This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock Seasonal Time Trials #42:

Non-Racing Car Super Lap: 1:12.000 - Grand Valley East - 500PP - SH

NASCAR Stock Car Time Trial: 1:11.000 - Mid-Field - 627PP - RH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Lap Time - Car (try to include manufacturer) - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then lap time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on lap time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best lap time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

500PP at Grand Valley East:
486PP - 1:10.204 - Shelby Series One Super Charged '03 - SH - FR - 319hp - 1202kg
466PP - 1:11.791 - Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A (FD) '02 - SH - FR - 292hp - 1270kg

The Shelby was easy; the Mazda took much more effort.

627PP NASCAR Stock Car at Mid-Field:
620PP
- 1:09.840 - Toyota 2013 Denny Hamlin #11 CAMRY - RH - FR - 849hp - 1565kg

Easy gold with the 440pp 111R, i don't think there is any lower pp car which could do it.

500PP at Grand Valley East:
440PP - 1:11.943 - Lotus Elise 111R '04 - SH - MR - 184hp - 960kg

One man's easy is another's challenging. But then @Ed_Night is top of the leaderboard 👍 so I don't feel too bad about that. The next one down is probably the NSX '90 at 439PP but I was 2 seconds off gold in that. There's no way I could find that 2s but I'd hesitate to say it's impossible.

@Hastatus I assume your Shelby wasn't really on RH and it's just a typo.

I tested the NSX '90 and did 1:12,979, but no chance to find another second.

Another good car is the 437pp Toyota FT-86 Concept '09 (1:12,645), but there is also no way to get it under 1:12.

500PP at Grand Valley East

468PP - 1m11.646 - Honda NSX Type R '02 - SH - MR - 290hp - 1270kg

I had just used this in a test verses the RX-7 Type A Spirit R, And I enjoyed the drive of the Honda and felt a bit guilty for saying it was inferior to the RX-7 just down to the lack of pop up headlamps.

Took me three laps to find the sweet spot. Probably got more in it. But I don't enjoy repeating Time trials at the best of times.

the paint chip is a bit... lacking - sort of a purple/grey/lavender job... Not quite Bay Leaf Green.

627PP NASCAR Stock Car at Mid-Field:
620PP
- 1:09.860 - Ford #43 Richard Petty - RH - FR - 849hp - 1565kg

Okay it isn't The King but the colours are his. Enjoyed the loose back end on cold tyres, Took a steady first lap that was much closer to a Gold Cup than any sighter lap deserves to be. I then banged in a safe 2nd lap that was hardly pushing the limits. Could well be the trick not to drive that hard, just nail the corner exits, which I have to say I was very restrained with and I didn't light up the rears like a total Redneck. I even had a bit of unexpected sideways action up the hill on the final stretch, but on warmed up tyres the car is almost placid.

I did cheat, I dipped my headlamps... That must have saved me time and confused the poor guy having to apply my stick on headlamps.

627PP NASCAR Stock Car at Mid-Field:
620PP
- 1:09.273 - 2013 Jeff Gordon #24 Chevrolet SS - RH - FR - 849hp - 1565kg

Mid-Field seems tiny when you've got 850hp and racing tyres. Easy second lap gold then did a few more till I got bored. As there's no option for a lower PP car it's got to be lesser tyres. I'd never driven NASCAR car on sports tyres before but it makes it far more fun. There's still plenty of grip for a gold time on SS and I got close on SM (maybe if I'd dipped the headlights) but it was getting a bit too slippery. @Ryk - If you like cold tyres you'll love sport softs.

500PP at Grand Valley East:
499PP
- 1:09.820 - RUF RGT '00 - SH - RR - 380hp - 1330kg

493PP - 1:11.039 - RUF BTR '86 - SH - RR - 369hp - 1180kg

470PP - 1:11.945 - RUF 3400S '00 - SH - MR - 305hp - 1300kg

As Ed has confirmed that nothing below the Elise is going to cut it, the only way is up. I'd driven all three RUFs before but never paid them that much attention so now seemed like a good time to get to know them. All great cars but in completely different ways.
RGT - Lovely balanced car. Loose in the hindquarters but in a controllable manner. You can drift it, pendulum like a Finnish rally driver, have all sorts of fun and still go quite quickly with no real danger of losing it.
BTR - A lot more tricky. Had to go into Stratos mode here. Try to keep it tidy, brake in a straight line, and avoid any sideways stuff, which is hard because it's not keen on pointing forwards. Whereas the RGT will power out of a slide this one will just light up the tyres and send you spinning. Great fun.
3400S - Very tame compared to the other two, but a capable little sports car. Took a fair few laps to scrape a gold though.

Edit-
Next job was to try to find something between the Elise and the 466P RX-7 Spirit R Type A (FD) '02. This one worked very nicely...

462PP
- 1:11.258 - Honda NSX-R Concept '01 - SH - MR - 285hp - 1270kg

This one didn't..
460PP - 1:12.9xx - Lotus Evora '09 - SH - MR - 277hp - 1330kg

It's a nice car in many ways but the transmission is hopeless, for this track at least. Always seemed to be hitting the limiter or bogging down. At the end of the straight it's doing 135mph+ and still 1k from the red-line in fourth gear, with another two gears to go. Sixth is basically overdrive and doesn't give you any more top speed. With a custom gearbox it would be a doddle but as it is - it could possibly just about do it but it's such a chore to drive.

And just for fun...
481PP
- 1:11.387 - Ferrari 512 BB '76 - SH - MR - 354hp - 1400kg
