gt4 is pretty simple to advance through - and such a joy. but now i think it would be good to try to get through the game with some severe limitations, making it all even more fun to play. so here are the rules.

ONLY USE GERMAN CARS

exceptions:
- licences & missions
- buy and race a pickup car and a minicar (lupo's too big) to get through beginner hall

you have guessed that i am a german car adept. they are all well-built, predictable and fun to drive.

SO:
1. start a new game
2. get through licences asap in any medal color
3. win beginner and professional race series in (german) cars you have won
4. find other races you can win by using german cars (there are a lot)
5. keep posting your percentages in the forum

it is allowed - recommended even - to use published setups, eg from gtvault.

please let me know if you're on.

This might be a good idea for the write-ups/race reports forum. A continual thread, much like Roadhazzard's GT3 run. You could document each and every step through the whole process, and your resutls.

My other suggestion would be to create a Long race series where others could join in on the scenario. Simply document your choice for the selected race, and invite others to compare.

Good luck.

I moved it for you.

As a long time Porsche and RUF lover, I'm looking forward to this report. Good luck.

after a few weeks (with lots of work and limited time to play) i have progressed to 24% with 35 german cars in the box. all non german cars are sold. this limited attempt has some minor difficulties (race cars are definitely slower) but is challenging and fun. i use the german dtm race for quick cash. still no one interested :indiff: ?

UPDATE 291205: finally reached 25% so now i can do the endurances. i'm halfway the 79 cars i must collect in the german garage. pity the merc clk gtr performs so meager. i will try the bmw lmr to see if it behaves better in the gt races.
UPDATE 311205: 30% and letting bob work through the endurances. 45 cars in the box. the bmw lmr is ten times better than the merc. now running the le mans 24h so i get the a8.
UPDATE 020106: 32% and all cars but one (opel calibra - hate the speedster) in the box. that's one part of my challenge accomplished. i sort of cheated by buying the c9 from my other 96% game. next are the special conditions of which some i don't fancy (canyon ...) but got to do anyway.
UPDATE 040106: 36% and all 80 cars in the box (traded the calibra from my other game). races left to run: all normal and hard special condition races but a few, opel speedster race, 2 x 24h endurances and one or two extremes. it looks like i will only make it to about the 50% mark.
UPDATE 080106: 45% and slowly progressing through the special conditions. all endurances but le mans 2 are done (except for the mx5 one which i may not run) and all extremes but the f1/c9 challenge. the rs4 is a revelation on dirt and snow; much more steerable than the ctr2 or the pikes peak.
UPDATE 130106: 51% and counting down. getting a picture of what % can be reached. i think i'll skip the f1 race and missions so all that's left are some special conditions and the le mans II race. allmost there ...

FINAL UPDATE: i reached 51.7% and will stop now. if you are better than me (and less lazy) you get a higher % doing the f1 challenge, grand canyon hard and all missions. i really liked this exercise only using german cars. i wonder i anyone would do the same challenge only using cars from another country, or even only using one brand or one car. statistics: day 840 - a spec points 3287 / 1695 km - 16m cr. - 368 trophies - b-spec 7729 points / 29441 km - 92=78=76

:dopey: Excellent work dude!

I've wanted to do this for some time but thought I wouldn't get far with so much restriction using German cars only.

Now I know you can complete 50% of the game I will give it a crack.

Thanks again

as you might have read you can do over 50% but you have to cheat a bit in the beginner/prof races (forgot) in order to advance through all the others. you need a boxer (non german) and a pickup (non german) to win them all.
but good luck to you, and please let me know how you advance!
the germies are all great cars to use in the game and out.

The Ruf's have Boxer engines, it's just the pickup you need a truck to allow you to progress. But The Ruf's have boxer engines.

you're right live, but there was another class of cars needed that the germans dont have.
sorry for the confusion.
