Hey guys, just want to hear your opinions to one of the upcoming DLC cars, the Subaru BR-Z S '12.

I know the Scion FR-S and Toyota GT86 (which both run on a 4U-GSE motor) were very much similar in GT5, as they are in real life, but I wanted to see if you guys think there would be any differences performance/handling wise to the BR-Z because in real life, it runs on a Subaru FA20 motor and supposedly has a different suspension setup.

Any opinions can be posted other than performance and/or handling opinions.

I don't care what the differences are, it's basically the same car. They have no business charging for a car that we already have 2 iterations of, that we got for free.

I know it's only 99p or whatever, but it's the principal.

I'd love differences, better ones too. It doesn't matter if they were free or had a fee. Scion and Toyota are similar and close manufacturers and Subaru isn't. In my opinion, PD wouldn't make three of basically the same car for no reason.

S2000's? Skylines? Miata's? Need I go on?

That's true, but would they make such a hassle to make 3 separate DLC's for brand new cars and do the same thing? It doesn't matter if they had plenty of Skylines, Miatas or S2Ks, they all had some type of difference for sure. PD wouldn't duplicate the same car over and over again to make over 1000 cars.

Wrong, that's exactly what they have done.

Don't get me wrong, I like the GT-R an the Honda, and I'm glad the BR-Z is in the game. It just should have been free.

Different engine code, but it's the exact same engine. Difference are:

- Front bumper
- Interior
- Badging
- Spring rates

Would you work for free? :odd:

Guess I never realized that they were the same engines, but at least a suspension difference is good.

Because, when you are a company the size of PD, making the revenue that they make, when you release a car as a free download, it's not that you have worked for nothing, it's called showing your fan-base appreciation.

I have no argument in paying for the GT-R (although I should) or the Honda, but when the differences are as slight as suspension setup then that really is taking the p***.

Look at it this way... Didn't we already get the other two for free?

The work for free argument is awful, with that attitude the idea of free samples, special offers and complimentary products wouldn't exist.

Or in other words just because a company gives things away doesn't mean they work for free, it means the free stuff is subsided elsewhere.

I doubt we'd be able to differentiate the difference in motor (probably just sound), but the difference in suspension is not that big of deal either to be honest. Unless this game has no option for tuning, where we are forced to run everything stock I don't see any real point on it. Yes, there's a difference, but how big of a difference is it? We could probably tune the previous two version to drive like this BRZ.

Exactly.

I like to think that Companies do what's best for them, not us. Benefits we get, even if it's free, has to be beneficial to the company in some way. It doesn't have to be direct money. Otherwise, it's not "business."

Thank you.

@eric yeah we did get the other two for free. But why? Surely if they were going to charge it should be for them all, a brand new car that has never been in the game before, a duplicate of said car for free. Then charge for a car that differs slightly from them. It's madness.

I guess I was mistaken on the suspension part. Even an exhaust sound would be nice for a change, but I really doubt it would be great if there was an exhaust sound difference. That's another thing I hope will be better in GT6.

It's laughable that the "it's not free" argument is over a single dollar.

Again, nobody is forcing you to purchase it. If you don't want it, don't buy it. If $1 is going to break your wallet, you're worse off than me.

I already said its not the money. I can stretch to a quid, don't worry.

It just bothers me that PD can churn out something as near as dammit, exactly the same as two other cars we already got for free and then charge us for it

This thread
Sucks that its a dollar but unless your broke, it shouldnt be a problem. Ima get just so I can be "Ballin"
👍

Different sound system, and a lot more features added to the BRZ limited edition w/c are not available in FR-S: fog lights, rear spoiler, keyless entry, dual climate control, heated seats, alcantra leather seats, etc. Of course none of this matter to the game. But I'm just glad my car IRL is again represented in GT5. Now I can take drifting pics of my car without drifting IRL. Tyvm pd.

The weight of the 86 and the BRZ are the same, the power's the same, dimensions the same, the BRZ has wider (215mm), 17" alloys instead of the 205mm wide 16" rims of the 86.. Only major difference that cant be tuned into the 86...

I would just love one with a new engine that I can drift! The FRS+GT86 just completely die in gear 3, which just makes it un-driftable. Will hop on GT iab and try some extreme tuning to try and get it working for me!

Something I've noticed too!

Hopefully it works, I've always wanted to drift one of the three since the GT86 came out, let's see what the BRZ has to bring us! :)

nealcropper why are u so angry on BR-Z ? ;))
I will buy it and be happy, that we have all 3 cars and we can compare those ;)
