This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock Seasonal Time Trials #36:

2WD Racing Car Super Lap: 8:40.000 - Nurburgring 24h - 630PP - RH

Non-Racing Car Super Lap: 1:17.000 - Mid-Field Raceway - 550PP - SH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Lap Time - Car (try to include manufacturer) - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then lap time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on lap time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best lap time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

Sorry for the delay. Just received and replaced my Blu-Ray drive today and tested it out with these time trials.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

630PP 2WD Race Car at Nurburgring 24h:
582PP
- 8:21.401 - Jaguar XJ13 '66 - RH - MR - 510hp - 998kg

Too easy; I will have to come back to this one with a lesser car.

540PP - 1:16.564 - Shelby Cobra 427 S/C Chrome Line - SH - FR - 492hp - 1045kg

The 5-speed tranny and racing suspension make a huge difference for the Cobra.

I tested these cars , starting from the lowest PP.

Seems I wasn't the only one trying out all these cars yesterday while waiting for the thread

Non-Racing Car Super Lap: 1:17.000 - Mid-Field Raceway - 550PP - SH

486PP
- 1'16.385 - Shelby Series One Super Charged '03 - SH - FR - 319bhp - 1202kg

I like this car so I gave it a few more laps than necessary!

Managed mid 17's with both the NSX and the Spirra, I thought the latter might have a shot if I could keep it pointing forward :scared: will try them again later today!

Gave the NSX and Spirra another go, that Spirra is going to murder me if I push any harder... :scared:

Spirra: 1'17.334 (lost around 2 tenths in T3, perhaps half a tenth in T2)
NSX: 1'17.284 (hundredths in T2 and that's about it)

Non-Racing Car Super Lap: 1:17.000 - Mid-Field Raceway - 550PP - SH

486PP
- 1:16.906 - Shelby Series One Super Charged '03 - SH - FR - 319bhp - 1202kg

It looks like there's no point in me trying anything lower than the Shelby and to be honest I didn't find that too easy. So...

512PP - 1:16.340 - Lamborghini Miura P400 Bertone ’67 - SH - MR - 349bhp - 980kg

510PP - 1:16.973 - Lamborghini Countach LP400 ’74 - SH - MR - 373bhp - 1065kg

The two raging bulls felt rather understeery here which was unexpected. Wasn’t too hard in the Miura but the Countach took a few attempts. I tried a few sub-500PP cars without much success. The best of the bunch so far was the Lotus Esprit Sport 350. My best was 0.4s off gold with what felt like a pretty good lap by my standards. Have I mentioned how much I like Mid-Field?

Edit -
496PP - 1:16.964 - Ferrari 365 GTB4 '71 - SH - FR - 374bhp - 1200kg
520PP - 1:15.609 - Ferrari GTO '84 - SH - MR - 393bhp - 1160kg

Apart from the Lotus the 365 is the only other sub 500PP car that I could get anywhere near with in a couple of laps. The GTO makes easy work of it although I came a cropper a couple of times before remembering that mash it and steer is not always appropriate.

2WD Racing Car Super Lap: 8:40.000 - Nurburgring 24h - 630PP - RH

591PP - 8:32.804 - Ferrari 330 P4 ’67 - RH - MR - 448bhp - 792kg

A brisk drive was enough so I'll have to try something a bit slower for a proper challenge. Got a gold time on my first attempt but DQ-ed for driving across someone's lawn so on the second go I knew I could take it easy and enjoy the ride.

I had some more goes at the Ring.

630PP 2WD Race Car at Nurburgring 24h:
535PP - 8:44.382 - Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe '64 - RH - FR - 384hp - 1043kg
526PP - 8:44.459 - Lotus Elise 111R Race Car '04 - RH - MR - 261hp - 720kg
541PP - 8:35.941 - Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe 15th Anniv '64 - RH - FR - 399hp - 1043kg

I just can't keep up to @MadMax in the Cobra ... except when I use the 15th anniversary edition with 15 extra hp. ;) I gave the Lotus a try and found while I could make up lots of time in the twisty sections, compared to the Cobra, I would lose all of it again in the straights.

Non-Racing Car Super Lap: 1:17.000 - Mid-Field Raceway - 550PP - SH

493PP
- 1:16.880 - Lotus Esprit Sport 350 '00 - SH - MR - 353bhp - 1300kg

I couldn't give up on this one after getting so close. It's so easy to drive at (and just beyond) the limit. Not quite drifting but it maintains grip at slip angles way beyond what you'd normally expect to get away with.
The Spirra on the other hand... Gave it a go just for a laugh but, fast and fun though it is, it has definite homicidal tendencies. I was still a good second and a half off when I managed to keep it pointing the right way for a lap.

516PP - 1:16.996 - Audi R8 4.2 FSI R tronic '07 - SH - 4WD - 414bhp - 1560kg

Very safe handling but if ever a car needed to shed a few pounds.

536PP - 1:16.959 - Shelby Cobra 427 '66 - SH - FR - 484bhp -1068kg

With a more than 150bhp advantage over its little supercharged brother you'd think this would be easy. But hitting the limiter half way down the main straight and bucket-loads of understeer and oversteer (any kind of steer you can think of except the one where it goes where you want it to) made it quite a challenge.

521PP - 1:13.919 - Ford GT40 Mark 1 '66 - SH - MR - 354bhp - 1000kg

The main challenge here was quitting to try a different car. Superb fun. Where have all those blue lines gone?

Suppose I should have another go at the ring.

@mcsqueegy

We should compare our T1 and T2 times, than we will know If there is room for
improvement with the NSX.
My best so far was a 1:17,276 ; T1: 24,273 ; T2: 47,373.

Mine with rounded sectors was a 24.229 and a 47.279, I knew I'd lost some in T3 but made a typo in my post above :dunce:

So that's one tenth, only 2 more to go

Yeah "only" 2 tenths.

Would be nice to know if there is anybody out there who could do it.

If you two guys can't do it between you then it's going to take a super-alien and I doubt they'll be following this thread. I'll tell you what, I'll declare it impossible. That usually does the trick.

630PP 2WD Race Car at Nurburgring 24h:

515PP
- 8'37.270 - Acura NSX LM Race Car '91 - RH - MR - 373bhp - 1045kg

The most difficult part was keeping it pointing the right way! Backed off massively in the final sector because I'd blown a similar lap just before it there :boggled:

Edit: going to try the Megane Trophy now...

2WD Racing Car Super Lap: 8:40.000 - Nurburgring 24h - 630PP - RH

553PP - 8:39.334 - BMW M3 GTR Race Car '01 - RH - FR - 443bhp - 1120kg

This seemed to be an appropriate car choice here. I was 7.5 seconds too slow on my first attempt and 8s up at the last checkpoint on the second try. Nerve-wracking braking for the last corner as I knew I'd nailed first time.

@mcsqueegy It's definitely possible, even for me, in the Anniversary Megane (526PP) so I reckon you will be able to do it in the normal version. Good luck.

630PP 2WD Race Car at Nurburgring 24h:

511PP
- 8'39.579 - Renault Megane Trophy '11 - RH - MR - 359bhp - 955kg

Finally finished a clean lap! Really good first half but the pressure got to me in some of the fast corners later on... a few sideways moments :scared:
