Stock settings vs. default full race suspension settings

I'm just curious... Are the settings of stock suspension and the default values of the full race suspension the same until you modify? Or is the full race suspension stiffer than stock?

This has been covered before, but would most likely not be an easy one to find.

In answer to you question, with every car I have tested and tuned the default suspension settings get firmer as you upgrade the suspension.

So default on 'Sports' is firmer than 'Stock', the default on 'Semi-Racing' is firmer than 'Sports', and the default on 'Racing' is Firmer than 'Semi-Racing'.

'Original' suspension (from the tuners village) is firmer than 'Semi-Racing' in most cases and on a par with 'Racing', but the range of useable values does differ between the two (and you can't set bound and rebound seperatly with Original suspension).

Yes, i searched but did not find...

The reason I ask is that I find it fun to make updated versions of cars in GT4 and compare it to the original... the car in questions being the DB9. Aston Martin recently created a sports pack (and now a true 6-Speed manual as well!) for the DB9 which includes 68% firmer dampers in front, and 64% firmer dampers in back... basically I have a lot of hard facts about what was changed over when the sport pack was created... but i have no baseline to start with, and don't know what the stock settings are. :(

Thanks for the insight though, and btw I read both of your tuning guides front to back... Top notch stuff!

Glad to hear you found them interesting (the guides), always good to hear.

I do quite agree that it is a pain not being able to view the default setting values, IIRC the original Gran Turismo allowed you to see the actual default values, just not change them.

Fingers crossed for GT5 on that one.
