Yeah, who's up for racing on the Highway! :D Maybe my music playlist for this round should be a little more Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune 2 oriented. ;)

**notes the title of the thread**
Special Stage R5 5laps, eh? Indeed, one wrong move on the track and those concrete walls will really 5lap you around!
A little sort-of play-on-words attributed to the title of the anime INTERSTELLA 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem:sly:

Chris, there is a little problem with my car setup.
My weight can't be at +6 or 1164 kg,because the maximum of the weight penalty in case of the Celicas is 1155 kg.That means the +10 %.You can't punish me any longer! :mischievous:

Ran the 5 laps 6 times in a row and the difference between my fastest and slowest 5 laps was 1.8 seconds, the fastest was 1.147 off my target number, thought I was at my limit then had a perfect run beating my best by 2.8 seconds putting me better then I had hoped. My hotlap splits are T1 31.555, T2 54.420. Dang I love this course, it just flows so nicely and I like having walls beside me much better then sand traps, those things scare me which slows me down. And no I didn't even leave any dust on the walls let alone paint.
Looked back at past 4 JGTC seasons and my record lap was 2.5 seconds faster then my current hotlap...but I was running RSS tires in that quali, not the RM's for this run.

Drew, you better pay me some money for putting this on the schedule, I hate this course. Only reason it's here is tradition...and I can't stand to see a grown man cry.

Give me the wide-open spaces of a real racetrack any day to the claustrophobic confines of a city course...at night...in construction...and rougher than 3-day's stubble.

I've given it a run or 5, and I can't get under 55.2s at T2. And the ole' Celica's a tub with no power and too much weight. Laz, I don't know HOW you drove this thing so well. :yuck:

As for the GT500. I'm done. the Supra's got a wicked push through the sweeper turn 2, and I just can't get that last curve onto the mainstraight right which kills my top-end. Hoping for mid-pack this week.

While we're on the GT500 subject, I have only ONE clean run to show for it out of the about dozen or so attempts last night!:grumpy: I know there's plenty of time to get our races in, but it'll be a miracle getting a faster clean run if I can keep the Z intact without having contact with the walls or being forced to play 'bumper cars' with the rest of the field. Otherwise, I might be looking straight in the face of starting from the back of the pack. And losing control of the car and smashing it into the outside wall going into the tunnel turn isn't any fun either.:nervous:

Over in GT300, it's a whole different story with the Subaru having better control and not too much in the way of out of control power when you make your way out of the turns. ;)👍

I take it you guys in super GT have a very short list of favorite tracks and this is not one of them?:D I like this street circuit as its easily predictable and Flows like a race track. And Chris, I think for the weight on my car you mean 1101 instead of 1100 unless there is a cheat I'm not aware of:)

Well,this is a tricky car.
I don't use it at high RPM's,it accelerates much better in the lower revs because of its torque.I usually set up the gearing a little bit longer then needed,so I can avoid the using of 6th gear. So do I with the 2nd gear,I use it only in case of "emergency". I like using the engine break, I mean I let roll the car in the corners,so I can use minimum breaking. These things together gives me a relatively smooth, fast and flowing style.
I hope I can give you some information.

Let me tell you that I tried out the Amemiya RX-7 with Drew's settings at SSR5.
That car is the "black horse" this time.I bet Andy will win regarding that he loves and knows very well this track.

My first and only splits:

T1: 0'29.621

T2: 0'50.903

The Z feels great around this track. I can just glide through the turns.

No times from me I'm afraid :guilty:

Had a migraine for the last couple of days and it hurts to look at a screen. (even this hurts)

Unfortunately yesterday and today were earmarked for running all my racing. :ouch:

Sorry guys!

Neil

Anyone heard from ZeratulSG? Haven't gotten a time from the defending champ. hmm...
As for the rest, good close times. I'm impressed. Results shortly.

c

Edit: Quite possibly the closest race we'll ever see in GT500, with the margin of victory only eight one-hundredths of a second...a blink of an eye. Amazingly quick, and amazingly equal.

GT300 has GTXDriver still on top...and the marshals seriously looking at competition adjustments to the dominating Toyotas this year before Round 5. Testing will have to be done again.

Good luck all, race thread posted shortly.

c

Whoa, Very close results in GT500. Looks like me and Redwings are gonna be the ones to watch for this race and fourth pole in a row for Nissan:)

@ICallshotgun: I'm also wondering what happened to ZeratulSG. He hasn't said anything since Round 3. Did he tell you if he had any trouble with RL?

Meh, last place, I should have pushed the car more.....Ah well, all set up for me storming up through the field to claim the race win....yeh right!

Well done to GTX Driver for the GT 300 pole! 👍

Well,Chris,I was curious and tried out the RX-7.I made the qualifying with this car.
Settings: 315Hp/1111kg,RM's.(Andy's set up)
Second try: 6'53.974 with a hotlap of 1'21.209.

Afterall,I suggest you an increasing in the power of the RX's for the competition... 👍
PM sent to you.

Yeah!
Give the GT300 RX-7 more power!

It grips like now't else, but on the power tracks it hasn't the guts of the other cars.
On technical tracks it stands a chance, but, elsewhere? :indiff:

I don't know, maybe I have lost the touch with it (doubtful), but it just ain't cutting the mustard this season!

Neil

Agreed Neil, I never realized until Chris mentioned it that the Toyotas have been dominating.I'd surely agree with additional testing and adjustments. Well some good news for me, I ran the quali with the default gearing (300) only using 6th gear at the end of the straight, sometimes it is faster not using 6th, but not this time ,I've run the full race twice so far using 260 gearing and am averaging .200 per lap faster, not enough to have won the quali but it will help some in the race. Maybe with some fancy tire/pit strategy the RX7's will make a surprising victory :)

Hey all, so sorry for disappearing like that! I got hammered by one mother of a stomach flu this weekend and spent the last 3 days flat on my back and not too aware of my surroundings

I didn't even realize what day it was until it was too late. I've sent Chris a PM but I think I missed the time?!?

Anyway, here's hoping I can scramble something together out of this mess...

Glad to see you again. You missed out on qualifying, but you still have time for the race.

And is it just me or some of the competitors no matter what series having various problems be it Headaches or stomach viruses or something?

It's the time of the year buddy!
The weather's terrible over here at the moment, central heating's on permanently, and a few 'Flu & sickness bugs etc going round too just to make things interesting.

Ahh, the joys of living in a cold climate country.

Neil

We had a cold spell here Neil, got down to 44 degrees this morning, now it's about 74, BRRRR! Had to wear a sweater :)
