This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock Seasonal Time Trials #23:

Red Bull X2014 Standard Super Lap: target 1:26.000 - Suzuka - RH

2-Wheel Drive Non-Race Car Super Lap: target 10:00.000 - Sierra - 500PP - SH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Lap Time - Car (try to include manufacturer) - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then lap time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on lap time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best lap time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My times so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

Red Bull X2014 Standard at Suzuka:

920PP – 1:25.069 – GT Red Bull X2014 Standard – RH – MR – 798hp – 560kg

Glad I had all that prior experience with the X1 at Suzuka in GT5, but I do not remember so many sparklies flying out the back. :boggled:

500PP at Sierra:

413PP – 10:41.514 – Ferrari Dino 246 GT ’71 – SH – MR – 191hp – 1080kg
454PP – 10:28.695 – Shelby GT350 ’65 – SH – FR – 304hp – 1270kg
466PP – 10:17.459 – Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A (FD) ’02 – SH – FR – 292hp – 1270kg
486PP – 9:55.766 – Shelby Series One Super Charged ’03 – SH – FR – 319hp – 1202kg

The Dino and GT350 all top out on their transmissions.

Edit: Did someone change the Spreadsheet so that you have to be signed in to use it? I have been using my laptop without needing to be signed in since the sheet was created and now it constantly kicks me out saying that I need to sign in.

Sierra 500 (Cosworth...)

Had a bash with the search function... My MR car list was so so - The Esprit was tempting, Maybe the Elise... Lets try a different car. So I had a dash in the TommyKaira ZZ-S - I was 13 seconds off gold... but not that impressed with the feel of the car - and those long fast bits felt like killers to my lap time... Not a lot you can do. Maybe if I was a bit more aggressive it would be do-able... but the car was underwhelming.

BTR
Bought a new one as my last one had been tweaked for the Super races at Willow Springs - just to make the tyres last for 20 miles!

Stock, the car is hard on its tyres - for me this car was just right... took two laps to get a clean lap 10m02.6, but a nice guide for the splits... My 3rd lap I coasted the first few corners and lost 2 seconds... only to make it up before the second split. But this set the tone of me driving very well, right up until I drifted wide and nerfed something.
I could go faster in every sector but the car is a handful if you try to take too much speed and lean on the tyres too much.

My lap was good, but even this has some ... only just moments in the last half when I had a nice cushion but still I mucked up corners and only just stayed clean... If I had neat lines in these places I'd have made another 3-4 seconds.

A lot of tough sections corners that you feel great when you dance through them; not so great when you run wide or else go too slow or brake way too early for a corner.
And what about the finishing line.... why is it so far away with no banner above it?

But now I have that blue/green chrome6 chip...

493PP – 9m56.657 – RUF BTR ’86 – SH – RR – 369hp – 49 Torques - 1180kg (3.19kg/bhp) (ABS=0/TCS=0)

Edit - this took a whopping 105.0 miles of work... I know I "Reset" a couple of times. Another note is I ran with no map - so not only didn't I know what was coming beyond that blind corner, I didn't have a visual clue as to how far ahead of my lap 2 ghost.

I took the same car out at the European A Spec race at Ascari - Evening kickoff, quite good fun. Maybe the chrome isn't so bad.

Red Bull X2014 Standard at Suzuka:

920PP – 1:25.761 – GT Red Bull X2014 Standard – RH – MR – 798hp – 560kg

I'd not driven it for ages so it took a few laps to get myself tuned in but it wasn't that hard in the end. I'm going to leave it at that because this is not my sort of thing at all. I can't see the point of a car that can do 130R flat-out so effortlessly.

500PP at Sierra:

493PP – 9:55.554 – Lotus Esprit Sport 350 '00 – SH – MR – 353hp – 1300kg

490PP – 9:46.006 – Honda HSC '03 – SH – MR – 324hp – 1150kg

2-Wheel Drive Non-Race Car Super Lap:

457PP
- 9:55.487 - Mazda RX-7 Type RS (FD) '00 - SH - FR - 286bhp - 1280kg (replay attached)

There are at least 2 places where you can hit invisible wall that is on the rumble. :irked:

First one that got me too many times is right hander after the green 14 markers and the 2nd is left hander after green 28 markers.

Yesterday I started off with this FD and first clean lap I got was a 10:10.3xx , after that followed red 10:02 , 10.01 and 9:57. And many many more red laps , so I slept on it and gave it another try today.

Today's entertainment has been provided by the Anniversary Stratos (434PP CS). Fastest clean lap so far was 10:49 and I've been 7s up on that before messing up, but I'm going to stick my neck out and say gold is impossible in this car.

Edit -

Having given up on the Stratos

481PP – 9:56.799 – Ferrari 512BB '76 – SH – MR – 354hp – 1400kg

First clean one was 1 second off, then the second 0.3s off. That finish line seems like it's never going to come when you're watching the clock ticking by. Lovely car for this track.

I tried the BTR too. A lot of the time spent was before turn three, because I tried to do a "perfect" turn two. But my first clean lap was 17 seconds behind Ryk. At least 200 km distance.

Gradually working my way down the PP (starting to really love this road) I had a crack in the TommyKaira ZZ-S. Just under 7s off gold is my best. It's not a bad little car. Top speed is ok and it's very easy to drive but what lets it down is the gearing. The big gap between 2nd and 3rd means exiting slow corners uphill is a killer. In 2nd you're hitting the limiter and in 3rd it bogs down and seems to take an age to get back up to speed. With a transmission set-up or a few more hp it would be easy. As it is I dare say it's possible with a near perfect lap.

I had a crawl at the Suzuka race... could I be the slowest in the world...
NO - 2 other heroes were even slower than me! Worst bit is ... I can't set a slower-er time. 28,831th

The car just glides along... no rolling resistance - even going uphill I was stunned how much speed it retained (if you class 20mph as speed!)
And with that time I didn't even get a single hand clap on the results page.

BTR - Thematic
It is a confidence car - But I think turn 2 got me first time - Maybe that early lap scare makes you a bit more cautious for the other 16 miles... Evil track builders! I bet a proper driver could hustle a Stock BTR with no aids to some really low times... 9m30 Some acid for blood Alien driver could do that.

Apologies for not updating recently folks. I don't have enough time at home at the present time (and in fact I haven't even turned the PS3 on in at least a week or two?!?) and while I do have some time at work on occasion to get to it, they've blocked Google Drive so I can't access the spreadsheet :indiff:

I know I was initially one of the main advocates for starting the spreadsheet but I just don't have the time right now to maintain them. I apologise for that, if someone else wishes to try and update them I don't mind or when I get some time back I can get to them...for now though it's unlikely I'll get to them.
