This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock Seasonal Time Trials #39:

Non-Racing Car and Tuned Car Super Lap: 1:27.000 - SS Route 5 - 580PP - SS

Formula Gran Turismo Super Lap: 1:40.000 - Silverstone Grand Prix - 880PP - RH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Lap Time - Car (try to include manufacturer) - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then lap time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on lap time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best lap time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

Looks like PD has duplicated the event from last August with the only difference being you need 1 second faster for gold. Some of you will not need to bother redoing this event...alas I was 1:40.xxx last time and had to go out on the black ice again. :scared:

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

580PP at SS Route 5:
566PP
- 1:26.463 - KTM X-BOW R 15th Anniv '12 - SH - MR - 320hp - 790kg

Obviously this so-called non-race car, non-tuner car is an easy win. I tried several lower PP cars from Shelby, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Ford, and was several seconds off.

880PP FGT at Silverstone Grand Prix:
880PP
- 1:39.458 - Formula Grand Turismo - RH - MR - 891hp - 550kg

880PP FGT at Silverstone Grand Prix:
880PP
- 1m39.367 - Formula Grand Turismo - RH - MR - 891hp - 550kg

fgt silva stun

10 laps

Car was a wild old beast - low speed wheelspin was a real issue for me, the more steering lock the worse the effect took me a fair old time to control the beast.

Managed to do a nice steady banker lap of 1m44.7 - then on my next lap I was all bubbly as the delta times were all good - easy gold - don't stuff it up! I eased off the pace and posted a neat 1m42.3 or something.... Silver.

Silver?
but the target time was 1m44... wasn't it?

I'd obviously misread the gold target time.

In a grump, I left the circuit to do some "What would Kimi do?" type of thinking

After the pub shut ...

I returned back how hard can it be to get a 880pp Formula GT with No Traction control or ABS to do a sub 100 seconds lap of Silvy??

Pretty hard - as it should be. The peaky rev range made my ham fisted corner exits a smokey surrender to any sort of speed onto the follow striaght - The good news was the brake bias was set so far forward I would have already overheated the fronts by the time I got to the turn in point.

That said - once I calmed down and just drove what I had and didn't try to make up all the time in a single corner it went better. Still felt bloody awful clobbering apex curbs in 5th gear at 50mph. But at least I was able to get some traction on corner exit by being so low in the powerband.

Anyhow big long lap - lots of places to lose time, but the stock car has Gold in it. You just need to lose less time in each corner. Nice and smooth.

Normally I'd quite like to run a car in a normal event in ASpec mode, but the FGT is Illegal in every GT6 race.

(I used the Dark Green and Gold "Brabham of the 1960's" Formula GT livery.)

Ah man... I wasn't aware that the FGT would be included in this Stock Seasonal. I was so close to stock on that one! If I go back and reset the gearbox and the downforce that I changed, will the same car still qualify, or do I need to buy a second FGT? (would be fine, as I don't like the livery of the one I have anyway lol)

As long as you haven't changed the oil just reset everything back to default or select another tuning tab and you're back to stock.

SS Route 5:
Not knowing what to expect I picked out the Buick Special for my first go. Mainly because I don't think I've ever seen it appear in the eligible cars before. Anyway I'd never driven it. Nice enough car really. Better handling than I was expecting and got a bronze. But it's a bit of a boat so I went for what I thought would be an easy winner, the 458 Italia....and got a bronze. Next up was a Murcielago SuperVeloce which got me silver but wasn't ever going to get me gold. Car search turned up the Aston One-77 at max PP, and which I remember hating at the Goodwood hill-climb. Bought it thinking it might be better on a bigger road but no, I still hated it. Got near to silver and would have got there with a bit more time but it would have been a chore.
So, time for the Tommy. Felt so much better than the Aston and after a few laps got my time down to 1:27.032 but then wasn't improving so took a break, thinking I'd soon knock off a gold after dinner. Just spent the last hour at it and my best time was 1:27.034.:banghead:

The SSR5 event is for sport soft tires and you can use tuned cars, so it's very easy. :sly:

513pp - 1:24,914 - RE Amemiya FD3S RX-7 - SS - FR - 273kW - 1240kg

Well that makes it a lot easier. It took me a lot less than an hour to get gold in the Amemiya, but I'm not giving up on the Tommy just yet.

Edit-

580PP at SS Route 5:
572PP
- 1:26.473 - Tommykaira ZZII '00 - SH - MR - 542bhp - 1000kg

After struggling for ages trying to find a few hundredths I suddenly find half a second. Don't know where that came from.

560PP - 1:25.853 - Amuse S2000 GT1 '04 - SS - FR - ???bhp - 1180kg

There don't seem to be many cars capable of a gold time but this one makes it very easy.

Just had a go with the Amuse NISMO 380RS (502pp) and did a 1:27,277.

Not sure if i can go below 1:27, maybe it's the same like the NSX at Midfield. :scared:

Polarized-006... and 380,000 credits.

After the Tomahawk this felt like I was driving a Freightliner cab-over truck. Yet I know this car is a neat low fast sleek sporty car. The grip felt a bit puddingy as well. Probably just over working the tyres and creating my own brand of understeer. Still after I messed up my first lap (The tight 180° hairpin in sector 2 - Braking point? What braking point!) Managed to set the above time - feeling very off the pace ... when I forget my GT mates all drive none stock... I really need to either turn off the tell tale lines or put in a lap sooner.

I wonder if the Carbon R can beat the time? Or is that a greasy mess of zero grip like it was back in GT4?

My first thought was if you are struggling there's not much point in me even trying but I couldn't resist. Sure enough I was a good second slower. It took me a few laps to get used to just how much grip there is. You can just floor it so early and it's almost impossible to get it to break away.

Ryk

I was wondering the same myself. It was always a great drifter's car, whether you wanted to drift or not. I'll give it a go.

555PP
- 1:25.644 - Amuse Carbon R (R34) '04 - SS - FR - 594bhp - 1123kg

Not too bad actually. Got a massive drift on in the first corner before the start of the first lap which taught me a bit of respect. Lots of 3/4 throttle and short-shifting needed to keep the back end in check but it goes pretty quickly when you get the hang of it. I don't understand why it's lower PP than the S2000. It's got a lot more power and not much more weight. Do they give points for being easy to control?

Edit - My mistake. It's lighter than the S2000 too.

522PP - 1:26.894 - Pozzi MotorSports Camaro RS - SS - FR - 482bhp - 1487kg

Not bad for a girl's car*. Actually it's very good indeed. Great fun to drive and looks lovely in the replay. In comparison the Mustang Trans-Cammer, a real man's car if there ever was one, looking like something Mad Max** would drive, turns out to be a lot of macho bluster. The gearing's all wrong for this track, second is a bit short and fifth is very, very long. 160mph at the end of the straight and it's barely out of tick-over. Lots of power and lots of weight rarely make for a pleasant drive for me and the Mustang has more than enough of both. It's probably got a gold in it but I lost patience with it.

* Ironic sexist remark.
**The Aussie outlaw, not our MadMax.

880PP FGT at Silverstone Grand Prix:
880PP
- 1m39.xxx - Formula Grand Turismo - RH - MR - 891hp - 550kg

Surprisingly only took 4 laps to gold it so I decided to stop being a wet blanket and have a go without abs. 10 laps later and Vale had a lovely pattern of black stripes across it but I was almost there, only a couple of tenths off. I'll return to this after I'm inspired by Kimi's forthcoming victory at the weekend.
