Strange gear bug

Hello

I just started a new game on GT4, and have been playing for a couple of days. Suddenly, when doing the A-lisence, the gearing got messed up. I had to chenage gear manually, but could only do so with L2. When the meter was on red I could gear up, and I had to go under 3000 RPM or something, and then I could gear down with the same button.

And now the problem won't go away. Doesn't matter if I have automatic or manual gearing, I still have to gear up and down with L2. It's even spread to the Arcade Mode. And even when I make a new Memory Card (I'm playing on PS3), and start a brand new game, the problem is still there!! Utterly frustrating!

Tried to google the problem, but couldn't find anything about it. Can anyone help me?

It's the same wether it's in manual or automatic, switch back and forward about two thousand times. Also checked the button configs, and nothings wrong. Changed the gearing down button and the select button, and the same problem was there, only now I had to gear up and down with the select button.

It seems like the manual gear system is in for good, but it doesn't change when it's supposed to, you have to do that yourself, with the gearing down button. Just mindblowingly strange.

Maybe you have auto on, and your holding the gearshift button. That causes it to stay in that gear.

As I've said, I've turned automatic off and on several times, doesn't make a difference.. And also, you gear up with the L2, but only when the RPM-meter is in the red. Just totally strange

Well, theres not much to see, really.. Looks just like normal manual gearing, except you can only gear when the RPM-meter is at certain places (in the red for gearing up, very low for gearing down), and you gear both up and down with L2. It's the strangest thing I've ever encountered in a game ever. It just doens't make any sense, nothing helps.

It just seems the PS3 has altered the game CD or DVD, or whatever, itself! I want to hack the thing.. With an axe..

I had my PS2 changing gears at random times, but that was a problem with a bodgy DS2 lead. I presume you're using the wireless controller?

This. I just had to blow the dust out of my connectors and it was fine, doesn't explain why you'd have to manually change gears though. If you're using a DS2, try a different one? If not, do the usual: Try other copies, try your copy in other PS2's/3's, try different controllers.

The controller is fine, works fine in other games.

And a controller issue wouldn't explain why you are also gearing UP with the L2 button, and only when the RPM-meter is at certain levels.

Well, it just went away for some reason, things are working as normal. It did come back, though, but then dissapeared after about 2 minutes.. Very strange

Maybe it was was certain bit's of the disk? Have you tried going back to what you were doing before and seeing if its still there?

- Very interested in finding out how this happened :D

The thing is, the bug was there all the time, even in arcade mode, didn't matter what race you chose. Now suddenly, it's just gone away for good.
