This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #33:

Beginner Level Non-Race Car Challenge: High Speed Ring - 450 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Non-Race Car Challenge: Madrid - 500 PP - SH
Expert Level Race Car Challenge: Silverstone Grand Prix - 700 PP - RH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Best Lap - Total Time - Car - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight - Rabbit - Rabbit Total Time

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then total time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on total time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best total time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

450PP at High Speed Ring:
373PP
- 1:26.486 - 4:40.560 - Toyota 2000GT '67 - CS - FR - 153hp - 1120kg - SKYLINE GT-R V-spec (R32) '93 - 4:41.235

500PP at Madrid:
413PP
- 1:40.872 - 5:28.810 - Ferrari Dino 246 GT '71 - SH - MR - 191hp - 1080kg - M$ Coupe - 5:29.124

700PP RC at Silverstone Grand Prix:
684PP
- 1:47.368 - 9:34.308 - Mazda 787B Stealth Model - RH - MR 838hp - 830kg - Pescarolo C60 Hybride - Judd '05 - 9:34.698

I was surprised to win the expert event on my first try. I checked the replay expecting to find some AI crashes, but apart from the Toyota 7 slowing down the Minolta and the rabbit Pescarolo starting in fourth I didn't see anything suspicious apart from some mediocre driving: the AI just seemed less speedy and less pushy than usual for this PP range on expert. :odd:

450PP at High Speed Ring:
423PP
- 1:21.615 - 4:28.045 - Vauxhall VX220 Turbo - CS - MR - 197hp - 1005kg - M coupe - 4:30.421

Stood out, gave it a go and it was overkill but a fun car to drive. AI was nice.

500PP at Madrid:
489PP
- 1:38.544 - 5:20.997 - Mitsubishi HSR-II '89 - SH - 4WD - 344hp - 1200kg - SL 55 AMG - 5:27.603

Again looked in my garage and this stood out. The AI however were very awkward at the start, but I had the lead by half distance... Overkill again. Odd car to drive with all the doohickies popping up and sticking out in the turns.

Silverstun - I had a crack with the VGT by Peugeot - but only managed 4th and was 11 seconds or so down... maybe if I get my act together and unleash my inner Maldonado I can get a win... I had a few off track moments in the first sector of the first lap - Driving where only Kimi would drive, at times!

450PP at High Speed Ring:
419PP
- 1:25.691 - 4:39.704 - Alpine A110 1600S'73 - CS - RR - 138hp - 715kg - Elise 111R '04 - 4:40.712

They're really spoiling us now. We've had this one twice before, and it was pretty dull the first time. Flat-out and steer for four minutes, with only two real braking points. I remember last time the only way to make it fun was a fast car on harder tyres, or Stratos. The Alpine is the next best thing I suppose, and it is fun in the corners. But no substitute for the real McCoy..

410PP - 1:25.142 - 4:38.016 - Lancia Stratos '73 - CS - MR - 185hp - 900kg - Elise 111R '04 - 4:38.361

500PP at Madrid:
462PP
- 1:41.691 - 5:29.737 - Mercury Cougar XR-7 '67 - SH - FR - 319hp - 1418kg - SL 600 (R230) '04 - 5:31.693

Tried a few cars with varying degrees of failure before finding the Cougar. E Type and TVR V8 were both disappointing. British thoroughbreds thrashed by American muscle. For once muscle car gears work well, only just hitting the limiter occasionally.

I had a go in the Batmobile (Pug VGT) at Silverstone but only got third place. It looks hideous and, although it's fast, the handling is frustratingly unpredictable. If there's a knack to driving this thing I haven't got it.

Hey guys. Quiet in here. After seeing the 450 beginner event done at 373 I had to try. Having done it in a 380 Civic I knew it'd be close.

450 PP High Speed Ring - 373 PP - 1:26.090 - 4:41.178 - Toyota 2000GT '67 - CS - FR - 153 HP - 1120 kg - M Coupé '98 - 4:41.761

Pain in butt to bold and hyphen on the iPhone! That was also surpringly easy and first try, so I'll find something a little lower.

Edit

370 PP - 1:27.422 - 4:45.405 - Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R '73 - CS - FR - 157 HP - 1145 kg - RX-7 '95 - 4:45.905

Last time we were here at 450PP mcsqueegy did it in a 334PP Tigra on CMs. I won't be attempting that, but I think the MR2 '86 at 353PP is a good prospect.

Part of a car test thing... which is the better car the Tuscan or the Evora...

500PP at Madrid:
460PP
- 1m38.2 - 5m21.973 - Lotus Evora '09 - SH - MR - 277hp - 1330kg - .........

Nice car with a nasty engine artefact. Too much grip not enough power, gears are far too tall for the power.

500PP at Madrid:
500PP
- 1m35.1 - 5m14.685 - TVR Tuscan Speed 6 '00 - SH - FR - 360hp - 1100kg - .........

No ABS No Traction Control - This car was a hoot, destroyed the AI, but it will destroy you if you forget to use the brakes early.

I ran the Lotus twice and the TVR 3 times... for... 3.4 million for just 15 fun soaked laps. I forgot to note down the AI times.
