Thought i would set myself a challenge today to build a car for less than 100,000 to do the nurburgring in under 7minutes 40 seconds, quick look through and i decided on using a grey 2004 BMW M3 and then discovered i could have picked other cars such as R34's,Evos etc but i have chosen the M3 and decided to stick with it.That cost £74,560 which left £25,440 for mods,at this point i made a couple of rules that i couldnt upgrade the tyre, suspension and no high power n/a mods,so i went with a Racing brake kit, chip, racing exhaust,(took power from 344 to 363)triple clutch, racing fly and stage 2 weight reduction.
Decided to take it round the track to see how fast it would go round stock and set a solid time of 8mins flat,so only 20 seconds to find.
Added on the stage 2 weight loss and the car didnt seem that much fast than standard but came back with the lap time of 7:51 which i was impressed with 👍 ,good only 11seconds to make up on plus ill have the power mods.
so on goes the exhaust and chip and straight away the car feels more powerful and stronger and the rear of the car starts sliding alot more,by the first hairpin i was 1.7 seconds up on my time and by the karussel i was 4.3 seconds up and heading down the back straight it hit 171mph where as standard hit 162mph,started heavy braking for the last few corners and the car felt really nervious and twitchy like the back could fishtail at any moment but kept it together and across the line in....................7:41 .
felt confused by that cause i felt i drove the car as quick and smoothly as i could and i didnt make any real mistakes on the lap which would somehow make up just over a second so only other idea i could think of was to drive the car alot more agressively so off i went and drove the wheels off the car as hard as i could, but the later i braked the more the ghost car was pulling away out of the corners so just stuck to trying to keep up with it coming up to the last set of corners again after the back straight i held on alot longer before i brake, right to the last second and this time, because i was braking much harder, the car didnt like it at all and start squrming but managed to line it up perfectly for the exit out of huhenrgin(sp)and then onto the start/finish line and got a 7:39.685
pleased with that and done my challenge for the day
have set myself another challenge for over the weekend and that is to buy and mod a car for less than 30k to go round in under 7:50 so watch this space
