I guess you are going to call me Lassy instead of Lassi for the rest of my life? :D

I agree with you in both terms. Great, great racing even though there was only four of us and it's a shame that so many people have given up on this title already. This title really offers nice close racing, on some occasions we drove 3-4 corners with Derek side to side. I think this was one of the best racing nights I've had in SSV8NC.

I have to give special thanks to David, I think he is making me a faster racer! After I got the rust out of my wrists and was able to get my old pace back I had some great battles with David. But I wasn't simply fast enough and I started to try different things, changing my driving style etc. And I felt that I managed to increase my racing speed yesterday. In the last races I started to be able to challenge him. So either I got faster or he got more sleepy :)

PS. There might be something happening on the SCC factor... ;)

Sorry Lassi:)

Great news about SCC:tup:

Let's do it all again next monday?👍

I've met two kind of people online. The first group are punters and taking shortcuts. The second group is way faster than me and often also driving wide lines.

That's why I drive mainly in private lobbies with fellow GTPlanet members or with Finnish friends. Quality racing 👍

Yeah, we had a particularly close dice driving the RS4. It was kind of weird because for a lot of the time I just couldn't see Lassi's car at all despite looking back regularly. I knew he was there somewhere but without the sideways view that you can take with SCC I couldn't confirm exactly where.

The great thing was that, despite this, we kept up decent pace through several straights and corners instinctively knowing where the other car would be and leaving just enough room to ensure we didn't make contact once!

Lack of side view is a problem indeed. This with not so great sound world leads to situation where you don't know where your opponent is. Usually I tried to look when someone was close, that which side he would start to overtake and behave accordingly to that. But for example once there was a situation, where when coming out of the corner I took a quick look behind me, because (Miguel I think) was behind me, but I didn't see him. So it was either that he was passing me or he had done a mistake and dropped way back. I figured that he was passing me, but because I was in the middle of the track, there was absolutely no way of knowing which side he was on. And I think that eventually I did a wrong guess and turned into his side.

This game should definitely have a side view (there might be one with the dualshock?) or wider FOV in rear view, which would show your car and you could also see what's on the side of your car.

Sorry Lassi:)

Heh, np :)

I just put SCC order in, I'm holding you responsible if I don't like it lol. I tried the beta again, Enzo and McLaren where quite terrible and Aston refused to go straight. I hope there are better cars in the game or setups make difference. But it sure is a challenge even to try to keep the car on a road for a whole lap.

If I'm home/available, you can count me in!

You can look around - in external view only :ouch:

No looking around and no mirror in bonnet view is a big miss.

Hello,

I did receive the game last week,
my first impressions are positives,
not the GOTY but a good one to wait for GT5 to be release.
I hope there will be a patch for the G25 (rearview on the wheel button).
I was also wondering what is your favorite car and your best settings (best sensation with the G25)

Thanks a lot and hoping to see you online (by the way, is it possible to talk to each others ingame ?...)

Gauth.
IDPSN : golguth (do not hesitate to add me)

No I'm sure you will love it:tup:
If I remember well the Enzo has a very diferent behaviour in the game, for better, than it had in the Beta and all Ferraris are great and I think everybody loves the Corvette...👍

Great lets see if we can raise the enthusiasm back and have more racers next Monday:tup:

vompatti

Remember you are Cadillassi! lol
Monday night races were so funny with you, arvore and turnup, i was "forced" to drive cars i usually don't use, and on wet tracks... but it was sooooo cool!
ty guys, i hope there will be more and more races' night like that!

Hey,

I assume that with settings you mean car settings, since you have the game already and you are aware that there is nothing you can do for the setting of wheel itself.

What comes to the car settings, I haven't personally done much changes. Reason for this is quite obvious. You can't tune your car in online races and that is where I do most of my driving. So there hasn't really been a reason for me to get to know the tuning system and trying out different tunes and their differences. I usually go with the presets and maybe tweak tires or engine management, but that's usually it. Of course transmission if it's totally biased.

Talking in online is possible. In the lobby everything you say can be heard by everyone and in the races you have to press a button while you speak. Iirc this button is square. But, the coms are absolutely terrible. Sound is often cracking and it is really hard to understand what people are saying. Usually you might be able to understand what your fellow countrymen (due to good ping) say, but that's about it.

Thanks for the reply vompatti, yes I did mean the car settings... So, you're saying that when playing online, people choosing the same cars are having the exact same settings ? That is strange...

I was browsing around IGN and spotted this.
v8_superstars_racing_PS3boxart_160w.jpg

It has the ESRB rating and a June 1 date on the IGN page. Anyone know if this is actually coming here?

Sorry if this has already been posted.

If it is true, where the 🤬 have you been BlackBean?:irked: People in North America been waiting months to see if this game will ever come out. Let's hope it's worth it though.;)

But ... but .... that's the first V8 game, not the "Next Challenge" one, it doesn't make any sense to get that game now !!

Thinking of finally buying the game. You guys racing it on PS3 or PC?

Hi Voltaic,

I think most of the people here have the PS3 copy...the thing is that apart of Daco(Hi dude:tup: )and Vompatti (in a Finnish private league I think) nobody else plays it anymore...

If your looking for a solid and entertaining offline championship go for this one...but if you're looking for online amusement I would suggest you to check out Supercar Challenge instead.:sly:

Or get NetKar Pro or iRacing!

I see. Short lived?

Yup. To be honest, even with the faults this title has I kind of like it. Net code is excellent, you can really drive bumper to bumper. But the thing is, that it doesn't have a good penalty system or anything to prevent major cutting. So it's a disaster if you try to play on a public server because you either get rammed or everyone will cut like crazy. So private lobbies are the way to go, but because of the issues on public lobbies most of the players have quit the game already. As arvore mentioned I only play on Finnish league and I doubt that I will continue playing after it is finished. I've moved my "playing resources" to SCC, where I can find good company to play with.

As a Mac guy, I got a PC for SIM racing. I am trying to figure out GTR2 which so far is great but don't know how to play online with others. The ones you guys mention look very promising indeed.

...I also got rFactor, also trying to figure it out :P
Pssst between you and me, don't double post with 2 minutes. You'll only upset the mods and some of them are super. [/whisper mode off]

rFactor is great. There is a rFactor thread on GTP.

hi guys! about ssv8nc: yes, there is still a good number of drivers playing online, but yes everyone you'll meet will try to cut like crazy and so i, cause no way you can win without shortcuts. anyway it's not a bad racing game for ps3...waiting for gt5...waiting...waiting...

Hi guys, first post here. I own this game for a few months now and absolutely love It, best race game on the PS3. Haven't played on line yet, but now I convinced my brother to buy the game also, which he did, and now we will be playing on line soon. One thing we hate is corner cutting and idiots, one of the reasons I joined this forum is that most of you guys think the same. Recently I checked the on line mode of SSV8, but there where only 2 championchips going on, which were private. I will start a new private championship soon, so If you see me in the lobby, you know I am a serious driver. We will only play one evening in a week I am afraid, but If you are willing to join, please do. I will password-protect It, when started I will display the password here. I have read almost all of this thread, which gave me lots of good info. I noticed It's been a while since the last post. Don't you guys play this game anymore ? Really looking forward to some serious racing, If It's just me and my brother and some AI that's fine too, but serious human racers is just that more fun.
