Autoweek:

Not for U.S. Sale
The hottest STI ever hits Japanese market

Subaru will make just 600 copies of the newly released Impreza STI S204, all for the Japanese market.

Building on the success of last year’s S203, Subaru’s newly released $41,900 Impreza STI S204 gets a fully balanced and blueprinted 2.0-liter flat-four boosted by a larger twin-scroll turbocharger for a 320-hp punch and an impressively smooth power delivery across the powerband.

The exterior differentiates itself from run-of-the-mill Imprezas thanks to a carbon front splitter, rear spoiler and 18-inch BBS alloy wheels. The Pirelli PZero Corsa System offers tremendous levels of grip and hints at Subaru’s continuing tie with the Italian tiremaker in the 2006 World Rally Championship. The interior features carbon Recaro reclining racing seats.

I can't find any better pictures, but it looks pretty sweet.

I wasn't sure I like the front of the car with the nose grille around the logo, but damn that model does look very sexy indeed. Japanese exclusive.... hmmmm. shame

I think I'm starting to come around on the Subaru corprate grille. That car looks awsome, especially with the splitter.

As for the grille, I guess I was just turned off from it since I first saw it on the godawful Tribeca. Really bad first impression.

Sweet! I've always loved the Impreza, and this one is pretty sweet! Though I'm a bit dissappointed it's not for U.S. sale.

Thats pretty cool, I suppose, and its nice to see that a true rally-spec 2.0L can outdo the US-spec model. If it werent for the Evolution or the R32 (VW), Im sure Id be all over this car.

I think I'm starting to come around on the Subaru corprate grille.

Not me, it's 100% ruined any love I have for Sub's. The 22b is still my favorite WRX--and Subaru has slowly killed it ever since they *cough* updated the styling. :indiff:

Hate the grille, love the rest, especially in the case of the Type RA.
Rally version doesn't look that bad, but in street form, its aweful.

Amemiya... you say "I just died" to the Chrysler Voyager and the Chevrolet Epica, but say THIS is lovely? Splash some water into your eyes, man!

It was a tough adjustment, but I got to liking the Impreza's new design up front. As for this model, it does mean business with the fog lights hiding. I still liked the Subaru face up front before the B9 Tribeca came to town. I love and respect Subaru for their all-wheel drive range, but I'm not real fond of the latest face. Speaking of the latest Impreza, I haven't seen too many of the newer models around Houston. I think Subaru needs to reconsider this front for the Impreza, homage to an airplane company or not.

I still think it loads better when it's lower with wider arches.

Alas, a road going rally car wasn't meant to look like that. Still pretty good looking though, and I wonder how many will be exported.
