This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock Seasonal Time Trials #20:

WSR, 1983 Ayrton Senna Super Lap: target 1:29.000 - Circuito de Madrid - 551PP - RH

4WD Non-Race Car Super Lap: target 1:24.000 - Big Willow - 550PP - SH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Lap Time - Car (try to include manufacturer) - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then lap time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on lap time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best lap time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

Thanks to @MisterWeary for setting up this week’s tabs in the spreadsheet. 👍

My times so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

WRS at Madrid:

551PP – 1:28.708 – WSR, 1983 Ayrton Senna – RH – MR – 164hp – 455kg

It’s nice that PD brought back the Gold Chrome after the last time it was changed for people who did the event before it was changed to Gold Chrome. The 1.34 million dollar payout was nice too! :)

4WD at Big Willow:

471PP – 1:26.893 – Subaru S206 NBR Challenge Package ’12 – SH – 4WD – 315hp – 1470kg
472PP – 1:27.579 – Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI RS T.M. Edition ’00 – SH – 4WD – 311hp – 1260kg
472PP – 1:28.170 – Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II Nur (R34) ’02 – SH – 4WD – 336hp – 1560kg

516PP – 1:22.561 – Audi R8 4.2 FSI R tronic ’07 – SH – 4WD – 414hp – 1560kg

As far as I can tell there are no premium 4WD options for this event between the 516PP Audi and the 472PP Mitsubishi. :odd:

Amen to that! I only had a little time yesterday to have a go and my priority was to get that chip in case PD changed their mind again :)👍
551PP – 1:28.453Ayrton Senna West Surrey Racing, 1983 Ayrton Senna – RH – MR – 164bhp – 455kg
Very nice and tantalisingly close for me to want another go :sly: Alas I think I'd always come out second best if I start a battle with you 👍

Spreadsheet Updated

WRS at Madrid:

551PP – 1:27.700 – WSR, 1983 Ayrton Senna – RH – MR – 164hp – 455kg

Nice drive, just remember to avoid the curbs. ;)

4WD at Big Willow:

472PP – 1:27.763 – Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II Nur (R34) ’02 – SH – 4WD – 336hp – 1560kg

516PP – 1:22.288 – Audi R8 4.2 FSI R tronic ’07 – SH – 4WD – 414hp – 1560kg

Final corner is always a challenge between offtrack and killing momentum.

Btw, methinks the Proto '05 is no premium.

WSR at Madrid: 1:25.626

4WD at Big Willow:
496PP
- 1:23.899 - Honda DUALNOTE '01 - SH - 388bhp - 1400kg (needs short shifting)

WSR at Madrid ~ 1:27.628 with everything off.

Had a brainfart with the 4WD at Big Willow and forgot I depowered the NSX Concept '13 from 552pp, so I'll do that again with something else later. :dunce:

ninjaedit:

4WD at Big Willow ~ 1:21.925 in a GT-R Black Edition '12 (546pp) with everything off.

I believe that it is a premium. The interior is not marked as "simple" it is marked as "none". This is because often real life prototypes do not have interiors. Prototypes also often have very tinted windows for the very reason that the car has no interior. My eyes tell me that the body of this car is of premium quality. I think I'll have a go with this car later.

WRS at Madrid:

Nice enough drive stock but doesn't suit this track for me so I'll leave it at that.

4WD at Big Willow:
507PP - 1:23.998 - Nissan GTR Proto 05 - SH -
445bhp -1730kg
I won't pretend it was easy. There were a .023, .016 and a .009 (you can imagine) on the way.
Kudos to @MadMax for doing it in the Dualnote. I tried and failed, but it was the closest of the sub-500pp ones I tried.
Another possible contender is the Pikes Peak Quattro at 503PP. I was just under half a second off in it but I reckon it's possible.
First prize for entertainment though was the Mitsubishi HSR-II Concept '89. Tailing the sci-fi ghost car and watching its flapping wings was so cool I couldn't bring myself to overtake it.

WRS at Madrid:

551PP – 1:28.636 – WSR, 1983 Ayrton Senna – RH – MR – 164hp – 455kg

Had a hard time with this combo for some reason. Love the zingy exhaust and off throttle buzz. Louder please.

Nice run MadMax!

Had a quick go on Big Willow:

4WD at Big Willow:
536PP - 1:23.191 - Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro Chrome Line - SH - 528bhp -1598kg

Wasn't hard but I'm kind of tired of Willow so I don't think I'll give this one any more runs. I did like the F3 at Monaco though so I may come back to that one 👍

Additional 4WD at Big Willow times, with everything off:

1:27.573 in a EVO X GSR '07 (463pp)
1:26.934 in a WRX STI spec C '09 (470pp)
1:23.939 in a Dualnote '01 (496pp)

503PP - 1.24.243 - Audi Pikes Peak quattro '03 - 499bhp - 1900kg

There must be a quarter of of a second there somewhere but I can't find it, and Lord knows I've tried. I still think it's possible but it will take a better driver than me.

WSR at Madrid: 1m28.785

This took a few laps to get to grips with. The blue lines were taunting me with the ABS and TCS users (Final Chicane) - And my first lap was a take it easy lap but I saw one blue line clatter into the Armco and bounce back... very clean indeed.

My own laps were rough. Mostly as I was listening to a Bill Burr podcast - so not really focusing on the track - but ever so relaxed. I got a good first hot lap that was only half a second off gold... easy to shave 5 tenths off and make West Surrey Racing happy? hmmm. For every lap I aced the first sector, I would ease off for the next sector... playing it so safe I would lose almost a second...

Enjoyable as the car wasn't planted and you had to give up in paces to make time later in a corner. Final chicane is messy never felt that good through it.

4WD at Jack Rabbit Springs Raceway:
537PP
- 1m23.084 - Ruf CTR2 - SH - 513bhp - 70 torques - 1380kg (2.69 power to weight ratio)

Didn't know what car to pick. had a dash in a HSR-2 by Mitsubishi but it didn't have the spuds to get Gold when I drove it. So I looked at the options...
Skyline...
LanEvo ...
Audi R8....
Lambo Gallardo...
Then I spotted the Ruf and was already on the way to the track.

The car is a bit of a hippo at times, suspension felt soft and the 4wd feel was ... icky when you push the limit in long corners. But that said once you take a sea sickness pill and get used to the roll and pitching and porpoising of the car
It is a pretty safe Gold car. - It does come with adjustable guff as stock - but these were left default. (Ride Height - 114/114 and camber at 1.0° and 0.5°)

Best bit was the darkness. (I cast Magic Missile at the Darkness.)

typed up a few days ago but only put up here ... erm now!

Figured out one turn then screwed up the the next set. Got that set fine on the next run then muffed the chicane. Mixed and repeated a few more times and finally settled with this run as good enough. For now. Going to try out a tune, the LSD could stand a little TLC.
