This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.
1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #27:

Beginners' Level Non-Racing Car Challenge: Cape Ring Inside - 450 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Non-Racing Car Challenge: Matterhorn Dristelen - 500 PP - SH
Expert Level Racing Car Challenge: Tokyo R246 - 700 PP - RH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Best Lap - Total Time - Car - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight - Rabbit - Rabbit Total Time

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then total time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on total time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best total time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

450PP at Cape Ring Inside:
364PP
- 1:07.837 - 3:49.146 - Nissan Fairlady Z280 Z-L 2-seater (S130) '78 - CS - FR - 142hp - 1225kg - IMPREZA Sedan WRX STi version... - 3:49.337

500PP at Matterhorn Dristelen:
454PP
- 1:17.726 - 7:16.845 - Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta passo corto CN.2521 '61 - CS - FR - 275hp - 960kg - Corvette Z06 (C5) '00 - 7:16.919

After winning with this car on my first go and realizing I had left SH tires on it :embarrassed:...I had to do it with CS tires. It's a very fun car to drive here.

700PP RC at Tokyo R246:
691PP - 1:26.645 - 7:42.721 - Mercedes-Benz Sauber Mercedes C9 '89 - RH - MR - 927hp - 893kg - Minolta Toyota 88C-V '89 - 7:23.282

I have doubts many will complete this one stock. Looking back at the spreadsheet for Race 25.3 (the reverse), the fastest times were set by X3rx3s44 and MadMax who each made 7:28.xxx. The slowest I have seen for a rabbit this time is 7:29.xxx. Most of the AI was in the 7:30s last time, so they seem to be about 10 seconds faster than they were last time.

Home early and a chance to use two of my favourite cars. Lovely.

Beginners' Level Non-Racing Car Challenge: Cape Ring Inside - 450 PP - SH

- 1:05.232 - 3:43.841 - Lancia Stratos '73 - CS - MR - 185bhp - 900kg - NXS Type S '99 - 3:44.447

Did it in the prize Datsun too. Very dull after the Stratos.

Intermediate Level Non-Racing Car Challenge: Matterhorn Dristelen - 500 PP - SH
454PP -
1:17.605 - 7:16.377 - Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta passo corto '61 - CS - FR - 275bhp - 960kg - DB9 Coupe '06 - 7:17.119

@Hastatus Great minds and all that. Very fun indeed.

20150618 GT6 seasonals

sorry for lack of formatting!

Tokyo in a Race car.... After the Pug VGT not sure I really want to do that again. I have to be really in the mood to drive at Tokyo and I only did the last one so much as it was the Reversed 642R Oykot layout, which I prefer.

Matterhorn Dristelen - 500pp none racecars. Much more like it! Loved the Race car event so a run with cars that don't have Magic grip tyres and magic grip aero will be good.

Baby Cape Ring - 450pp This was my first online track when I discovered just what a hive of Senna and Schumacher style drivers there are in the world - That is not a compliment. Ramming and rampant cheating. At least the Ai don't get up to such skulduggery.

To Switzerland.
Intermediate Level Non-Racing Car Challenge: Matterhorn Dristelen - 500 PP - SH
Car...
TVR Griffith 500 '94
495pp - 340bhp - 1060kg - SH

1m14.695 - 7m03.114 - Countach 25th Anniversary '?? 7m04.645
1m13.753 - 6m56.638 - Countach 25th Anniversary '?? - 6m58.343

Loved the car and the track. The first run was a safe run, The AI in awkward places, so often I would pass later rather than early or defer a pass if I thought I may bump or go off track.
Second try I was much more aggressive. Car was dangerously light in places,

I then had a dash in ... my usual the Mazda RX7 RS-R from 1997

Intermediate Level Non-Racing Car Challenge: Matterhorn Dristelen - 500 PP - SH
Mazda RX-7 RS-R (FD) '97
441pp - 262bhp - 1280kg - SH

1m15.372 - 7m06.667 - 8C Competitzione '08 - 7m07.863

Odd as I could go flat up the hill whereas I had to lift in the TVR half way up. The car rotates very easily but all in all an easy win.
It was a great race the top 4 in a clump and Ari Vatanen in my TVR Griffith - In Crimson Starmist too! was a couple of seconds off the formation flyings leaders of. A Ferro in the Alfa 8C. P Nowak's DB9 Coupe and , R Rizzi in a sky blue BTR.

I returned later but was slower over one lap but faster over the race distance... I guess I didn't have to dance through traffic in odd places

1m15.666 - 7m04.659 - M4 Coupe - 7m06.601

-----

I also had a dash at Cape Ring Inside - Which is quite good as it doesn't have the made up jump or the sprial bridge. Only 3 laps. Quite a large gap so passing is quite easy as the Ai are really chugging.

61.474 - 3m30.128 - NSX Type S '99 - 3m32.4??

156,000 for the win. 624,000 for 12 little laps. So fast easy money but the track was tough as I don't know it very well and had several time sapping offs. Last run was extra odd as I was trying to be very neat and tidy but I was obviously going "Too Slow in, Not fast enough out" - I will return and the goal of a sub 60 second clean lap should be very do-able. (I don't touch any curbs - only the white lines and I know this bleeds loads of time.)

435PP - 1:15.xxx - 7:10.340 - Nissan Silvia 240RS (S110) '83 - SH - FR - 235hp - 970kg - XRK Coupe '10 - 7:11.238

It's my new favourite minger. I only met Silvia last week in California but, despite her having looks only a mother could love, I'm quite smitten. Did the race four times because I was enjoying myself so much. Just watched the last replay to review an "incident". I thought one of the AI had possibly caused a collision. Turns out I did a Grosjean on him. Thought I was faster than I was and pulled across his bows leaving him nowhere go to go. This was in the braking zone for the tight right-hander at the bottom of the hill. Of course he remained glued to the track while I went sideways first towards the outside wall then back across the apex in a cloud of smoke and on to win. Sorry mate.

Nice car - not quite as alive as the Griffith but it makes up for that by being much more stable in corners. On paper the two are close in terms of numbers - infact you would look at the Layer of lard on the Ferrari and perhaps think the Griffith has an edge, but perhaps the Ferraris stiffer coupe chassis gives it the handling edge. Fun if rather sedate car to drive. (Maybe Pop up headlamps reduces the lap time...)

Took a few tries! Kept it fairly clean until the final corner, those kerbs suck you in and spit you out the other side...

Not too tricky thanks to the V8 Vantage holding up the pack... got the lead at the top of the hill on the last lap. Despite traffic, my laps 2-5 were less than 2 tenths apart.

I'd not driven this one before. Felt very floaty at high speed on its comfort tyres but knuckled down ok when asked to turn. Lots of lovely controllable oversteer and if you really overdo it a dab of oppo gets it back without any drama. It's slow up the hill but that makes it more interesting. Got to get turn 1 right every time, even if it means hanging back a bit. Better to bide your time, let them go and pass them on the hill than get in a tangle mid-turn, lose 10mph and get re-passed as you chug up the hill. Same deal with the kink half way up but not quite as crucial.

493PP - 1:12.173 - 6:46.473 - Lotus Esprit Sport 350 '00 - SH - MR - 353hp - 1300kg - M4 Coupe - 6:53.973

I prefer the styling of the newer car. I don't think the original design has aged well. Looks too kit-car-ish. Of course the V8 goes a lot faster too but it's still got the same feel. No worries about passing strategy with this one though. Just blast it round.

Once I got a handle on the wheelspin, this wasn't too difficult... my first success was a bit messy so I re-did it and ended up over a second faster!

Video, not my usual standard of cleanliness given the track and car combo...

this wasn't too difficult...

You're in very small minority that feels like that. You certainly make it look easy. I've had to remove the camber, and increase downforce, and use TC* and I still haven't won it, although at least I've got my time down to one that can win, and I haven't had to resort to SRF yet. Did you use the "helicopter" view for the race?

* I know TC slows you down, but not as much as reversing out of the walls.

Update - Well I got the win with my non-stock (I'd hesitate to call it tuned) car but couldn't do better than third with the stock settings. I'm admitting defeat on this one and that hasn't happened for a while. The last Tokyo one was tough but this is a step further. Great job @mcsqueegy.

In Taka Bo colours (Scarlet) I had a quick 10 mile homage to Porsche Challenge. which had a fewraces in the AlpsCar was well behaved, and manageable but I had a lot of Blackpool based cars to get in front of which had me hankering to drive a Cerbera or a Tamora or a T350C.

The Dino doesn't get seem to get used much since the FT86 has become the low PP car of choice in this class so I thought I'd give it a go. It's a far easier winner and more fun too.

100% clean which was some work in this case. The Aristo was especially tangible.
