Suitable races for certain cars?

Howdy folks. Long time lurker, first time poster here. First up I want to praise the site and the staggering volume of useful info here! (I never realised that race cars were subdivided into so many classes...)

Anyway, I'm a reasonably good (not great) driver at this game and a while back I crossed the tipping point where I can rake in scads of money relatively easily. I can blitz the DTM series with any car for example, but I find the top notch Le Mans cars (the R8 or the Minolta for examples) too difficult to keep on track consistently enough to be competitive.

My point (and my question) relates to a large number of cars that fall in between these two levels, for example a Gillet or a Chapperal. Or many others too. I can't find any decent races to enter these cars in. Is it the case that there are some cars that are just designed to look good in your garage, with perhaps just the odd trip out to a Family Cup race for low stakes?

I couldn't find anything on the site here, but is there a list or a database advising which races might be suitbale for the various cars? If there is, then I apologise for the unecessary post (although I'd appreciate a link before y'all go locking it down) :dopey:

i understand your question, and yes there seem to be a limited number of races for these cars, but you are not out of luck my friend. often, some of these cars can be entered in the one-make races in the make's showroom. another place would probably be the country races, like american events, european events and such. there are also some tarmac rally races that i have used some of those cars in. hope i helped a little! 👍

Oh yeah. Watch out for him. ^ ;)

I tend to find that there's a race for most of my cars, but they (the races) end up boring and one sided.

Thanks for the replies and the advice folks, much appreciated!

I tried taking my Gillet into the rally environment, but I think I chose a poor track - Paris is too angular and twisty and I kept smacking the barrier and losing five seconds a pop. Not terribly fun in this particular instance, but I can see this being a fruitful line of pursuit for me.

I'll have a look at these 200 point races too, although I doubt I have the ability to manage even an 'easy' 200 point race!

With over 700 cars I'm sure it is understandable why there may be a few cars that are hard to find races with a field of AI cars that it can compete with evenly, but it can be done. Especially when you can significantly improve a cars performance by modifying and tuning it, while at the same time you can also significantly lower a cars performance by using low grip tires, adding weight, and using old oil. You can also reset AI fields so that the best AI car for any given selected five performs close to your cars level.

So while some cars in stock default form may not have obvious well-matched races to enter, I think given some time and effort you can accomplish this.

I much prefer really good close racing, so I purposefully spent a lot of time getting to know the AI competition and how they perform in each race so that I can easily select a car that will perform at the same level of the best AI of any given selected field.
