This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock Seasonal Time Trials #37:

Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe Super Lap: 1:16.000 - Big Willow - 550PP - RH

Front-Wheel Drive Non-Racing Car Super Lap: 2:25.000 - Ascari - 450PP - SH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Lap Time - Car (try to include manufacturer) - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then lap time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on lap time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best lap time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

550PP Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe at Big Willow:
535PP
- 1:15.361 - Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe '64 - RH - FR - 384hp - 1043kg
541PP - 1:14.596 - Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe 15th Anniv '64 - RH - FR - 399hp - 1043kg

PD this is by far one of your most inspired time trials in a while...though I might be biased. :D

450PP FF at Ascari:
I tried several of the highest PP cars and was not even close:
419PP - 2:35.457 - Honda Integra Type R (DC5) '04
440PP - 2:33.298 - Renault Sport Megane R.S. Trophy '11
447PP - 2:33.164 - Ford Focus ST 15th Anniv '13

Is there an eligible car with SH tires?

You've beaten my efforts so far:

550PP Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe at Big Willow:
535PP
- 1:15.854 - Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe '64 - RH - FR - 384hp - 1043kg

450PP FF at Ascari:
419PP - 2:36.203 - Honda Integra Type R (DC5) '04 - CS - FF - 216hp - 1180kg
435PP - 2:26.711 - Ford Focus RS '02 - SH - FF - 216HP - 1050kg

The only car I know of that is eligible and comes with SH tires is the 2002 Ford Focus RS (435PP/216 hp/1,050 kg). I haven't been able to get a clean lap yet.

Edit - Got a clean lap with the Focus, but not close to gold.

@Eggstor : Yep. Thanks. I do not usually buy ugly standard cars that only come in one awful color. I tried this one and it is definitely a winner here. I also had not noticed its weight:

450PP FF at Ascari:
435PP
- 2:24.431 - Ford Focus RS '02 - SH - FF - 216hp - 1050kg

Finally got the Focus to gold.

450PP FF at Ascari:
435PP
- 2:24.667 - Ford Focus RS '02 - SH - FF - 216hp - 1050kg

Did I mention I hate this track?

450PP FF at Ascari:

- 2:24.237 - Ford Focus RS '02 - SH - FF - 216hp - 1050kg

Well done for finding the Focus @Eggstor. I was thinking I'd have to admit defeat on this one.

550PP Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe at Big Willow:
535PP
- 1:15.838 - Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe '64 - RH - FR - 384hp - 1043kg

I only ran half a dozen laps in each car so there's room for improvement, but I'm not sure with only one car for each TT there's much incentive. I see @Hastatus has gone for the tuned option in the Shelby and I might follow suit. Maybe there's another contender for Ascari but if there is I can't find it. If I spent all week at it and did the drive of my life I can't see myself getting within 5s of gold on CS.

Front-Wheel Drive Non-Racing Car Super Lap: 2:25.000 - Ascari - 450PP - SH
435PP - 2:23.309- Ford Focus RS '02 - SH - FF - 216hp - 1050kg

I tried other FF's , but couldn't get near silver..

I guess that's about it then. Unless we can find a way to spice it up. How about the Shelby on sports tyres? Too optimistic?

Probably too optimistic for me, even if I used the 15th Anniversary edition.

After @Hastatus asked whether there was an eligible car that had SH tires, I remembered I had the Focus for some reason, and I noticed that it had both SH and CS tires. Since I couldn't remember which was stock (and because it had an oil change), I burned the cash to buy another one, and found out it had SH tires.

I was surprised there was that much difference between CS and SH tires.

This one's a bit too tricky for stock cars... best non-Focus time for me was a 2'27.8 in the VW Scirocco :boggled: too bad it doesn't have sports tyres!

1m15.691 ABS=0

For some reason I looked in the 'other' time trial thread - and read a few posts about needing a tune for this... (When will I learn eh?!)

Glad I peeked here before I ran the car.

Car felt very planted ... but I think It needed more ballast - after I found my GT6 wallet was light to the tune of 2,742,200 Kazulas

752,800 in winnings
3,500,000 in car
5,000 in paint (Starmist Crimson - You get a dark shade of red and black "white bits" so the white roundels (Where the numbers get stuck on for races) really stand out.

Off to get a fun FF car...

Is it me or is the vegetation at Willow Springs a bit bigger than before? I half expect a few barrel cacti to have popped up next event.

---------------
Got the Focus - Imperial Blue... Typical Ford - Any colour you want so long as it is...

Spray and Pay had only two options in my head.
Mitsu-stiggi FTO's Imperial Red - or the Lotus Carlton in a pukka shade of British Racing Green - Imperial Green Metallic.

This where I prove that big legs and short arms counts against me being a one lap wonder.

5 laps- and I seemed to have fouled each of them. But looking at the ghosts I was only looking at getting a 1m25.5 at best jumping over curbs and other filthy stuff.

Car sounds awful. (Off to Silverstun to earn some of the cash that Shelby just slurped out of my wallet.)

- best bit of the event was getting the paint chip!

Tried it on SS and did a 17.5, less than perfect. I can see a low 17, maybe even high 16 for me and there are plenty of people who can beat me by a second so I reckon it's possible. Went over to the dark side, borrowed a tune and tweaked it and did a 12.3. I found that the more downforce I added the faster it went and ended up at max front and rear. But the character of the car was gone. It just felt like any other FR race car and at 550PP it just wasn't fast enough for that on the edge excitement. And so back to stock.
