this in any car. It's all a bit frantic for someone of my age. The best I managed was sixth in the Sauber Merc. I'll keep at it but I can't see myself seeking out low PP cars on this one.

Very observant. 👍 I'd copied the (incorrect) figure from the spreadsheet. Fixed.

I had a feeling you might do it in the MG. I'd had a go and it felt like it had possibilities, but probably not with me at the wheel.

Thanks @MadMax 👍 Glad you picked up on this and it wasn't just my game doing its own thing. I noticed when I posted these that the power output was different from dealership to garage but just posted dealership specs in case people thought I was cheating by somehow increasing BHP without changing PP. Anyway, here are the revised BHP figures as shown in the garage...

Cheers @StirlingMoose  I think in this game all generations of the MR2 are quite under-rated from a PP standpoint. As a stock MR car on CS tyres they have very good balance and when they do let go it is very controllable.

As for Tokyo, that one had me cursing the AI on more than one occasion I promise you!

Also, I found the only way was to grid hunt a little so you didn't have Toyota 7, Toyota Minolta, Mercedes Sauber and Pescarolo Hybride as the front 4 starters because once they get past the Toyota 7 they keep pushing each other and catching them is nigh on impossible...

Since then, I have found the Tokyo event a good credit grinding race as with the Toyota Minolta stock + oil change sits just nicely on 700PP and then all I have done is crank on maximum front downforce to get the thing to turn and adjust gearbox top speed to 360km/h. Other than that it is all stock and that should put you clear of any grid arrangement and score a cool $500,000 at the end to help fund buying the different Group Cs/LMPs to try this challenge...

Cheers.

Ran this a couple days ago; not particularly difficult but spent a couple runs figuring out to not ram the AI at every turn. Reason I left it was because I was going for an even lower PP with the Tigra at 334PP... this is the closest I got to winning:

Needless to say, I gave up... probably could've won if I had the patience.

Knew the MG was a candidate, but I saw quite a few cars that had the same PP so I gave my favourite one a go :) tricky to get past but I had two laps of clear air before catching the leading few cars.

Not really in the spirit of things but it wasn't that hard in the Hotpoint. Not up to my usual standard of fair-play and politeness but I managed to avoid clouting the AI hard enough to set them off in a rage. I ran it a few times in the hope of getting a completely clean race but against these nutters you have to be a bit pushy or they'll walk all over you.

Edit -
If anybody fancies trying to equal mcsqueegy's 338PP at HSR I'd suggest the Alfa Giulia Sprint Speciale. I've always found it be at least the equal of the Spider and I've done a 4:55 race in it so if you can find the right grid.

Hit the barrier trying to avoid AI on lap 2 so this was much closer than it needed to be :boggled: the game freaked out and only gave me credits for 2nd, so I tried it again with a 4'57.0xx and a less stressful finish!

The 1974 Lancer I used at the Classic Sports Car event didn't have enough top-end speed for me at High Speed Ring, so I grabbed the Z-car's predecessor and used the high racing line in turns 2 and 6 to do a nice back-and-forth with the 2004 Acura NSX, with 5 passes for the lead between turn 6 on lap 2 and the checkered flag a lap later:

I'm not a fan of Silverstone, so I probably overdid the power with a 2007 Mazda RX-8 Type S. I barely survived an ugly final lap to hold off the 2007 Lexus IS F.

The Expert race is impossible for me. I got smoked in the R8.

375 PP issue

Not sure why but I thought I would test out all the 375pp cars for the HSR and SilvyInternational

HSR should be a walk - but Silvastun? Depends on the AI. But the times should be valid and as Lewis Hamilton proved in Monte Carlo last weekend you can have loads of fun so long as you try your best - did you see his happy face as he managed to get his perfectly handling Mercedes to a podium position.
(That is trying to say the best doesn't always mean a win, and a winner isn't the best.)

So lets line up the usual suspects.

2002 - Mazda Sedan Sport 20 '02
Pontiac Vibe GT '03
Mazda Atenza Sport 25Z '07
Lotus Europa Series2 '68
Spoon CR-Z '??
Renault Avantime '02
Datsun Fairlady 2000 (SR311) '68
(But were there not only five in the film...)

And the Spoon CR-Z is Keyser Soze. Because Race car! Faff.

Liked the car as it had a nice natural balance to it through the flat sweepers. A top speed on track of 130 in 5th but you can slipstream to 133 into the red without hitting the rev limiter

"Of course, in French 'Avan' translates as Understeer"
6 gears but 6th is a tall tall gear so it is a big step from 5th to 6th. The Comfort Tyres Front Wheel drive and quite alot of French Meat makes for less Avantime and much more Understeertime. Not sure if you can make better speed over revving in 5th so you are not bogged down in top gear.

7,000 red line - Deep rumbling 2 litre engine - Gearbox is very tall and a change from 7000 often drops you to under 5000 for the next gear. I imagine a small bit of tuning will unlock alot of potential from the car which I felt was hamstrung by the overly tall gears. It is quite good otherwise, honest!

180bhp 1273kg.... could be a bit of a sleeper. Paint chips... evocative names - Envy could only be one colour... I wonder how close it is related to Walter Whites original car in Breaking Bad (Pontiac Aztek in Baby Puke Beige) - But really a Toyota in an Americanized way.
1.8litres of Brutal American per-wuh. Not bad at all. Gears felt nice and it has a super tall 6th gear for high speed low revs stuff, which you never need on track. The car handled very well for a tall SUV style front wheel drive. Certainly felt fast - But if you are not in a slip stream you will lose alot of time over a lap. Good fun. Maybe it was a sports suspension (Stock) that gave it more race than other FFcars. Certainly alot more to like than to dislike. It has a comedy Speak and Spell beep for a horn.

All the paint chips could be *ahem* Glamour Model names, Crystal White, Stormy Blue - So lets pick the runty ginger, Carrot Top (The paint chip is actually called Copper Red - and Triv fact - the top of a carrot is actually green...)
2.5 litre 4 door and a bit of weight to it. 63% of it over the front axel. I don't expect the front tyres to stand up well. But they do. The engine has 6 gears but redlines at 6 and Half but the engine otherwise feels pretty eager and punchy. But It can't quite hold off a GT-R for top speed... lost out in the second race by half a car as we crossed the line side by side at High Speed Ring.

I can see the lack of grunt being a serious issue here. It should handle like it is painted onto the track, but I can see some under 100mph issues 11 torques... yes it is slow, only 4 gears and it will hit the rev limiter in 4th if you are in a slipstreaming at 122mph. Actually it will manage this without a draft too. But this is a MR car so you can drive corners without killing the front tyres, The car has a great rotation through corners - oversteer but "novice level" stuff. Silvy is a place you can carry alot mroe speed than you first think. Higher gears and proper racing lines let you carry your momentum. Sub 8 race? Easy once you get your eye in.

Odd replay only two sectors - and it always looks good seeing a lone car with CS tyres with the rest on SH tyres like a bunch of hairstylists. (Says the man in a white soft top.)
0.038 of second looks like the Merc was along side and its nose was level with my windscreen - about the distance from Pole to the white timing line as well.

That felt great after the Front wheel drive torture
