Stock or modified

Lets see what feeback we get from this I personaly can not see the advantages of HEAVILY modifing a car
1. cost - why not spend the money that goes faster or looks better
2. lower resale value a good and well looked after original car will all way be worth more epecialy when they get older and become a collectable classic
3.increase insurance
4.how can you fix body work if a accident happens
5.increased power on standard parts puting more strain on them

now when I say Heavily modifed im meaning major panel changes, and major engine modifing I dont see much wrong with just puting a nice set of wheels as most production standard wheels arent the best

I just got on:

Ok, a few incites:

1. Honda's are NEVER going to be collectable... They produce to damn many of them
2. People don't care if the insurance is high, they want their cars to look different... Granted you could get a mid 90's Porshe, get ruff to trick it out, and you would have a faster and better car....

I am looking at BUILDING a car, not modifying it.. The fact that you won't easily (or cheaply) being able to get replacement parts is a good one... I guess when I do it I will need to make spares at the same time...

Now I just need someone to get me a large ammount of medium density foam, and a crapload of bondo.

good response but is the choice we make when we modify but also dont be fooled into yhe fact that your honda will never be a collectable thats where you are wrong some of the best collectabales are cars that we saw heaps of everyday say 25 years ago but to see them as if they came out of the showroom and you have an instant classic .. Think about it what would a 1971 model Honda civic in showroom condition be worth today

1. cost - why not spend the money that goes faster or looks better

People will do what they want to do. Some like looks, some want to go fast, whether it be in a straight line, or on a track.

2. lower resale value a good and well looked after original car will all way be worth more epecialy when they get older and become a collectable classic

I couldn't care. When I mod a car, I'll change it every year or so, to adpat to changing tastes and styles. Resale &future classicability are the furthist things from my mind.

3.increase insurance

Working hazard. You know it's going to so up. Deal with it. Else don't do it.

4.how can you fix body work if a accident happens

Don't crash :) Else, if it does get screwed, gives you an opportunity to change it to something new and different.

5.increased power on standard parts puting more strain on them

Get parts that can take the strain. Wing-ringed engine blocks, better head gaskets, meaty pistons. Stronger parts, that can take the heat.
