[As always, if anyone would like to volunteer to take a picture, it will go here :)]
Thank you once again, Denur!

Race Specifics

  • Arcade Mode Time Trial - hotlap
  • Power: 0% (750 HP)
  • Weight: -10% (1305 kg)
  • Tire Type: S3
  • Driving aids, transmission mode, and top speed setting are open.
  • Standard OLR cleanliness rules apply: Two wheels must be in contact with the track at all times; rumble strips are part of the track; no contact with walls allowed at any time. The following areas are not part of the track: All concrete; the black runoff before the first turn; and all tarmac beyond the white lines on the inside before the first turn (your replay will be "broken" if you put four wheels on this area, anyway).
  • Please PM me your final time by Tuesday July 14 by 11:59 pm GMT (world clock).

Series General Rules

  • All six races will be run in Arcade Mode, using a variety of the fastest road cars in the game (including some tuned and concept cars; also, most cars will have stock power and -10% weight), and each will last one week, with a submission deadline of Tuesday.
  • Standard OLR cleanliness rules apply: Two wheels must be in contact with the track at all times; rumble strips are part of the track; no contact with walls allowed at any time.
  • Discussion of times in the race thread during the week will be limited to split times (T1, T2, T3). Final times are not to be discussed and must be submitted to me by PM before the week's deadline.
  • Please save your best lap replay in case I request proof, which is unlikely but possible. Unlike last series, since there were no problems, I will not require photo proof of the winner. However, I reserve the right to request a photo of a time if I am suspicious of it.
  • Each race will award points towards the overall championship standings to all who submit a clean lap/race time, with the winner receiving 10 points, second place 8, third place 6, and fourth on down each separated by 1 point (5, 4, 3, etc.). No points will be awarded to a non-submitting driver. You do not have to announce your participation in the championship beforehand: anyone may participate in a race and be counted into the championship points, even if you do not plan on running all the races; similarly, there is no obligation to participate in every race. The driver with the most points at the end of the six races will win the championship.

Laguna Seca is a track that is meant primarily for race cars, and in my opinion, those are the only kind that suit it. Thus, this week, we will be using about the closest car to a race car that doesn't use racing tires, and putting on the softest tires possible. As long as you remember that this thing is heavy and still uses sports tires, you should find it easy to carve through this track's corners, owing partly to the significant downforce. Note that the car's transmission is adjustable and that you may adjust it, and remember not to stray too far to the inside on the first left-hand jog on the track. Finally, I hope that you enjoy listening to the engine sound. Have fun! :)

Looks like a fun combo! 👍

New to the series, but I think I'll try out the last two races, and see what I get. I was going to go for Round 4, before realising I hadn't bought the Zonda, so it wasn't unlocked. :ouch:

Anyway, going to go and do a few laps now, see where I get. :)

What you can do next time is go to the dealer buy the car but "DO NOT GET INTO THE CAR"
It will still be unlock on arcade.
You will have to do it again next time you want to play but it is easy to do and you don't waste your credits.
Welcome to the series

Wish I had known that a year ago before I started the DTM races for easy cash with B Spec Bob. Now I have 30,000,000 credits and all the cool cars have been won. LOL. Unless I want to buy the 20 versions of the Skyline, etc. Still have a few left when I gold all the tests. And #34.

Wow. I've owned every game in the GT series, and never once figured that out! :dunce: Thanks for the help, I'll use it for another time. 👍

First lousy splits from a clean run:

T1: 21.203
T2: 41.323
T3: 1'03.640

Austin - If you don't mind, I'll probably give this one an unofficial rip.

I'm out of GT4 shape, but I'll be attending Nick's LAN (SFGTP5) this weekend, and I've been getting some laps in this week. This beast might help me re-acclimate myself with the game. :P

Will probably have something up here later tonight. 👍

Kevin

Well, I managed to beat Denur's "first lousy splits from a clean run".

So, I guess I'll have to be happy with that. :dopey:

21.226
41.181
1:03.271

Have another 0.5 in me easily, with another session, but I won't have a chance to run again and it's really not a bad looking lap, so I'm going to "submit" to Austin now, and let him put me where he will on his final board. 👍

Was a fun one, thanks. :)

Kevin

I don't know what you're talking about when you say "if you don't mind." :) Everyone is welcome to compete, and there's no reason I shouldn't put you in the results and standings as an "official" result even if you aren't planning on racing in the whole series. I'm glad you had fun, and I hope it was useful to get recalibrated to GT4 physics. 👍

superspeed, what do you mean when you say you "finally beat it?" There's nothing to beat here except your own time and others', so I don't know if you misinterpreted the idea of this race, or are just using different terminology. If it just meant getting a clean lap, then that is an accomplishment in itself with a big and powerful car like this one on a narrow track, but I encourage you to keep improving your lap time if you want to. 👍

Still playing with trans setting. Gotta work on T3 too. So far. 21.679 - 42.859 - 105.972

This thing shifts soooooooo slow. :ouch: I think I ended up at 450km top speed. I actually, tried 480, which is the top, and it bogged in a couple spots in 2nd, so I adjusted down from there. That let me use only 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear. Sounds weird, but I think it was faster, at least for me.

Oh, ok.
Yeah... I wasn't really thinking when I edited that.

Hey all...
Had my first laps this morning...but forgot my times @ home :dopey:

I had similar times as Kevin (nice to see you back in these neck of the woods; See you tomorrow) and Denur but can't quiet remember the times. I'll have more time tonight
but I do remember my top speed was @ 300Km. and I only used gears 3,4, 5.

Definitely a fun combo 👍

After quite a long session testing with different top speeds and aids on and off, I've managed to produce some decent times.

T1: 20.798
T2: 40.507
T3: 1'02.760

Might have another run later at the weekend, but I'm happy to submit this if I wont find the time.

Here's my last run:

T1:'23.758
Not too much behind the leaders here, but still behind.:dopey:

T2:'47.031
Getting farther behind.:nervous:

T3:1'12.682
:ouch::irked::banghead::grumpy:8 to 10 seconds behind.

Meh.
:indiff:

Ok First splits from this morning
Loosing A LOT of time after T2

20.875
41.001
1'02.845

Uh....
What time do you have to be faster than to get on the leaderboard???

I add any splits that are posted in the thread as soon as I see them. There's no "time to beat" here except your own and others', as I've said. You hadn't posted your splits here until now, which is why I hadn't added them. You have to understand that most of the members here that contribute in these subforums are some of the very best at GT4 and have been playing for quite a long time, so it's easy to get discouraged when their splits are significantly faster than yours. But it can be a personal challenge to improve your own time on a combo even if you don't beat other racers' times.

It's nice to see all the participation this round, and that so many seem to be enjoying it. 👍 I was a little worried that people wouldn't take to this car on a low-speed course like this one, but that thankfully doesn't seem to be the case. I'll post my splits from testing when I'm done with my 24 hour race, probably tomorrow, and I don't remember at all what they were by now, but I do remember that five gears was faster than six. I never tried four, but might have to now! I was a little disappointed that six wasn't faster because I loved listening to the car on the shorter shifts. :dopey:

Some improvement, but losing a lot in T3:

T1: 21.014
T2: 40.883
T3: 1'03.268

I finally finished my 24 hour race, and can access my splits.

20.376 - 39.732 - 1'01.096

I'm not sure I can beat them, because this was mostly a pretty neat lap. I wouldn't be able to improve much if I did.

Edit: After a while, I did beat that lap. It wasn't by much, and I think there are still 3-5 tenths left on the track, but it's serviceable for now. And yes, my T1 is exactly the same as before, somehow.

20.376 - 39.798 - 1'00.646

I will have to do this race again :(
I forgot and left my game save @ Smallhorses this weekend.

Sorry Ricardo, didn't get a chance to get onto email last night. Will send your maxdrive gamesave back to you tonight when I get home.
The Cien should be unlocked on the LAN gamesave though. ;)
